  • I am sharing the Ilford Jacket (Friday Pattern Co) I made for my son a few months ago. It's a cool style that can work for anyone. I'm allowed to borrow it as it fits me well too! On the website, you can see the listing with styled photos featuring men & women. You'll see it modeled on my son & myself today.
You'll see how to sew the sleeves on the flat with a technique that leaves all the seam allowances under the arms free, thus reducing the bulk in this area. This is the same way I sewed the Moss Jacket (Helen's Closet) in the previous video.
Ilford Jacket (Friday Pattern Co) does NOT have an affiliate program. I do not receive any financial earnings (commissions) for sharing this pattern with you. I produced this content independently from the pattern Brand. Here is a link directly to their site: fridaypatternc...

I think the little change you made to the sleeve and side seam allowances will make a big difference. You explained it very well. Thank you!

Hello Karina and thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. I was hoping to find a jacket just like this one for woven fabric. Your efforts and creativity provide inspiration and encouragement and enable me to feel that, with practice, I can achieve well--constructed garments.

Very cute jacket, Karina! Looked really cute on you! It would be really pretty in a wool, even a lightweight one, with a cute plaid or floral under the collar and pocket flaps. Thanks for showing us!

I know oversized items are in, but they just don’t look good on me. A large or XL usually fit me, but I was T H&M the other day, and their M dresses were way too big!

I get the oversized thing and it suits some people but certainly not me. I feel weird in too much fabric too.

Karina what pattern would you recommend for dress pants. I kind find a good pair of pants for my work at a store. Your clothing always looked nice. I need a good, but not to difficult pair of pants I can make. I trust your suggestions. I appreciate any suggestions. Oh and I do want to make this Jacket too.

I know you asked Karina, but I thought I would share my favorite pant pattern for work pants.
I have tried so many and am always so disappointed. I found Atelier Scammit, a french pattern company, after Lindsey from Inside the Hem, did a video about her patterns The pants that I love are called Attitude Trousers. I have made a couple of pairs with a nice wool spandex blend. I have bought the full trouser pattern too, called the Allure Trouser and am very excited to try it for fall and winter.
The pattern is excellently drafted with nice notches to mark different seam allowances. She has a full sewing tutorial here on CZcams, just turn down the volume if you don't speak french.🤣 I plan to try a pair of ankle length widening to a straight leg. Anyway, hope this, Katie helps.

I've got this started for my adult son. He loves the pockets and the boxy fit. He tried it on and the sleeves are too tight. So I had to cut more sleeves in a bigger size. Be careful if you make this for an adult male.

Thanks for the heads up. My son is pretty long and gangly still so we found the sleeves ok.
