    Thank you so much for doing these sew alongs for your patterns. I'm very much a visual learner, and while I can put together a garment with just written instructions, it's so nice to see things in action and also learn some new techniques that I may not have thought of or seen before!

    Love this pattern and love this sew along even more. I'm a beginner sewist and this is the very first jacket I've ever made. I'm almost finished and your sew along has made it so much more doable and fun.

    I should have watched this video BEFORE sewing everything except the buttons... Great video. Somehow on my pattern I missed the circle-markings. They made my head smoke during construction. Thanks a lot, next time I will sew the Ilford better, cleaner and - maybe - faster 🤗

    This is so useful, thank you! I'm new to sewing patterns, sorry - when you edge-stitch along the placket to finish it off, how do you make sure that everything underneath is caught at an even width the whole way down if you're sewing it from the top? Is it just a case of measuring very carefully and hoping that it's all working out under there?? Yours looks so neat and near the edge when you flip it over! Thanks!

    • @FridayPatternCompany
      @FridayPatternCompany  Před rokem +1

      Hello! I'm glad it is helpful :) You would sew down the placket with the underside facing up. If there is a reason you need to sew from the top you could baste it in place first and then follow the line of stitches you created to make sure everything gets caught underneath. Hope that helps!

    • @SplitScreenSamba
      @SplitScreenSamba Před rokem

      @@FridayPatternCompany oh wow ok, I thought it would show if you sewed it from the other side - clearly I'm still very new to this! That makes a lot more sense than doing it from the other side, thank you for the quick response!!

  • @kylegraywolf
    @kylegraywolf Před 3 lety

    What is the distance of the circle mark to the edge on the sleeves? I didn't see those marked on my printed pattern (were these part of the update?), and am planning on sewing the sleeves this weekend. Thanks!

    • @FridayPatternCompany
      @FridayPatternCompany  Před 3 lety +1

      The circle marks are part of the update. If you send me an email I can send you updated files so you can check them out. If you want to add them they are on the seam line (so 5/8" in from the edge of the pattern piece).

    Hi! I’m currently sewing an Ilford jacket at home, my sleeve shape is flat on the shoulder seam, but I noticed in your video yours goes to a peak. Have I done something wrong or was there a pattern update? Just worried my sleeve will look wonky 🤣

    in this video, there is a reference to a dot on the front and back pieces but there is no dot on the pattern. Please can someone let me know where I place the dot? I think I recall seeing a post somewhere that the purpose of the dot is to somehow reduce bulk in the underarm but I now cannot find where this information came from! Thank you for your help!

    There is no information on pressing the seam allowances of the sleeve head or sleeve and body side seams in the written instructions or in this video sewalong. Should all seams be pressed open?

  • @entropikidUK

    My two cents. Not a good sewing pattern for men. Sleeves too short, even adding 10 cm and overall too tight.
