Cyclone front seat on-ride HD POV Luna Park Coney Island NYC

- Cyclone didn't escape the wrath of Hurricane Sandy, but the world's most famous classic wooden coaster has been re-tracked where needed and is open to the public once again without missing a beat. Can you spot where the track repair work has been done?
Cyclone is located across the street from Luna Park at Coney Island in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, New York.

for being 90 years old (It was made in 1927) it is pretty nice and in good conditions, which is pretty unbelievable.
Dax to the Max fr like how didn't it break yet..?
IKR. Especially after Sandy
@@leoross8088 He meant the ride is 90 years old you dumbass
@dave smith but it did get new track work thanks to GCI
Maybelline Magarin the ride is in he condition for the 1920s other rides are smoother
As a New Yorker I have a hell of allot of respect for the Cyclone. It’s nearly 100 years old and still operating strong. Strong is understatement actually, as riding it feels as if you’ve been in multiple car accidents at once, that intense. Especially the rear seat where the train literally leaps off the tracks on hills despite the heavy old trains and couch seats (thanks god for those). Ride the front row first and then the last, as both are completely different experiences 💪🏼

To clarify the reply, you're not supposed to fly out of your seat, but it is supposed to feel that way
Ikr, I just tried it today and it was awesome, it just goes up and down super fast without stopping
Sooooo glad I live in brooklyn! Best place ever with best amusement park and hands down best hot dogs in the universe! Also it's so much more chill then Manhattan, take it from me when you live in Brooklyn you rarely go to the city and when you have to it's like a chore! It's great and all but to many tourists, the city does have great food though!!!
Max Teicher best amusement park? Ever heard of cedar point, kings island, phantasia land, Europa park, six flags magic mountain, knots berry farm, six flags great adventure, and any other park that isn't cony island?
Max Teicher I would rather go for the boardwalk than the rollarcoasters in Coney Island.
Is the beach at Coney Island nice? From the pictures I've seen it looks kind of dirty.
Sam Owen waters on the east coast are darker. I don't like it. U never know what's coming.
@@CoasterCrab No long lines at Coney Island and it's a short train ride away.
Hm sure hope no one rides this on Monday September 14th and is a member of the St Cassian choir
Uh... why?
Edit:ik why
My parents grew up in Brooklyn and my dad took my mom here on one of their dates, and he took her on the Cyclone. She came off that ride cursing him out because of how terrifying it was. Fast forward about 25-30 years, and we went to Coney Island one day as a family (we’re only about 1.5 north of there and my grandparents still live in Brooklyn so we’re in the area pretty often). After I finally got over my fear of roller coasters, my dad took me on the Cyclone. I got off that ride, cursing up a storm because of how much I hated it. My dad couldn’t stop laughing at how much I sounded like my mother.
love the seats. there like couches
Auggie Whitman irk they are comfy
The people who conceived and built this amazing structure were geniuses. No technology like today yet still one of the greatest coasters ever built. Coney Island was an amazing place to spend an entire day great memories.
I went on this during summer 2019 and I felt like I was gonna fall out. I had my eyes closed for pretty much the entire ride. Yep. It was that scary.

And I'm asking "why, lord?"
If this is how I die, lord
Why be left with no family
And no friends?
I’ve got no celebration
Just this consolation
Time eats all his children
In the end
A melody floats through the air
When silence falls, does no one care?
Does anyone care?

That was part of the thrill and terrifying experience knowing this ride is ancient. You feel like it will break apart at any moment. The Wonder Wheel (swinging cars) gives you the same horrifying experience. The creaks alone sound like the cars will go flying off into the ocean. Scary stuff but oh so much fun!
Who wouldn't love the world famous Coney Island Cyclone? It's a pretty good ride, even though it is very old and a bit rough, the seats really make a difference for this ride.
+Tony Kim My mom. lol. According to her, the Cyclone was her first and last rollercoaster and that it scared her out of ever going on another rollercoaster.

Here, my lucky number is 7, I will sour great Hights, and I will be sure to ride the cyclone
Rode it in 2002 and there was no line. This was the most intense coaster I've ridden, period. It was soooooooooooooooo fast!!
Did the front axel happen to break? Causing it to de rail at the apex of the loop-de-loop, hurdling you, to your death?

I remember going on a this when visiting my family up in Brooklyn. Loved it!
There is actually a book about it. It's by Doreen Cronin and it's called Cyclone
Read the description; lowkey gives me Ride the Cyclone vibes.
Today I went on the cyclone. Let me tell you, the ride still is working good and it’s fun!
I'm supposed to go on it today and I've never went on a rollercoaster.. looks amazing
This was my son first roller coaster
Went on 3 Times last year. Best roller coaster ever.
This was the first roller coaster I've been on. I live in a small unknown part of Canada in the country side. The biggest ride I've been on is the zipper, so this was a big step up.
I rode it 60 years ago. The Cyclone is the best!
Huh cyclone, small unknown part of Canada, sorry are you on choir
Beautiful done! Bravo!
One thing I will say is this is no short fucking ride. Buckle up and hang on. One of the greatest coasters ever. And with those views of the Atlantic Ocean? 🔥
WOW-it is FLYING. O don't think I've ever taken those top level turns that fast!
Ahhh the memories. Thanks for the post.
This is the very 1st coaster I was on, I wascthe youngest of five and my older siblings took me on this ride without my parents knowledge scared the you know what out of me. I am 70 years young now and can think back with a smile. Maybe I will bring my grandchildren to experience it
When on this ride in the early 70s and later on wound up servicing the neon sign amazing love Coneyisland
Oh man!I went at night, next time I will go in the day time for viewing of everything!
Thank you so much for uploading!!
I went on this rollercoaster and it was great!!😍😄
its amazing. I've lived in Brooklyn my whole life and never rode the cyclone. I intend to change that tomorrow.
I took the same ride with my brother in the front seat 25 years ago. When I got off I was sobbing. You can get your picture taken at the top. I did it with my wife. Again.. terrified. Clickity clack. Clickity clack. Whoosh. Amazing.
Got on when I was 12 weighed about 77 lbs almost jumped off my seat and fell, seats very unsafe for skinny people! Truly terrifying feeling of knowing you’ll come crashing down to solid concrete from 30-40 feet above ground!
Why tf you 12 and only 77lb!?
ACLet'sPlay yes I felt like I was gonna fall off. Rough as hell to. And I'm an adult.
I’m 11 and I’m 100 pounds..

I can relate! I am 12 and I am 80lbs!!! Honestly I loved it more, it did feel like you were gonna fly out, but it felt nice like you were flying! Amazing experience!
Holy shit you're fucking underweight. Do you starve yourself?
Rode last summer for first time in my 59 years. Bucket list item - it was worth every penny.
Going thier this weekend cant wait!!
One if the best in the world! Love it!
I remember riding the Cyclone back in 1973, when I was a wee kid. Nice to see they still have it.

HAD A GREAT TIME THERE!!!
Although it may not seem like the kind of coaster to do it, the airtime on the Cyclone is actually insane. On literally every hill you get that heart stopping feeling that you’re about to float out of your seat, this thing is literally a torture device for me or anyone who doesn’t like experiencing G-force. Combined with the fact that the last time I rode there was nothing to hold onto when you drop, makes this thing a monster. Even when I went to Six Flags Great Adventure for a college trip and rode Nitro and El Toro I had something to grab onto to counter the airtime, but it seems like Cyclone was specially designed to make you feel every bit of it as you can without you able to counter it.
Of all the roller coasters, the cyclone racer in Long Beach was my all time favorite.
Rode this thing a few times as a kid back in the 70's. The thing that makes this ride so great is it's like visiting a haunted house. It creeks and groans, clicks and clacks.. and then plummets you straight into the cellar! Then... once you think all is safe...you get a load of the wooden rails supposedly there to prevent you from plummeting to your untimely demise.
I'm pretty sure the last time I rode that thing was just before they were considering closing what remained of the "Old Coney Island". Which by then was essentially just a bunch of independent operators. There were still tons of cheesy carnival booths, ring tosses, huge stuffed animals to win, cart vendors everywhere, the original Nathan's and (unfortunately) garbage strewn all over. It was still pretty seedy and packed back then even though the beach was closed due to the horrid state they were in at the time.
I'm amazed that rollercoaster has lasted all these years, even more so because by the time I had ridden it as a kid for the last time... it was already over 40 years old.
Apparently this is one of the steepest wooden rollercoasters in the world, which is pretty impressive for a coaster built in 1927, long before Vekoma, RMC, Gravity Group and GCI revolutionised wooden coasters.
No fair! I've always wanted to ride this as a kid!
This makes me miss NY so much!!
Summer 1961, I was 15 from Rowayton Conn. w/ my buddy. We met two girls probably 14 years old from Fairlawn NJ. Asked em if they wanted to go on a ride. As we Slid into the Cyclone seat, she snuggled deep into my side w/ her arms around me. Heaven coulden’t have been better or more of a surprise.
Wow, GCI did an amazing retracking job!
First ever coaster keep it there
I'm still scared of the Cyclone knowing it's history. Literally knowing that a musical was actually created based off on the incidents.... yikes. I wouldn't ride it surprisingly, I love the thrill but no way am I gonna end up like Keith or... Noel Gruber from Ride the Cyclone.
Who's Keith?
Someone who died on the cyclone, his neck got terribly injured
hey if you ended up like the second one at least you'd get a taco bell meal named after you
THE HEAD OF THE GIRL SITTING NEXT TO ME FLEW OFF 🙀🙀🙀🙀
I’m going to Coney Island on August 25 for my 12th birthday! Definitely going on cyclone
This roller coaster is epic!!!
Reminds me of the big dipper at Blackpool pleasure beach. Can't wait to ride this in 3 weeks time
I really wish people could experience the Coney CYCLONE I rode in the early 70's! It was intense but not bumpy. FAST, graceful, the lap bar didn't push you into the seat when they locked you in, You had room for the INTENSE air on hills 3, 5 and most of the rest of the ride. It was like a ballet. PERFECT! BUT I am happy she is still standing and running. People would understand what all the fuss was about if they would somehow be able to experience that ride.
Went on this today my first rollercoaster..
Traumatized for life
Edit: omg I can't believe I found this it's 2023 now and I am going back to Luna park this year
At least you weren’t with a choir on September 14 on 6:17 am
guys.. I was there when it happened. I was 7. I almost died but I broke my wrist. I also have a scar on my left wrist. I loved that roller coaster.
Never going on here again. 0:42 lost my head and everything 💀
Ive been to cony island once and I was an inch to short to go on the cyclone when I was like 7 and I cried and I just rememberd that and looked this up for the experience at 1:12 am lol
Ah i remember on Monday September 14th 6 teenagers boarded the cyclone roller coaster at 6 17 p.m at 6:19 this same roller coaster front axle would break causing it to derail the apex of the loop de loop causing the children to fall to their death tho I can’t recall or remember the sixth one name or how looked liked hm…
I live on the Central Coast of California and have rode The Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz more times than I can count. Hope to ride The Cyclone one day and be one of the few people who've ridden both rides.
I live in California and have ridden the Giant Dipper countless times, too. On a trip to NY in 2005, went out to Coney Island and rode the Cyclone, which is very similar looking to the Giant Dipper from the ground. However, they feel completely different from each other! The Giant Dipper is so much more fun and less painful. The Cyclone is much, much rougher and truly painful. After our ride, the operators were offering us a two-for-one price to ride it again, and we passed because it was just so miserable. With the Giant Dipper, you get off and run back to the line to go again. Happy to have the Giant Dipper on the west coast!
@@aggiesjc I'll take your word for The Cyclone being more painful than the giant Dipper, but the giant Dipper is no Picnic. Make no mistake, the giant Dipper is going to knock you around pretty good. When that rides over, you know you've been through an ordeal.
that first drop. handle because the coaster intensifies. the best coaster on the planet
Love this ride
Nice! Still one of the best and most efficient wooden coasters!
One of the best ever.
When I was seven years old, I wasn’t tall enough to go on the ride and I was really upset. But then a year later I went on it and I was GLAD I didn’t go on it a year before.
Rode it last week. Fast and rough as hell. Just like it has always been.
Yes, it does. Not an absurd amount, but plenty to make it extremely fun.
It’s crazy how slow it runs in this video. I thought it was going to fail to complete the course a few times there.
Going tomorrow so scared but going to have funn
