Marianne Faithful jamming with the Kings.
After the first nnananas.....I love how he jumps right back in, the timing arrangement is strong. king James!!!
I always thought this song was a veiled shot at Axl Rose. James Hetfield famously called Axl a “Primadonna” in an interview after Axl behaved like a diva at a Canadian Show and walked off early. Riots ensued. Axl could have prevented it, but he “didn’t like the way” his voice sounded that night. So, a riot erupted amongst fans who paid for a co-headlined Metallica and Gun ‘n Roses show. Metallica went on first and played their set. Guns ‘n Roses stopped playing almost immediately and Axl Rose walked off stage.
I've always thought the same thing, and there's even more circumstantial evidence. That show in Canada, Metallica didn't make through their set. James accidentally walked into a pyrotechnic effect and was set on fire during the song fade to black. He had to be rushed to the ER. he said he remembers them having to cut his rings off because they were cutting blood supply off to his swollen fingers. Guns n roses started their set and then quit. Riots ensued.
So you have heavy rings on fingers, faded prima Donna, can't the band play on, listen they play song and fade to black, the "na na na" sound like Axl... all in this song.
😲 that’s crazy
That's the show James got severely burned and guns n roses could of been the hero of the day....I did hear James wrote hero of the day after him.
The "Nananana..." part was sing by Marianne Faithfull ;)
Was about to post this, that it wasn’t James, it was Marianne.
Metallica is known as one of the big 4 of metal for a reason. Was watching an interview couple days ago and Kirk Hammett says the band hasn’t even peaked yet and has several more years of music coming
I never fully got into the sound they had on Load and Reload but somehow this one immediately struck a chord with me. Thanks for this one Dave!
I forgot how great this song is! awesome selection Dave! great video!
I read the comments to make sure you were told about Marianne Faithful and the Nannanas. We already have James saying he's a table, we dont need his nananas misled for Marianne Faithfuls. MetallicA fans know what Im talking about.🤘😉
Whuddup Dave! This song got me into Metallica; music video played on MTV twice or three times an hour. Glad to hear you’re feeling better, bud. God Speed and be safe!
Please check out Metallica "moth into flame" off their latest album. It's just like their old material!
Second that
Good song! Never listened to this one before, so thanks for adding a new song to my playlist.
I have heard Metallica play this song live back in 2019 it was fucking amazing and awesome! :D
Fun Fact: The woman who sings the haunting, unsettling ending and bridge is a British woman by the name of Marianne Faithfull. She started out as a member of London's '60s swing scene, moving up slowly through a life of love, loss, and drug abuse. A cohort of The Rolling Stones, she dated Mick Jagger for a while.
Dave, do the S&M 2 2019 live version - I was at the show and it was AMAZING!!!
If you can you should try to do the S&M2 version because at the end the crowd goes on for a long time with the “nanana” part and it’s really cool to hear. All the live versions I’ve seen have been great though so it probably doesn’t really matter which you do.
The lady singing is Marianne Faithfull.
I have seen this Song live in 2019 2 times. I love it live a lot more When all the fans sing 🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼 Please react to Cologne 2019 live. I was at this concert 🤘🏼
SM2 live version is the best of this song. Or you can do live version from the movie “ Through the Never”
🤘😎🤘 What it do Dave
You need to experience this one live... You just have to.
It amazes me that this album split the fandom.
It really did..some of us older fans knew metallica was evolving ever since Justice.. Black was a totally different sound so on and so forth.. So when this came out allot of people literal lost their shit over it. Personally I look at every album differently as if a new band recorded it, and every album they released kicked ass in it's own right.
The song is about a celebrity who is fading into obscurity and it is driving her mad. The theme is similar to that of the movie Sunset Boulevard. Might be a jab to Axl Rose, the faded 'primadonna'
I got this notification. I'll let you know if I get the rest today
And here I am sir. More Metallica!! 😂
I know this is a couple months late, but they did this song with Marianne Faithful on SNL when Reload came out. It's a great version of it.
Once songs that the fans hate , today are their most loved….
So if you're wanting to check out and react to more Live Metallica, this is one of the ones I'd suggest. It's one of the most crowd participating songs in their catalog. The performance of this on their first S&M was one of my favorites on the album because of the crowd.
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Waiting for live version reaction
You are very interesting to watch, seems like you're extremely open-minded and have no prejudices when it comes to most things, especially music 😀
Hey Dave, hope you doin' well🙏
If you haven't already I'd recommend reacting to Halo On Fire and Dream No More by MetallicA (off their latest album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct)
Much Love & Respect🙏🤘
Second Halo on Fire!
Marianne Faithfull and Tallica baby
I've always viewed this song as an ode to faded starlets
Low man's lyric!!!! God damnit!!!!
If rock n roll itself had a theme song, this would be the vibe
Love all your videos. have you tried and checked Dead by april out? a really good rock band from sweden
React to the live version from the movie "Through the never"
Yioooooo hî
s&m version does'nt have a video if you can find it. should be fine to react to
You should check the S&M 1999 performance of the Memory Remains as well as the other perfomances, S&M 1999 to me is their best concert
This is not my favorite era from Metallica. Having said that, I'm glad we have it. Metallica will never again put out music like the did in the 80s, but this is still very good. I'd much rather have new Metallica than have no new Metallica, wishing they'd drop just one more album.
Rumor has it this song was written about Dave Mustaine of Megadeth
Mustaine is a second rate hack. James is King!
I can't tell if you're serious or memeing
@@metetural9140 which comment?
@@onemangang2010 yours mate
@@metetural9140 thats the rumor based off of Mustaines constant whining about being kicked out of Metallica and how he should be in the best metal band ever.
Just read the lyrics and think of Mustaine and you can see why it is possible
I don't like the studio version, but damn the live version is amazing
!!!!
Right only the s&m versions are in my playlist 🤘🏻
My dad has the same thing only his are fake lol 😆
Not Metallica singing the nananana's.
My man if you want the hardest song of 2021 you have to watch lorna shore to the hellfire but watch the lyric video cause original is copyrighted
More load and re load songs
The s&m version is 100 times better, is that copyright blocked?
The video is, not the audio.
