Healey Mills Railway Yard (Wakefield. Yorks) on 24th May 1994
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Healey Mills Railway Yard near Wakefield on 24/05/1994. Filmed from the busy road bridge overlooking the yard at Healey Mills the place looks very run down and apart from a few light engine moves I captured on tape a couple of freights meandering past. To compare what the site looks like today where nature has really taken a grip and trees have sprouted everywhere it is hard to believe this yard was so busy many years back. To think how it was when Wath Yard was open at the same time just down the line. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Happy memories of sneaking round this depot and yard in the1960s, often they used to stack lines of scrapped steamers on their way to BarryDocks

Lovely view of the pacers, we used to call them nodding donkeys, as you can see in the video they are nodding the passengers to sleep. LOL. I used to go there regularly with my kids, they weren't bothered but an ice cream on the way made them happy. You could see so much stuff from the top of the banking. Great video brings back so many happy times.

@7.25-10.05 My last Class 47 . 47550 (Ex-Inverness TMD Loco) I needed back in 1983 when I gave up 12 Years of spotting & covered 95% of BR Depots at that time & all BR Works on the network, This evaded me for Years, then in early 2006, I had to go drive to Grimsby, took a wrong turn & ended up at a dead end in which A Derelict 47550 in the same colours was noted at the end of a line of old rusty Trucks, I was completely Gobsmacked but so pleased I actually saw it finally.
