I’ve seen it happen in many groups over the years & often end up being the rapper of their groups & it felt really annoying watching when that assumption happens, especially when that’s the position they ended up taking so it went right along with the stereotype. You're being low key hostile insulting me like that for not liking that I said the rap stereotype specifically spans to foreigners in general when I never said or discredited anything else that was said. If you weren't so biased about the rap stereotype you'd have noticed other foreigners getting stereotyped with it numerous times in the past just for being from America, mixed, etc. & That's all my intention ever was, not about any of the other stereotypes.

As a black woman, when people describe us as being “tough”, I understand they think it’s a compliment. But actually it along the lines of stereotypical and offensive because it brings it back to the stereotype of black women being more masculine with no emotions or feelings like we can’t get hurt or be emotional just like any other raced women. And as a black american woman, it especially is offensive because of how black women were treated during slavery as though my ancestors were not human, that we were objects, where they did all kinds of experiments on as well.

The angry black woman or tough aggressive black woman stereotype goes so deep and is even harder to get rid of. It’s sad.
Warning: y’all might be offended by what I say so please read it all and understand it’s MY opinion and it’s not made to drag anyone.💕💕
Edit: A lot is being said in the comments.
First off, Fatou is probably better at Korean than Felix from skz I’m not saying that to be rude. I’m saying that because she already had a career in Korea, was living there, was modeling, was friends with people there. Do not invalidate her time there but we also need to realise that it can be hard for cultures to accept others. Being ignorant however, that needs to be done with. We can all learn from each other.
Second off, their company has worked with a black female before. It didn’t go well. And for Fatou to be fairing way better than Alex and she’s a dark skin is absolutely amazing to me and I will always support her.
Third off, there was a comment about culture. “American” culture is new. And people will still argue that us Americans meaning the USA don’t really have one. It’s your opinion. But let’s not ignore the fact that “American” culture is built on the backbone of black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Jewish, Italian, Latino, and Asian cultures. And much more. It’s a mixing pot for a reason. So yes, there are certain things that some races and ethnicities brought to the table in term of culture.
2nd Edit: If my use of the word female, offended you, I am sorry. But it was not use in a negative sense. I refer to my own self as a black female or a black woman. For me, it doesn’t mean anything because the connotation is different.
    Once again, I’m sorry.
Edit 3: Felix is in no way shape or form being dragged. If y’all think that what I said is shitting on him when in fact it was true, when he started he was learning the language, that’s a problem. I never said “omg he’s so terrible he’s the worst he can’t speak the language.” I’m just pointing out that a Korean person was given less lines at first because of skills but eventually improved with the language and is fluent while a dark skin person who has been in the country already working got the comment that her Korean is not good. There was no hate. It seems as if every opinion someone will disagree but please see the connotation I used. You see an idol’s name not being used to get people to like them or point out talent and immediately think, “omg she’s hating.” I love Felix and have been a stay since the survival show. I know his Korean was not the best and THATS OKAY it’s called learning. I’m one that wants him to have more lines now, so you see why I kind of mentioned him along with her. And stop babying idols, especially grown people. If someone stated that I was not the best at a language at some point and it’s the truth, it’s not dragging a person, it’s making an observation.
At this point I’m sorry for offending y’all and shall soon stop responding to comments because I’ve already explained multiple things before. Just please don’t miss the main point 💕

i just don’t understand what is masculine about black women?? we’re literally the most feminine people on earth down from the countless hairstyles to the nails and clothes to dancing styles. it makes no sense to me how we are seen as manly because we have certain skin tones or features. not to mention black people and Asian people share similar features because of similar phenotypes which is why we can look like eachother 😭ik it’s antiblackness and colorism, but it also almost feels like Interalized racism within themselves. i hope one day these stereotypes can leave the k-industry, especially when kpop wouldn’t exist without black people

Fatou is such a classy woman. The few videos I've seen of her, I love! She's great. And she's really shutting these racist stereotypes down clearly but nicely, even though she doesn't have to be nice about it. Must be hard coming into a very homogenous culture, which the Korean (especially kpop) society is, and standing out as a black person. She's very strong for tackling the racism and doing her thing, which she does so well!

Ahhh I feel so represented, it’s so great to see a black girl talk about these things and also being in a kpop group. That’s so cool, and I’m glad the industry is getting more diverse. Blackswan look so great, I’m gonna check it out. :)

This awareness and conversation is important. I’m so proud of Fatou, the first fully black idol speaking on this topic and seeing people stereotype you just because the color of your skin is tough and tiring. It’s really sad to see such negative stereotypes placed on black women in 2022, it can be dangerous to assume we’re so tough, even in unsafe situations when we need protection. We are just like any other woman. Black people don’t all act and think the same. I hope that more people can become educated and pass that knowledge along to stop the prejudice and stereotypes.

I LOVE HER ALREADY. I'm so happy for her, I'm actually crying. This is rare in korea. Their group actually broke the white porcelain doll standard.

I’m surprised about the amount of cultural education the Koreans have. In school in the US I was definitely taught that in different countries, they have populations of other ethnic groups sometimes because of certain reasons. Like I wasn’t surprised by the Japanese-Brazilian ancestry Leia had at all. US education isn’t the best but I knew that much.

Fatou is dealing with this so well, so collected and friendly and mature 🙌 she's so impressive tbh, it must be hard debuting as the "first black person in kpop" and then always having that image with you to 'defend'

They should also stop playing rap music whenever a black person appears in a variety show. I find that to be inappropriate and stereotypical.

Goes to show that you guys are the most sensitive bunch 😆. We've been making jokes about the stereotypes you guys made for us while you are here stomping ur feet's at this. Koreans even make way worse comments on us compared to what you see in this video. Dont be acting like you guys dont make stereotypes yourself.

I know many black girls and myself that aren’t tough and rough.
Although as a black girl it makes be sad, I get there are stereotypes and ignorant comments hard to get rid of, it’s all about trying to educate yourself.
