The rut/mating season is in the fall. It was an elk. Male Elk are extremely vocal. They are very aggressive during this season. The moon phase was probably full. This last around 4 weeks. They make deep scary sounds & thrash around.. Make noise if walking around at dusk or sunrise. If if going to a pit toilet. Some People will say you heard a Sasquatch...

I lived at Diamond Lake for a few years. when i was 10 my older brother and i seen a massive creature we can only describe as what we knew to be bigfoot. it was standing in the doorway of our house taller then the door frame and the shape of a huge person roughly 10:00pm. my stepdad at the time was head of security at the resort and the next day he was telling my mother of how he chased something into the swamps the shape of a man but huge and foul smelling.. may seem like just a legend for some folks but to others who have witnessed something and heard its grunts and howls you cant shake our belief. put yourself out there in that dense forest for a few nights alone without a dog and chances are you will experience something you thought was just a made up story.

Was lovin' the music from the beginning - then, when at the Crater Lake Visitors Ctr, when you recorded a bit inside the shop, you showed a painted image of the mountain blowin' it's top - with the steam, smoke & ash shooting up...& as I puzzled over the lightning bolts - the music was perfectly timed - with that weird synthesized sound - as if the sound effect for a cartoon spaceship...lol. And - love the 3D model of Crater Lake & the poster on the wall, at the end. It looks like a woodcut style, rarely seen anymore - so has a nostalgic feel - especially with that early motorcycle!

There were elk around and they would scratch trees with their antlers and make groaning and grunting noises, it was rutting season. The scariest part was at about 2:30-3:00 am, I heard what could only be described as a woman screaming in the distance! It almost sounds like a rusty wrought iron gate slowly closing, but scarier! I'm glad you got to meet up with Becky on this trip too...I think when you are close friends, it's OK and welcoming to park close to one another...unless someone really wants their time alone. It's nice that this park also lets yall camp for free there...even with electric...and very pretty too. Jimmy...I love sleeping in a very cool house or wherever, but when it is too cool, I wear something with a hood to bed and pull the hood over my head...it helps with my sinuses when I do that...it might help you too. Wow, hearing you talk about the scary sounds...that most likely would scare me too...it's good that you asked about it though...I might have been hesitant about sleeping after hearing that though. It is a really beautiful place!😊💖

Jimmy, you post the best videos on CZcams!! I just adore you and all of your adventures. You are so much fun! I don't know whether I believe all the Bigfoot stories I have heard over the years. You would think someone would have captured one or found remains of one. Anyway, I would have been terrified if I heard such a strange sound...LOL That was a beautiful drive, too. Have fun with Becky.....y'all be safe!

Hey Jimmie love your videos. This is gonna sound crazy I don't know if I believe in this or not but have you ever thought of these noises you hear could be Bigfoot? That area of Washington/Oregon is supposed to be prime habitat!

I camp alone in WA all over and haven’t heard the noises, nor have I been kidnapped like everyone worries about. I’m on the fence, I always say, I’m neutral on this. I always keep an open mind, but skeptical at the same time.

Elk have wide range of noises that they make. They sound very Erie and surreal during fall rutting season. I believe in Bigfoot the ape family also have a wide range of vocalizations and are very loud. Sounds carry very well at night. Wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy communing with nature. Excellent video. 🍂🍁💀👻🗻👽🐻🦌🦇🦇🐉🕸🦉🦅🎑🎃

An elk bugling in the middle of the night can be startling, to say the least as my brother and I found out many years ago in Kentucky. Around midnight, we had heard some grunting (probably a female elk) coming up a ravine, and 2 hours later came the bugling of the male from less than 200 feet away.

I laughed when you took off your glasses to read--I do too! Its weird getting older when you've always been nearsighted. I just turned 60, and although I generally still wear glasses I've noticed they're not really all that necessary except when I'm driving or watching TV. So I guess that's something you have to look forward to.

I suggest going to google and type in sounds of a _____. And see what comes up. I’ve done that a lot trying to figure out “what was that” lol I would have been climbing back into my van and closing the door😂😂😂🧐 Night sounds can be interesting. I’ve videoed the dark before to catch the animal sounds. I really wish I had a trail cam to put out just to see what I don’t see lol keep that cell handy each night just in case you get the opportunity to video the night sounds. Have a fun week😉👍

From the little description you gave, I'm betting elk. It's a high pitched, somewhat mournful, screeching, bugling sound. Elk rut is in the fall. It is definitely an other worldly call. I think they might be the culprits in many of the reports of Sasquatch calls and tree banging. The sound of two sparring bulls horns clashing together could be mistaken for Sasquatch supposedly bashing limbs into the trunks of trees. I would love to see an update after you have googled elk bugle.
