When I was 9 years old, I was playing with some hotwheels at school and there was this one car that was really slick and different looking. It just looked fast. I said, "I'm gonna have one of these one day." I flipped the car over to see what kind it was and that was the first time I read the word Lamborghini. Fast forward to today, 21 years later. I look in my garage to see, sitting in the dark: nothing. I rent, I don't have money for a garage, let alone a Lamborghini. What, did you think this would be an inspiring story or something?
Kinda
I downright knew it was saddening
I hope ur luck improves and u buy prieus someday

In case anyone wonders, the Countach in Wolf of Wallstreet was a real one because the director thought that destroying a replica wouldn't look real. However, after filming was done the car got restored to it's former glory
Thank you for putting my mind at ease :)
The sad part is jordan belfort destroyed a mercedes in real life instead of a countach. I guess that wasn't flashy enough for the movie. There were 2 cars in the movie. The movie studio owned the one that was destroyed and there was a second privately owned one for some of the driving shots. I met the gentleman who owns that car last summer at an Italian car show.
Nope dicaprio told on radio in Dubai that it was a Mercedes benz
It's an Anniversary; kill them all.
Scorcese gets a pass on that one
My great grandfather was friends with Ferrucio Lamborghini and had him build a custom Countach in the 70's. He passed away before I could remember him but I always remember the stories of the amazing exotic car collection he had.
If you Google Albert Silvera Countach, you'll see articles about it. It even was the main cover photo of one of Car and Driver's magazine issues. It's been passed down by different collectors since then, but I would love to see it in person someday.
The OG Countach is simply the best looking car of all time. Beating out even the Testarossa in terms of sheer visual WOW factor. its pure, refined, unadulterated beauty

Donut Media missed-out the fact that Walter Wolf - Countach was turbocharged (V12+twin turbo) that car was close to 800 bhp and 208 miles/hour !!!..
and they also missed / forget talking about the latest mild-hybrid Countach re-incarnation 2021-2022 > ''50 - Anniversary Countach LPI-800''..
Fun fact: The LP500 QV was designed by a man who was just starting in the car industry called Horario Pagani
One of the first carbon fiber subframe cars that Pagani did crafted is the Evoluzione. Sadly the only prototype was crash tested.
He designed the 1988-1991 25th Anniversary Edition
Yup! Only true Lambo buffs know that one!
@Jonathan Terrio He is the founder of Pagani Automobili S.p.A.
@@doigy_rxc1127 Yeah but what has he done SINCE founding Pagani Automobili S.p.A?
The story about the name coming from the unveiling is often repeated, but actually according to Gandini (in the article "Not Just Bulls: the Creator Tells Us the Story Behind the Name Countach") they had a profiler on the team who made the locks and did other little jobs and who used that swear often; Gandini joked that they should use that as the name, other people liked it, and the joke name became the real name.

@@PawPawPandas
They’ve added a lot more personality to the shows, that’s what you mean!
14:38 not only it was a real Countach, it was actually one of the 658 Countach 25th Anniversary models produced
I got to ride in one as a kid, ~160 mph in one of the 25th anniversary editions back in 1997 down the 405 freeway in Los Angeles. My mom's friend owned one, that moment alone made me fall in love with Lamborghini, the engine noise was so loud the dude had helicopter comms headsets in the car so he could talk to passengers. One of my best memories from childhood, I'll never forget that car it was Gloss white with blue leather interior. It broke my heart watching one get nuked in TWoWS.
Why the hell did they destroyed such classic?
I feel like "Factor" was like "no, no, no. It's our advertisement, you have to say what we want you to say in our way (and nothing zany), and don't put the yellow bar showing the progress of the ad..." And yet this is the first time ever that I have skipped an ad on this channel.

I remember the first time I saw the beginning of Cannonball Run in the late 80s. I sort of knew what the Countach was from seeing it on posters and trapper keepers, and I had a transformer that turned into a red countach, but I’d never seen one in action before
People always broke the doors off my transformer toy because the didn’t understand how they were supposed to open. Had to superglue them back
You had Sideswipe!
The open scenes to The Cannonball Run.... OH THE SONG OF THAT SCREAMING COUNTACH STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS... no really I just watched the first 4 minutes of the movie again! Great episode!
James, 🤟 this was without a doubt one of your most epic episodes. Period. Pure genius, both for its info and comedic value. Bravo man bravo 🎉
This is by far the best episode of up to speed since the format change. I really enjoyed the bits. I hope to see more like it.
The countach is where my love for cars began. I’ll never forget seeing it for the first time in San Francisco at a car show when I was 6. I loved it so much my dad bought me a black toy model of it
These videos get better with every episode. And I've been watching for a long time. James is only two years younger than myself and I absolutely love the references he makes that are iconic to his and my era. Keep it up. Subscriber for life baby!
Why do these up to speed episodes like this make me wanna cry at the end? Maybe just great storytelling about complete driven passion. I love what you do James
Honestly the 12 exhaust tips on the S version is so gnarly....
Those are for the film car only, the real production car has the standart 4 tips. Also the front "spoiler" is to conform with US laws and is designated as "bumper" just to make the papers work "for legal purposes"
Ferrari la Ferrari= Ferrari the Ferrari
Lamborghini Countach: Lamborghini holy sh*t
Perfect.
this guy gets it
@@Donut I'm guessing there's a way to not have more nsfw bots than people in your comments. Why?
The drivetrain packaging between the Miura and Countach was a little more nuanced. Because the v12 in the Miura was transverse, the gearbox was mounted inside the engine crankcase for packaging. This raises the engine higher in the chassis than it normally would’ve be, which is bad for Center of Gravity. By putting the gearbox in front of the engine in the Countach, both the engine and gearbox can be lower in the chassis which lowers the CG which is good for handling and safety,
When I think of the Countach I think of the old days and that makes me like the cars more. The boys in our family used to sit and talk and dream about those cars because we didn't have the Internet to allow us to pull one up when we wanted to see one.Back in those days there were other exotic cars, but nothing compared to the Countach. It was not until Lamborghini started making the Diablo and then some of the other cars that I had seen another vehicle that I wanted that much.
These videos makes our days better

A few years ago I was at a gas station in Utah in my 2006 LPE-606 c6 z06 corvette and enjoying my night, when a sound I’d never heard neared , I turned to the entrance and here come the first Countache I’ve ever seen and it flew in the entrance bashing the shit out of the front lower bumper dragging it up the slope and the drive pushed on the accereator forcing the bumper up the concrete. I wanted to cry, it was a worse sound than nails on a chalk board. The legend pulls in in front of my car and I notice it’s disgustingly dirty, surely hadn’t been washed in a good 6 months or more and the back of the car up the tail above the exhaust tips was black from the exhaust fading up the paint it was so sad, door opened and a freakin 16 year old kid gets out , I recognized him as one of the slammed Subaru STI kids , his was pretty awesome, full interior cage , Rotta wheels and a big turbo. I walked up and had to see if it was a real one or replica and it was real, I asked him what the story was and he said his grandpa was Charles Schultz , the Peanuts cartoon comic writer. He passed away and his daughter, this kids mom moved into his alpine utah mansion and apparently it had an under aground garage with a bunch of 80’s exotics. He said they never drive them becasue their a pain in the ass and uncomfortable and I wanted to punch him in the mouth. I told him it was a dream car of mine and that he really needs to have it detailed. He laughed and then got in driving off. How could a young kid not appreciate driving a damn beautiful red Countache??? So sad.

Im sad that he missed two important things about the Cannon Ball run countach, it was the same one that was imported by the guy for the real cannon ball run, it was also the reason that they stopped having the cannonball run because the guy that ran it, was worried that the guy who bought it would wreck it.
