there's also LA burning in the back like the lyric on Venice Bitch 😳
Is it just me or is that line reminds ya'll of Jesus commanding the sea to calm down and shit?
OH! OH OH! OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT! You just blew my mind.
@@lucascheinstorni1289 on The Greatest it's "L.A. is in flames, it's getting hot"
Lana said she included the long instrumental on Venice Bitch because she wanted it to be a song that you could roll down the windows, and cruise the streets at night and just let go of everything.
miku hey neat I did that today, what a coincidence
Is a brilliant song imo, the best of the album for me.
@@alejandropradalozano6525 yep, that song is the reason I bought my first Lana Del Rey album.... so georgous
Literally what I do everyday, wondows down Del Rey up
which is fine but my problem with the song is that I have heard too many better psychedelic music trips than what Lana and Jack did here
Anthony is actually addicted to the album and was too busy playing it on repeat since the day it came out. That's why it took him almost a week to finally drop this review.
i buy it
that's the tea sis!
I can actually see that huh
Hilarity
Lana's themes and sound evolved and matured with her fan base. A lot of fans that found Born to Die were young millennial teens at the time and now they're older and into their 20s who have greater passions and cares in this world, which fits with Lana's current material.
The accuracy
So true !
yup, this is very much the case for me
Innocuoustranger u got me there
It’s like we all grew up together
I disagree with your point about Venice Bitch. That song is by far her best song ever, and the instrumental section seems to pass very quickly because I enjoy it so much. It's really beautiful.
yes!!!!!! taste!!!!!!! i feel like he didn't let himself get lost in it and got too caught up about specifics and criteria and stuff with vb idk but as a lana stan it's top 5 of all time lana for me
I love the long instrumentals it gives me vibes of classic rock or billy Joel, with awesome long instrumentals
No it's just lovely that synth that guitar. Fantastic.

Yes! And cinnamon girl is fantastic
I’m happy for her, she inspired a whole generation of copycats and soundalikes this decade, it’s only fitting that she eventually got to have her moment of critical acknowledgement
who are these copycats?
I think the most noticeable are Billie Eilish and Grimes.
Not copy cats but certainly inspired alot of artists
Lorde
Billie Eilish
Melanie martinez
Etc
grimes? grimes of all people?
stibtihict Yes, soft whispered vocals, consuming romance, layered music and grimes has been open about being inspired by Bjork and Lana del Rey

Whule the Urban Outfitters Vinyl version Lana Del Rey & 3 more women meditate on stone and still inside a box
to be honest your criticism in the beginning is valid but also lana is very self aware which i find many people don’t understand. she is making fun of herself in her lyrics. ultraviolence is mostly discussing the types of girls who listen to her and even poking fun at LA girls. she’s kind of a joke but she’s also talented and beautiful n
Yes, she always knew what she was doing and it was intentional.
@Kim Barack I hope he meant "she's kind of joking"
He or she idk
But if she didn't take herself and her artistic persona seriously, why a critic would do it? I think that excusing her lack of authenticity in her first works because they were some kind of joke is kinda dumb tbh
Tomas Carlos I don’t think she lacks authenticity, I just think that she definitely was inspired by things that seem questionable and hard to nail down to the untrained eye. Sure it was a little tailored, but isn’t every major artist image tailored in the beginning of their career ?
This album is lana’s best album period. I know all of her albums are good especially the Ultraviolence and btd are important for most of her old fans but as a new stan for her i can say that this album is her best stuff. I also hope that she will release a really good album like this, this september. Btw i need to say that, this album deserved a light 9 not light 8

@@annabell2717 Idk how BTD sounds the same as Honeymoon or Ultraviolence...
I reeeeally love this album. I haven't ever listened to any of her stuff and just kinda randomly decided to check it out. I'm in my mid thirties and I'm trying to break away from the stereotype that says you stop listening to new music at this stage in my life. Obviously that's not the case for everyone but I found it being a little true in the music I've been listening to. I had to put my classic rock and jazz on hold to expand my palate and i'm super glad that I gave NFR a try.
the Next Best American Record appearing in its finally form this way actually shows a lot of growth, she kept it from Lust for Life and changed the lyrics to make it more uplifting and it is honestly one of my fav songs on the album, overall it's a solid 9/10 album and her most mature. wish you'd reconsider.

I don't know why, but having Anthony like an album that I like makes the music even better.

I totally agree that Mariners Apartment Complex is one of the best songs she’s ever done.
The story behind Mariners Apartment Complex is actually pretty interesting. Apparently Lana was talking a walk with this guy she was dating at the time and they stopped In front of mariners app complex. He told something around the words of “I feel like we get each other because we’re both so messed up” and she was taken aback by his words and told him she wasn’t living a sad life and she was actually doing pretty good now. In the interview she says she was inspired to write the track because she felt like she had to take a step back and take that role where she was showing the way and being the brighter light.

There’s nothing wrong with a female wanting her image to portray being submissive the same way that a male should be allowed the choice to present himself that way also. I think her retro Americana style sort of requires her to give off that submissive vibe since majority of women in that time weren’t very out spoken, at least in the media.
The only reason why so many people were against Lana back in the day, is because she was singing about how vulnerable she was and how toxic her relationships were, in an age when female artists were expected to sing about how supposedly empowered they were and how everyone were beautiful (except skinny girl, who were evil and deserved the worst) and mysogynists wouldn't have it. I'm not even a Lana fan, but looking at how mainstream pop was back in the day and what it is now, I find it to be a plausible conclussion.
finally people are seeing the great stuff Lana can create. not only because she improved but i think everyone is understanding she's a real songwriter and not just another singer nobody will remember the name. even because she does have great songs on her oldest albums. it's not bad material at all
