      Yes and if you are light skinned go with something that isn’t too dark or it might look orange from any angle the light isn’t reflecting. on the other side, if you’re deep skinned pick something bronzy or darker, light colours might look very ashy

    • @linibellini
      @linibellini Před 2 lety +1

      @@Ilivedbih blush is different because it naturally is darker than our skin. The problem with highlighter is that while it looks lighter than even pale skin from the angle it is reflective, it suddenly can look dark from other angles, making it look more like you put bronzer in that area. And looking darker in the areas you wanted to brighten is just not the desired outcome.
      It’s not that light skin tones can’t use darker shades of blush. They can look nice of course!

      Personnally, I have a very warm face and I never take a warm highlighter, at most it's champagne. When I look how the light hits my face, it's naturally more silver, I never saw someone with a "golden" light naturally.

    Интересный подход . Дополню немного, исходя из теории света и тени. Хайлайтер, как бы жемчужно он не переливался, делает части лица более выпуклыми и выводит их на первый план. То, что осталось матовым, соответственно, визуально отдаляется. Если подсветить и выделить часть щёки в районе под глазом, а не за внешней частью глаза, где у большинства череп сужается (туда и нужен блик, чтобы скрыть "срез" овала лица в этой части), то щека становится визуально больше, а глаза меньше. Спинку носа подсветить на переносице можно, если она слишком провалена, во всех остальных случаях чрезмерные блики только увеличат нос визуально. Вы скажете, что все туда наносят хайлайтер и окей. Так все красили перламутровые тени под бровь, что всегда делало нависшее веко более нависшим.

    I think it’s all about the illusion you want to create. I don’t have very prominent cheekbones and I always pot the highlight very high almost touching the eyes, and it looks extremely natural cause there’s where the light is on my face.
    I’d never put it more down or to the center, never ever.

    Tip: I’m a 5’5 Soft Classic, but my face leans more towards SG or R, or I could just be a SC with a face that leans more yin than ‘moderate’. I have a fleshy face (between oval and heart shape), with full ‘apple’ cheeks, and a tendency to be oily-skinned on top of that…so I have to be very strategic with my highlighter or else I’ll look extra puffy with extra unwanted shine. My favorite placements are just underneath the outer eye (most upper part of the cheekbone), as well the brow bone (and right above the brow to lift it like Aly demonstrated), inner corner of the eyes, and abit on the center of my lids. That’s it for highlighter. I use Becca Moonstone (pale gold) which is pretty subtle (on my nc15 light warm skintone) and not too frosty. I really just emphasize more on my eyes and the very uppermost cheekbone just underneath them, and for the rest of my face I work with a natural-looking bronzer with a sheer finish, and ofcourse soft warm blush to add shape, color and dimension, and make me look healthy and fresh. No contour powder for me either, that stuff just looks like dirt if you have a softer face with delicate features. The rest of my make-up is eyeliner on my upper lids only (either in dark brown, deep plum, or navy, black is too harsh), full and softly defined upper and lower lashes (never clumpy), and lipstick in a medium, warm color…nothing too deep, too pale, or too bright, no neutrals either, they make me look dull.

    Hello Aly,
    Past few years, I have learnt a lot from you and your channel. However, there is something that I have observed and would like to share with you-
    1) Your views are extremely Euro-centric. The elegance and class you often mention is organised and oriented from some extremely intricate world history! The tropical countries always had more natural resources which even includes the process of creating colors and magnificent fabric. Europeans on the other hand neither had those resources nor they applied those to their cloths. Because of their long history of powerful cultural hegemony, we often refer what’s “classy and elegant” from their perspective but girl, Sharee is one hell of a classy outfit. So is Kimono. So is Handbok. So is Salwar Kameez. So is full cover Niqab. Talk about those too.
    2) I would really appreciate if you further up your research to a wider geographic demography because at time I feel lost seeing your video. I am Bangladeshi girl with a very much “Bengali beauty” features and I get confused at times what exactly is applicable to me since everything here is so Eurocentric.

      @gina1525 Před 2 lety +8

    • @Preethla
      @Preethla Před 2 lety +2

      @@gina1525 If you read my comment properly, you’ll understand that this is a general comment on her entire channel. Left this on a latest video so that she could notice it.
      This video is right on its topic no doubt on that. Aly in general is a very beautiful, smart and intelligent women. I just gave her a heads-up as a fellow women from an another part of the world. Cheers!

    • @linibellini
      @linibellini Před 2 lety +5

      I think you’re being a little unfair to Aly and ignoring her background and culture. Of course her view is influenced by exactly that!
      Would you expect a beauty blogger from Bangladesh to be aware of and include all beauty standards that exist in the rest of the world? I understand that she speaks to an international audience and I see that she does her best to be inclusive of all skin tones and ethnicities. But our world is so diverse and there are so many different cultures and beauty ideals, even within Europe what is classy in Russia might not be considered “classy” in Greece or Norway. Trends are always somewhat tied to region and demographic. So I think it would make it almost impossible to do a video on any topic if you expect all different African, Asian, European, South American, Central American, North American and Oceanian beauty standards, views on fashion and class as well as their history and that of each regions plenty subgroups and minorities to be included. This would even be too much for an academic paper!
      If you watch someone from Europe, expect their taste and view to be influenced by their heritage and culture. If you watch someone from the Middle East, expect them to have their taste and view influenced by their region.
      And if you want to watch someone who is an expert on south Asian beauty and culture, expect that from someone from your region.
      How ignorant would I look to you if I watched an Indian beauty channel and complain that it’s way too colourful and too much centred around Indian culture and therefore not useful to me?

    • @Preethla
      @Preethla Před 2 lety

      @@linibellini I would have agreed with everything you said until I felt you missed the point that how “General” and “universal” Aly’s videos and ideologies come across. She never mentioned that she gave her ideas from an Euro-centric point of view but rather presented as “General” ideas while leaving out almost the entire Asian, Oriental Region behind. Like in her Body type series, she could have observed Bollywood actresses and body types too. Saree is such a famous cloth but the blouse can look odd on different body types. I am confused between if I am romantic or classic because I have a very feminine soft body. Most of the women here are very feminine but I think there’s barely any experts talking about us which is sad?
      There are barely any channels like hers in general but Asians are well aware of western fashion. We have a made a great amalgamation of western and cultural cloths. There is another channel which talks about facial aesthetic, and that channel mentioned Aishwariya’s Deity like face as “Plain” just because it is strawberry shape? The way westerners politely drag down Beauty in the other part of the world almost seems so inconsiderate.

    • @linibellini
      @linibellini Před 2 lety +1

      @@Preethla I can only repeat what I said, even if Aly describes her views as universal or general, it doesn’t have to be for every single one. Or it can mean it’s universal for the culture she’s in. These are her own views, it’s a free channel, you don’t have to watch if it doesn’t apply or work for you. Because also she disclaimed that all her views are her own.
      She also doesn’t talk about any African traditional dress or even European traditional dress for that matter. I don’t find that strange at all because how would she even know enough about all that? I don’t know why you feel entitled to her educating herself about your culture when she gives free advice. If you had booked a paid for service and she couldn’t provide any useful tips because you don’t wear western clothes but all her recommendations are just for that, I would agree with you in part. But like i said, there are tons of hair channels from African women who only talk about hair types they know. There are tons of Indian or Korean channels that talk about beauty and make up for their culture and skin tones. None of them recommend alternatives for different eye shapes, lip sizes or skin tones.
      She also doesn’t include men or diverse people or give tips for obese people etc because she probably doesn’t know enough about those groups in regards to the system. Cause she has to base her videos on Kibbe’s teachings and if he never mentioned something like a saree, she can’t just make it up.
      Another thing you have to consider is exposure. I don’t think saree is all that common to see if you live in the west. Especially not if you’re not in a big city or if you’re in former sowjet regions with less cultural exchange and less travel.
      I find that here you are ignoring her situation and background quite a bit, calling her and westerners in general ignorant towards other cultures. While you may have a ton of western pop culture and media all around in Asia, in the west there’s not equally as much asian movies etc.
      Also this whole system she’s talking about is based on the ideas of a western man who works in western entertainment industry. He created these types to play into / fit western ideas of how women look and come across. It’s all based on western culture and ideals. Now of course he’s trying to be more inclusive of different ethnicities but it’s mainly still made for people who live in the west or who have a western style of dressing etc.
      I just don’t understand why you even watch a western channel about a western styling system, developed by a western man in the west, then complaining it’s Eurocentric? Makes no sense to me.
      Also if someone else on a different channel called one asian person as plain, that is obviously their opinion and not every westerners or Alys. She always talks in an appreciative way about women from all ethnicities. So don’t blame her for someone else being rude in your opinion. And most of all, don’t make up a rule out of one incident, that westerners drag down beauty of other cultures. That’s just completely untrue and tone deaf. You’re dragging down westerners here, pretending they’re all the same and all ignorant, blaming and stereotyping a whole group of people for the behaviours of a single one.

I have lots of soft features, hands a lot smaller than my face and I look great in clothes for softer types. But i used to work out heavily during my teenage years and I am wondering if it didn't change some of my natural features. My female family members are all very soft, so do I, but still have left muscles from working out 14h a week. I'm just confused and lost, because i would like to type myself somehow. Also for claryfication i tried to wear clothes recomended for naturals, flamboyant naturals but everything looks very seperate and odd.

But I must say u were very disappointing 12 days ago when u wrote about Kim K and her implants. I agreed with all you had said in the video but your comment was rather cheap.
