      The only reasons why McTominay is playing is because his goal scoring form and also his height. We aren't gonna control the game like City so most play is direct and thats where McTominay could offer something different. However the plan didn't work because our players are just rubbish. I do like ETH and still backs him but I agree his team selection and tactics were wrong against City. With our form this season, we clearly not gonna compete with City on possession so we should of sit back and play more direct. If we play more direct/counter attack, Bruno wouldn't play out wide and Eriksen/McTominay shouldn't start either.

  • @quangtrungbui675
    @quangtrungbui675 Před 6 měsíci +3

    i think Pep's Man City still lacks something. We can all feel how glacial and linear their flow when making combinations in attacking situations, most notably in the flanks. Surely this is because of the passive and limited nature of City's fullbacks when making wide triangles. Unlike when Pep still had the iconic duo Lahm-Alaba. Walker is not so good as passing and crossing, Ake is too static, unwilling to run higher and form wide triangle with the winger and the free 8. Gvardiol is having his very first season with Pep and very confused between staying low, safe passing and bumping up, making more dangerous passes, but it is understandable.
    I think Pep should look at his fullbacks in the coming transfer window. City's wingers are known for their elite dribbling and pace, but it's still brilliant having dynamic fullbacks form small triangles to give their wingers more freedom and amplify their danger.
    But it will come down to a question: who he can use as a model to train his future fullbacks? I would say John Stones and Ben White. Alongside being able to assist Rodri in a double pivot, they need to be eager and active running up and down to combine with the wingers, they can carry the ball, dribble, make dangerous passes and crosses all by themselves, but they also have reliable defensive capacity. Hearty physique, good speed and agility, and experience as a defensive fullback allow them to maintain the team's offensive flexibility but with minimal sacrifice defensive solidity. Or their counter-press can be even more effective. The ball-side fullback may need only a crude but powerful bump with his shoulder to knock the ball carrier even before a dangerous counter can occur.

    This defeat falls square on ETH. Completely got his tactics wrong. Why start eriksen when you know, you not gna have possession. Why play Lindelof at LB when he’s uncomfortable there and can play RB, Dalot can play LB. Why start Evans when Varane is fit. Why play Bruno out of position. It’s like he doesn’t know his own players abilities and what’s needed in the game. Yes there’s injuries but that’s no excuse for not making the most of what you currently have. I’ve tried to back him and keep faith but it’s now clear he cannot adapt when he has obstacles in his way

      @cloudadwesley1610 Před 6 měsíci

      It just means Varane is fit enough to make the match squad but not fit enough to play the whole 90. While he could have picked a better midfield trio to counterplay against City, I doubt playing Bruno as a 10 would have made a difference either. Either way, Lindelof is going to play out of position, he isn't a fullback. Playing him as a RB wouldn't do much good either.

    United need a proper midfielder maestro like Scholes. You cannot contain Pep's City with average blokes like United have at the centre. 2009 and 2011 UCL against Barca with the blunder of keeping Scholes at the bench til 76th minute - still at play. The closest in that mould right now is Billy Gilmour.

      Even that would be difficult. Not one of those man United starting 11 would replace any of the starting 11 from city. I heard someome say Rashford would 😂 nope, Pep wouldn't have a lazy player like that who avoids any defence duty.

    - City stretched themselves a bit wider to overload the flanks and halfspaces
    - MU lost

At first He made everyone believe that he is on the same level as klopp and guardiola calling their era as over causing people doubting their star players such as Ronaldo Sancho and leaving them high and dry but this game ten hag got demolished. The game should have ended 6 or 7 goals for man city

    We can't do anything until the glazers leave.
    We need a proper sports director/scouting department.
    Man utd always crumble when they concede first and they have never been clinical.
    These players can NOT play ten hag's style cos it's TOO complicated.
    Onana is now facing what's DDG experienced while he was at Man Utd
    Man utd were TOO slow, its either you keep the ball or you run to close down opponents, which Man city chose the first option and left United with the other option and the can't implement it 😂
