This channel is dedicated to my personal Railway Video archive from mid 1980's to the present day. All material posted was taken by myself over a period of 40 years or thereabouts. I started with Audio around the mid 1970's and progressed onto video tape in the 1980's as equipment became available. Later after the digital age came about I changed format. I do no voice over as I know there is nothing more annoying than having someone constantly talking over the action. Just as important as the visual experience is the audio, the sound of the distant train whistle, the disappearing sound of the train as it passes by. Many hours of video I have captured over this period amounts to well over 2,000 hours, and I spend many a pleasurable hour in compiling, editing and then rendering on my humble home computer and finally uploading for likewise enthusiasts to enjoy (or like I hope they do) I always welcome and respond to comments left, whether good or bad, so please enjoy, feel free to comment

I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era.
On route to Hungary I stopped off at the busy location of Olten, midway between Basel and Zurich in Switzerland. Variants of traction representing the 3 main companies of the Swiss Federal Railways. SBB Schweizerische Bundesbahnen CFF Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses and FFS Ferrovie federali svizzere . The station proved very busy with both freight traffic and passenger with Re4/4, Ae 6/6,Re6/6, Ea3/3 and Re460 class types. Some of the locomotives looked pretty aged, but as typical of the country worked clockwork fashion with precision.
I hope you are enjoying the series, and if you are familiar with the areas featured, feel free to comment and if you do like the clip please subscribe and Like.

At 9.12, you have my grandad walking down the platform. That was his local station. Spent many days myself with him on that platform. Great video.
What is T413 called is it called a DMU I don't even know what that means tell the truth back in my days when I was a young man living in Birmingham I used to call them city trains many thanks for the memories I'm not into trains your videos do bring back some memories from me when I was a young boy living in Birmingham
Oh this is solid, solid gold. I was 17/18 at the time this was filmed, a student at the Sussex County Hospital. Home town Brighton. I had the world at my feet and felt bullet proof!! The memories are flooding back. Thanks for this.

Excellent. Brings back memories -spent many an hour just watching the proceedings. Muttenz [Basel] was another favourite as was Spiez for the BLS
I have video of Spiez, but much later on, It was a delightful place as is most of the area.....Many thanks and my best regards to you....Mark
They shouldn’t have destroyed Manchester Victoria station
I really miss that railway station I miss it so much , it has a lot of sidings lines going towards red bank carriage, sidings , in that picture it looks fantastic, loco hauled trains, now it’s like extinct. I have never been back since 1996, because I’m not happy what they did a magnificent railway station, and it’s Old, Architecture , It took the Victorians a long time to build it, all it needed was painting and a bit of tic, instead of knocking it all down, if I had a billion pounds, I would buy that station, and I would go to the council, and see what the old plans were like, I would get that that railway station rebuilt to has it wax , all over again to has it was ? The metro link I would put outside, it would still link to Bury , then I would add another separate line to Bury so passenger services could restart from there again, I would definitely reopen the Oldham loop and rebuild Oldham mumps to had it was, and if I had another billion pounds I would definitely open the Clegg street railway shed in Oldham, I would link to the Oldham Ashton guide bridge railway. And I would put 5 lines connecting to Manchester Victoria, 3 for the metro link and another two for the Oldham loop . And once again everyone in Oldham would see parcel trains back has it was in 1970s . U would see a three class 08 shunters and lots of parcel vans wooden and metal ones, I would create jobs in Oldham, I would get people to work for me to drive those trains, A new train factory would be built, in Oldham, so they can build those wooden wagons. I would bring back the cotton mills. In Oldham and everywhere .Oldham would get a new signal box built , once again the railways would come back if I was in charge.
Sounds very ambitious Deepak, If I too had a billion to spare I would donate as well towards the cost.....Many thanks for sharing this inspiring dream, maybe one day.....Best wishes to you and again many thanks....Mark

Often wondered what Remagen was like, many years ago I was supposed to go there with Shearings but ended up at Assmanshausen because for some reason not many people booked this holiday, still with a freight every ten minutes every 24 hours I didn't complain. Excellent video -DB at their finest.

The L/bourg to Liege line was another lovely line through the Ardennes which provided some superb thrash with the diesels. When i first visited in the late 1980s CFL 1800s and SNCB 55s shared the duties from L/bourg to Liege but this later changed to SNCB locos and CFL carriages.Lovely memories from your filming i it enjoyed very much.

Am I right in thinking that Victoria could be quite an unpleasant place at times back then? Have heard a few friends talking about how it had a reputation for being a bit sleazy. I suppose like so many other train stations back then, Kings Cross being the most famous example.

Excelled stuff! My nan and grandad had a van near Prestatyn right next to the train line and I used to just sit watching for trains all day back in the 80s when I was little and had hair. I remember when the Super Sprinter was considered new and I’m only 49 😂 Miss those days (and the days when you could stick your head out of the window for some fresh air).
