Of course, as a Brazilian I know who Gabi is, but I never got to know her very deeply and I'm positively surprised by her general knowledge. She spoke very well about everything and, like the good Brazilian that she is, she didn't hide the problems we still have in our country and spoke openly about it. Thanks for this class Gabi.

@ sim, quando perguntaram sobre sotaques acredito que ou ela se confundiu com a pergunta, não entendeu ou apenas não sabia, mas o erro não foi tão grave como já vimos alguns brasileiros nesses sites coreanos cometendo, no meu ponto de vista.

Ela explicou muito mal algumas coisas ali como não falar sobre a diferença de sotaques e outros idiomas que tbm são consideravelmente falados no Brasil além do português, disse que a Amazônia é a maior floresta do Brasil em vez de dizer que é a maior do mundo, disse que o brasil foi COLONIZADO por vários países, o que dá uma impressão errada, mas entendo que ela não precisa saber de tudo e o idioma pode atrapalhar um pouco o entendimento.
@@danillopetrova Eu acredito que o idioma pode ter atrapalhado também. Visto que apesar dela saber coreano ela também não é uma nativa, e ainda deve haver alguma barreira de comunicação entre eles. Sobre a colonização, acho que ela quis falar um pouco sobre como a Espanha tentou tomar o Brasil, porém nossa colônia foi feita por Portugal e apesar de estarmos na América latina falamos português. Mas como disse, acho que tudo se dá em barreira do idioma, algum tipo de falta de conhecimento em alguns assuntos e a interpretação do tradutor também conta bastante.

If you're really interested in learning Brazilian portuguese, do it, it is a very beautiful language. Sometimes, it's hard, but it is a rich language. Besides, we love slangs and speak informally, but not necessarily in an unrespectiful way. Also, we have a lot to show culturally!

For those who were curious about brazilian culture, there are a few questions i'd like to detail...
1 - Are there different languages people use in Brazil? What Gabi replied is partially correct. We don't speak only portuguese. At the beginning of the colonial period, Portuguese settlers had to learn the native language (Tupi-Guarani) to communicate and to catechize the indigenous people. So in the beginning the most spoken language was tupi (by the way, if you take a look at our map, most cities have indigenous names instead of european names). As these native peoples were catechized (sometimes even exterminated and exploited) Portuguese became the most widely spoken language by everyone, and today it is considered the official language of our country. However, historically, Brazil has received cultural influences from several other colonies (Dutch, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Lebanese, Gypsy, Jewish, Japanese, Chinese, African, Indian, English, Venezuelan), so Portuguese and Spanish are NOT the only languages spoken here. In the South many people speak German, while in the North they speak Guarani, Guajajara, Yanomami, Caiapó, and in the Northeast we have the famous "chinatowns" full of Asian families. There are also many quilombos in Northeast, where Afro-descendants have cultivated the traditions and dialects of their ancestors for centuries. That's why we have countless unique accents (gaúcho, carioca, cearense, paulistano, pernambucano, baiano, mineiro, maranhense, sertanejo) and mixed customs and traditions...
2 - Are there any problems around the border where they are next to other countries? Yes, there are many many problems, such as drug trafficking, land invasions, trafficking of animals considered "exotic" and illegal sale of birds, exploitation of local tribes, exploitation of natural resources and mining. These problems are treated with extreme seriousness and every day we have news about fires, murders, drug seizures or things like that. Also, the region of Acre was bought in 1903 by Brazil (it belonged to Bolivia, but was bought in Petropolis treaty). As Gabi said, the South region also goes through something similar. The brazilian regions have so many crazy differences between them that every now and then debates arise about "fragmenting" Brazil and forming new nations. In fact, this type of discussion has always existed, throughout history there have been several Brazilian regions that have warred against the current political system (Confederation of Equator, Praieira Revolution, War of the Farrapos, Pernambuco Revolution, Cabanagem, etc).
3 - Can you tell us why people in Brazil use portuguese? Well... This is a long history, but basically Spain had colonized the entire Latin America, while Portugual colonized all of Brazil. Through the Treaty of Tordesillas, the two nations demarcated what each other's territory was (so Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia speak Spanish, but Brazil speaks Portuguese). Although both languages are Latin, many Brazilians do not consider themselves Latin in the socio-political context, our societies have big differences starting with the language.
4 - Does Brazil have some kind of honorific way of speaking too? Yes, but it is more common in "traditional" families. Usually young people use "Senhor"/"Senhora" to refer to their parents, grandparents, teachers, clients, or elderly people. Sometimes we use "Você" to talk to colleagues and strangers of the same age group, and "Tu" to talk to our close friends and relatives. In some regions we have very funny treatment pronouns that we use on a day-to-day basis, like "Chefia" (boss) or Doutor (doctor), Gata (kitty), Bicha (bitch, gay), Querida (honey), Amada (darling), Anjo (angel), Satanás (satan 😅 )... So when someone is pissed off with an annoyin child they can say "Ei Satanás! Te aquieta!" (like "Damn, be quiet!")... or "Tudo bem com você, meu anjo?" (Are you ok, angel?)... Sometimes when we want to treat someone with affection we also say prince/princess ("Te amo, minha princesa!" / "I love you, princess).
5 - How was samba made and what its purpose? It's reallly hard to explain because Samba history is pretty complex! Basically, Brazil was the south american country with the largest slave trade and all its political power was in slavery. The Africans who were brought to the colony ended up greatly influencing our history with their ancestral customs and styles, generating new dances, songs, words, beliefs... So Samba is an African cultural "heritage", as well as Capoeira, Umbanda and Candomblé. The Brazilian states with greatest African influence are Bahia, Pernambuco, Maranhão, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, where Samba, Pagode, Carimbó, Maracatu, Reggae, Merengue, Forró, Frevo, Axé, Coco, Lambada, Arrasta-pé and Batucada are very popular.
6 - How big Amazon is? The Amazon is so large that it is part of the territory of other Latin countries, there are about THIRTY MILLION animal species and forty thousand plant species!

It would be hard to try and summarise so much about where you come from, let alone represent a place as large and as diverse as Brazil. From an outsiders perspective, I thought Gabi did a good job? I hope the Brazilian viewers think so too - I would be very nervous.

@@tsuyuasui7297 for context, the northern areas of brazil are historically african and indigenous (due to colonization, we were basically a exploration/slavery/plantation area leading to poverty to this day as we were one of the last countries to abolish slavery, 135 years ago)
the southern areas are historically whiter and richer/more developed, they’re often ignorant about the reality and history of the northerners, even discriminatory sometimes, there’s a big issue of xenophobia that they don’t often acknowledge, the situation that she mentioned of the bottom of the south wanting to separate from the rest of the country was basically racists from european communities angry at the north and saying that they’re practically europeans and barely latin americans, so didn’t want to be associated with us, it was stupid
most brazillians we see abroad are southerners because they’re usually the ones that have these types of opportunities, and usually represent our country as just their developed europeanized bubble, even saying that brazil/our culture is not that different from north america, but our south and north are like two different countries, they got a lot more europeanized like the US, cause the colonizers preferred to develop the south more for themselves and the north for exploration and slave trade, portugal even stated the whitening policies that brought more european men over so the population would be whiter and that they would spread white blood to the future generations through women of color, thus creating a mixed race called “pardo” (still legally used today) to discourage people from self identifying as black or indigenous, and making each generation look whiter, so we wouldn’t be a mainly black country (most indigenous people did not survive)
i look white today, as well as some family members, because of a lineage of indigenous women that married and had kids with Portuguese men as a byproduct of these policies (at least in the last century it wasn’t commonly an “arranged”/“purchase” thing, it kinda became the norm, as my grandma i live with did the same, but my grandpa was a gentle guy)
the men being the white part of the relationship also prevented the women and children from straying from white christian traditions, teachings, and lifestyles, effectively strengthening the continuation of the erasure of non white pagan cultures and eradicating several ethnicities and languages that couldn’t be passed down
because of this, the whiter the blood/area, the more they’re influenced by these colonialist tactics, detaching the people from understanding our origins, and leading them to only be exposed to/identify with what the colonizers wanted, it makes a lot of people not take any of the atrocities of our history seriously and deny the effects that are still going to this day

For anyone watching and this is your first time viewing anything Blackswan related I would love to share a tad bit of info about the group with you.
They are under DR Entertainment and debuted in 2020 as a 5-member girl group consisting of Hyeme, Leia, Youngheun, Judy, and Fatou. Due to a whole lot of situations, 4 of the OG members are no longer with us. Currently, the line-up consists of 4 non-ea foreign members, and we have truly lucked out. There are rumors and speculations that the company might move forward with adding a Korean and/or Japanese member within the year. Still, it's not official and I'm just saying this so ur not surprised if it were to happen. (personally wouldn't care either way since our current girls are already so amazing).
They just had a comeback that was highly inspired by Indian culture, titled Karma!! The filming was a collaboration between a Korean director and an Indian director. The company had the help of the government of Odisha (the hometown of the Indian member) which help them to have access to highly monumental areas/buildings to film in. They filmed with local dancers and other local film staff. All in all the comeback was just highly Indian-centric! They plan on diving into the other cultures within the group during their next comebacks (who knows they might be going to Brazil next)!! Next month they have promotions for their other track on that album called Cat and Mouse (check it out it's amazing😉) and in September they have a tour in Asia. 🐹Gabi ( Brazilian with a mother of German descent) is currently the main visual, vocalist, and dancer. (The one in this video)
🐼Sriya( Indian) is currently the main dancer, vocalist, sub-rapper, and maknae. (The one that is mentioned in this video and filmed with them before)
