If everything is done, with heavy foundation, contour, extreme highlighter, then mascara is a must in my opinion. I would skip mascara on a more natural makeup with a little bit concealer blush and lipstick. In that casethe eyeshadow liner is a good option to bting more attention to the eyes.

As a medical aesthetician for over 2 decades & working mua. I am so, against tint ones doing this to your own eyelashes! I have seen quite a few go blind from it so even though they she puts them on her tips the solution will the lashes. I have seen permanent lose of sight and so many eye infections.Though the technique with the eyeshadow (not pigment) has been around for centuries to give the optical illusion for the look of thicker lashes. If you want longer lashes I would recommend a professional to apply semipermanent lashes applied(you pick the length and shade) but tbh if you can get your nails done at the same place definitely be where & look for certification on their walls! There’s also Latisse but again please get it from a reliable source) and lastly there are a ton of otc products that claim to get more lengthy and full lashes. Always look that castor oil is in the top 5 of the ingredients as castor oil is the only otc that has been proven by the fda as a legitimate source to use for that purpose. Lastly, out of all the mascaras that I’ve tried over the years, I like tubing mascara by far the best bc I am not a fan of mascara either! So, I understand that she’s only trying to help but lose of eyesight is not worth it, in my opinion. She is still a beautiful lass and I wish her the best! Warmest regards!đŸ€

      you must be very careful.
it won't blind you, but your eyes will be enflamed, sometimes for days.
if you decide to try this start with your brows.
and always be close to a sink so you can flush your eyes right away if some gets in.
you can rinse well, dry, then see if you want to proceed or try again another day.

@@honeydewgurlfriend oh sorry, I haven't noticed your reply! Faith Nelson was spot on though. 😊 you have to be very careful to not have anything touch your eye, like especially the red skin inside your eye. It does happen sometimes though especially if you are new to this. It hurts badly so you have to wash it all off your eye then immediately and either start again or, if too irritated, try another time. Nowadays it only very rarely happens to me, it used to be much more often. Starting with eyebrows is a great idea. 😀 However, what is good about this stuff is that you can't accidentally dye your skin with it, with other products it can happen.
So yeah you're not in danger if you try it, just be slow and careful and near water.
I personally use an old washed mascara brush for this, in case anyone uses something different that works even better, let me know.

Not the maybelline ones either, because they form hard, little solid particles when they come off with water. Try to look for a water washable (ie non waterproof) mascara that *bleeds* when you hit it with water, like an eyeliner would bleed black rivers down your face if you cried, that type. I find that type of mascara formula is a lot more gentle on the eyelids, and almost never causes eyelashes to come off.

It’s not that too hard taking off mascara depending how much you put on but if u take a shower or rub cleanser it will take it off really easy so you cleanse your face then wet it and you mascaras off personally I wear it every day and it’s very easy to take it off in my skin care routine also some mascaras have clumpy ingredients and bad for your lashes you just need a good mascara

I use the brush from underneath, any color I want, but usually darker ones. Getting it in between the roots of the lashes, for that more full eyelash effect.
I might even use it on the lashes, especially those tiny underneath the eye, where I don't want them to be very "out there"
I also get my eyelashes colored at the hairdresser, about every two months.

Thanks for great advice! Personally, I darken my eyelashes and eyebrows using a permanent hair dye (the one you use for your hair), although abviously I do not recommend it to anyone ;) I use the one without ammonia and I am very careful while applying it on my eyelashes. It gives me so much better effect than henna or other herbal stuff-on my eybrows henna lasts for about 2 weeks, the permanent hair dye-around 2 months. Henna doesn't really work on my lashes, they are not catching any colour not matter how long I keep it on :( ...I do have thick brows and lashes but they are very pale and literally invisible, while my hair is naturally brown, so without anything I look sick or at least tired... Once I dye it dark-I barely need any make up. Side note- I studied chemistry, so I know that if I am not allergic, nothing tragic should happen to my eyes even if the dye gets in there, especially now the formulas are quite gentle, although still chemicals are chemicals. But when you think about it-any time you use any chlorine bleach, its vapours get into your eyes, mouth and lungs, are we are all still alive ;) Having said that-we all have our own tricks, hence I am not convincing people to do whatever I do, if we don't feel a method is for us, it is better to not do anything-safety first!

big black lashes here, also-Get a good lash curler, learn how to use it. because Massive difference. if you have deep eyes get one with a narrow top. my lashes hold curl just fine, apparently you can warn curler with a hair dryer But unless you are expert with a curler I wouldn't risk it because you could burn delicate eyelid. great vid!

If you tint your lashes, make sure to keep your eye closed the entire time. I use the 10,000 hours one from Amazon. It comes with a spooly like a mascara wand so your first thought might be to apply it like mascara. But instead you should just do one eye at a time. Close your eye and get comfortable. Apply the dye and wait five minutes and rinse and do the other side. This helps a lot if you have micro bladed brows because it makes your eyes look less naked

Maybe you could try lash perm? I do lash & brow perm every 3 months and it gives me very put together look without needing mascara or brow makeup products
(i use only clear styling products for brows when i deem necessary). I guess that effect from perm would look absolutely fantastic on your eyelashes. The only concern would be about sensitiveness of your eyes... the procedure takes about 1 - 1,5 hours, and if the beauty specialist is experienced and you lay still, then nothing will get into your eyes.

It's a great tip overall. Unfortunately doesn't work with more droopy/hooded eyelids. Lashes are the only thing that's really visible if I keep my eyes looking straight. And if I do any kind of line, even smudged, without mascara, they look really small, sad and bad :/ It would take a lot of proffessional make up styling and contouring to make it work ;)

Try tightlining! Use a dark powder shadow and a small, stiff brush to push it into your lash line. It doesn’t take up lid space and it creates the illusion of a fuller lash line. Once you get the hang of it the effect is amazing! Wayne Gods has a great tutorial. Hth!

Haha. I have literally white lashes and this DOES NOT work on me. It looks like my eyes are just half done ... :P I used to do lash tint with this kit called Roux (i dont think its sold anymore... i haven't seen it in stores for a long time) thats for both lashes and brows and it worked very well except i am a side sleeper so one eyebrow and eyelash would wear off faster than the other from rubbing against my pillow which was annoying. These days i just wear mascara if I want my lashes darker.

Pro tip: wet the brush with a bit of water before dipping it into the shadow - it’ll stay on your lids longer. As for using men’s hair dye on lashes, I wouldn’t risk it. If you get something in your eye and reflexively rub it, you’ll risk eye injury.

  • @MellowJelly

I find mascara is redundant with the use of false lashes. I see people blending their natural lashes to their falsies with mascara, but in my opinion if you apply the lashes in a good position, you don't need to blend them together, and any holes or light patches can be filled with eyeliner instead. I think avoiding combining mascara + falsies also avoids getting your lashes and falsies all gloopy and crusty allowing a couple more future uses. Whenever I have to wipe off mascara it seems like a couple lash hairs fall out >:( i dont want that to add up so i dont use it, I'm sure the mascara i've used is just low quality because it should not do that

Just use hair dye on your eyebrows. It works much better than “eyebrow” dye, and you can make ANY color, not just brown or black
Leave in longer than hair as the cuticle is more resistant. I usually make the brows one shade darker than the hair. Being extremely careful to not get in the eyes.
