Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
yes pleaseeee
Pleaseeee yes
But be sure to get the Guitar Hero version, because the mixing isn't fucked on that one
Wait they haven't done it? wow
Yes, but please do the official video! Love Metallica but not a fan of their live music. Plus, its a good video!
Pls do "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" from Metallica. It's an incredible song!
Yes please!!!!
Same as the day that never comes, how is it possible they didn't react to it yet?
This!
YES

Load and reload era Metallica needs to get some more respect.. this is a great song with a haunting backdrop. Next you should try Metallica the house that Jack built
Andrew Smokler At least they didn’t pack it in when dude fucked his vocal cords. Gotta give respect for that.
@Alexander bleeding me is probably my favorite song off the album personally
Outlaw Thorn!!! Best song of all the newer albums.
I took me a long time to come back around to listening to and accepting the "therapy albums" phase of Metallica's history.
Totally agree.
Studio version is much better (James's voice sounds awful on this one), but I *know* they would've just laughed at Marianne Faithfull's vocals.
Sori is always listening these song the first time, I don't get why they listen to live versions. It's like shooting yourself in the leg. Seriously, they are fucking handicapping themselves. It's ridiculous
@@P0lkoli it depends on the band. Live versions by GREAT bands are normally superior. Plus, live versions often don't cause copyright issues, unlike their studio equivalents.
Marianne Faithfull is my favorite singer. I love her voice. She actually did this song live with them a few years back
are you just stupid ? metallica is the best live band you can imagine
@@P0lkoli Sori listened this Song the first time 2019??
I don't know why people hate this album and this song in specific. I love it. ❤
This song is one from the age of Metallica that a lot of diehards didn't like. By the standards of Metallica, it's mediocre, by the standards of music at that time (near the turn of the century) it was fairly good. I can't deny James' almost poetic ability with writing lyrics. Hope you feel better soon Sori, rest up!
I was pretty disappointed by this album, however, this is my favorite song live. Glad to see they did the live version.
@@reikoshea But nowadays you like ReLoad. Right?
@Felix Fox I felt like the Black Album was almost necessary. It brought metal to the public and it was the first Metallica I listened to when I was a teenager. I bet a lot of people can say the same
I wouldn't say Re/Load was mediocre, it was just different. There is some good music there.
@@beckersteen4 Load is amazing. My 4th favorite Metallica album after MOP, RTL, and AJFA. ReLoad was average imo
Metallica - the outlaw torn S&M version
Martin Simeonov I loved the s&m stuff have the album and dvd I always thought that was there peak until a few years ago when I found out the went through it and did auto tune parts of it before release so that kinda wrecked it for me I still like it but don’t really listen to it after I found that out
metallica - until it sleeps (video)
Yes
Or maybe the S&M version
@@UmairAR23 nah the S&M version was played too fast
@@stevenbaksh5545 Fair enough. Would like to see them react to s&m version of outlaw torn. One of my personal favourites
wasting my hate
thorn within
They always speed up songs live haha. Blind Guardian - Valhalla live, best crowd evahh!!!
Make sure its from imaginations through the looking glass
Tokio Tales one of the best Live albums ever made
Was just about to suggest this!
On the studio-version the public singing was done by Marianne Faithfull, a faded prima donna.
The Load/ReLoad era is criminally underrated
One of the main things I loved when I found this channel, is that they didn't completely feel like reactions (even though they are).
It felt more like a metalhead converting someone else into a metalhead, which strangely enough, I'm addicted to.
Love the videos! More Load and Reload please!
Aw Sori has so much wisdom. (Vin does too, of course :)) She should not ever feel embarrassed! I love your videos; I feel like I'm hanging out with you guys listening to music and talking about life.
Please, do King Diamond - "Abigail" full album reaction/review. It's a great horror story you've to finish and hear from beginning to end.
Their "Songs for the Dead Live" DVD/Bluray will be available January 25th. It contains the "Abigial" album in its entirety. As a matter of fact twice; two very different live performances (Philadelphia's Fillmore 2015 and Graspop Metal Meeting 2016) that showcases how good and theatrical they're live. King is 62, but still hits those high pitched falsetto notes he's known for.
For a preview out off "Songs for the Dead Live", you can check out video: King Diamond "Sleepless Nights (Live at The Fillmore)" (OFFICIAL). It's off "Conspiracy" album.
I know it's been stated before...and I'll add my voice to the chorus. If you want to see an involved crowd, there is only one video. Rush. "YYZ". Rio. Not only do you have a crowd singing and dancing along to the song...it's an instrumental. Yep, singing along to an instrumental song. Chew on that for a while.
Gd reaction from my 2favorite ppl in the world.Happy New Year to both uses...Happy HEALTHY
Metallica- Until it Sleeps! *ICONIC SONG* from that era!!!!!!!!!
The woman who sings the haunting, unsettling
ending and bridge is a British woman by the name of Marianne Faithfull.
She started out as a member of London's '60s swing scene, moving up
slowly through a life of love, loss, and drug abuse. A cohort of The
Rolling Stones, she dated Mick Jagger for a while.
>>
The song is about a celebrity who is fading into obscurity and it is driving her mad. The theme is similar to that of the movie Sunset Boulevard.
Some of Faithfull's lyrics ("Say yes... at least say hello...") were taken from the Marilyn Monroe movie The Misfits.
When Metallica plays this live, the crowd sings Faithfull's parts. Metallica Faithfull recalled to Billboard magazine how the
collaboration happened. "I was in Ireland, quietly living my beautiful
life, and suddenly the phone rang and this voice said, 'Hello, Marianne
Faithfull? This is Lars from Metallica,'" she said. "And then the story
unfolded that what they wanted was to fly to Dublin and to record me for
'The Memory Remains' and put me on the song and that's what they did.
And I made great friends with them of course and we stayed in touch."
This concert was broadcasted live on national Swedish television. The big four.
I was in the stadium. Awesome evening.
The most impressive crowd is Argentina, they started this chorus in between the riffs to Megadeths symphony of destruction that caught on and ended up being song by twenty or so other countries.
Death - Crystal Mountain.
Death - Voice Of The Soul.
Both together.
You guys wanna be amazed by a crowd reaction? You need to watch Iron Maiden "Fear of the dark" (from rock in rio)
Really. Fear of the Dark at Rock in Rio is Awesome
Fear of the Dark Flight 666 superior version imo
Metallica~ Creeping Death~ Moscow '91
mega herd nope. Rio is a better performance.
bitch please. just blind guardian-valhalla
my lil sis was in the "great 4" crowd and called me.. I couldn´t afford to go at the time and cried in the phone knowing 3 of my biggest favourites were there, I was crying like a child for half an hour :)
I was there, great gig started already around 5PM. Long but amazing day
Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells
Anthrax - In the End, In My World, Indians, Inside Out and What Doesn't Die
Starting Up a Possy, this was their reaction to Tipper Gore's Parental Advisory crusade, and hillarious, and rediculous.
Been a Metallica fan since the mid 80"s and always will like the older stuff more. With that said, I was not one that got mad at them as they progressed as they aged, I like most of it. The music was not as heavy but was still good. I would bet if the music they made (except for the St Anger garbage) was made by someone besides Metallica, most of those who don't like it because it's Metallica, would like it. Should react to Now That We're Dead or Atlas Rise, it's their newer stuff but pretty damn good.
I was there at that concert. It was amazing. Its from Sweden - Gothenburg. This was the Big4. Anthrax- Megadeth - Slayer and Metallica.
Machine Head - Halo (full version)
ᛞᛖᚾᚾᛁᛋ ᛏᚱᛟᚹᚨᛏᛟ yes please NOT the official music video. check the time it should be like 7 minutes or more
Megadeth Show called That One Night and the song is Syphony of Destruction. That chant in Brazil is haunting.
Lamb of God - One Gun ☠️
I was at the one and only Ozzfest featuring Metallica in 2008....10,000 people in the pit, alone. They opened with Creeping Death and played Ride the Lighting as the third song (my favorite Metallica song) which I crowd surfed to. If you find videos of it...you'll see me. They're amazing. They didn't play this song but we all sang along to everything. Also, two years ago when Iron Maiden was in Houston, I was in the pit and caught an autographed drumhead by Niko (the drummer). FUCKING AMAZING
ty for reacting to this live version i was in gothenburg and saw the show, its top 5 of all MetallicA shows ive seen so far, i think it was about 58k metalheads to see big 4 that night
i also read somewhere that they had to pay fines for playing too loud, they had to turn up the volume cause audience was too loud lol
Vin, your ''Dad assignment'' will never change brother. When Dorian is 25 he's gonna be calling his pops for guidance. Especially from you.
This concert was really big I was there I had a blast seeing them live for the first time
omg was there. best concert of my life
This has never been one of my favorite but I always love the crowd singing along.
The crowd chant is from the song, in the studio version an older lady sings that in the song.
Should react to the studio version those chorus a woman does it
Estuardo Batres Marianne Faithfull
Told them b4 to react to studio versions and THEN if they want they should react to concert stuff...
@@AkumaZabuza This. You miss things if you listen to the concert version first. Like this song for example. They missed the whole "hook" of the song because that part isn't played live.
Moonspell - Night Eternal
Moonspell - Alma Mater
The "Little Tin Goddess" part on the album version is sung by Marianne Faithful.. (the part that the crowd sings)
Interesting fact, on the album version of this song the wow chanting is done by either James Hetfield or Lars's mother. In fact I believe it's a tribute to the mother who passed away shortly after the cd came out
That "woohooo" in the crowd was because in the original studio version there's a lady who sings that in those parts
Yeah, but they didn't even chant it right :/ They just repeated the first part of the melody
You guys are amazing and i love watching your reactions i love rock music and you guys make it more fun to listen and appreciate music more
Ah the big 4 concert in Gothenburg, Sweden 2011. It was broadcasted on public service tv so I watched it from beginning to end. Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica to finish it off. It was such a magical evening that Metallica played like 4-5 bonus songs over their setlist for the night, I think it was the longest encore on the whole tour but don´t quote me on that.
“I can’t believe you don’t like this song... how DARE you.” 😂😂
Metallica- The House That Jack Built (Great song, just ignore the thing, you'll know what im talking about xD)
Finally someone in the knowing :)
Gothenburg! Did you see me Vin and Sori? I was there 🤘
I was at the show just before this one. This one was in Sophia Bulgaria. I was at the Prague show. On an old abandoned Red Army Air force Base. I've never seen anything like it befor
I would recommend Blind Guardian - Bard's Song (in the forest) LIVE, the crowd almost sing the whole song
Watch the studio release/official video for the song and you’ll understand exactly the crowd chant. Vin assessment of the song is pretty much spot on.
Yeah. I was on that concert. Probably my best concert by them. The Big 4 Live Ullevi Gothenborg 2011. What a setlist!!! Also to hear Call Of The Kthulu for the first time. Such a legendary song.
It was "just" the Big Four at this concert! Crazy day and night. First Anthrax who killed it 🤘🏻 after that Megadeth wich was the time i took a breather and bought me and my friends some beers. I don't dislike Megadeth but i think they are better in studio. Then fucking SLAAAYYYYEEEEER! ❤ And top it of with Metallica who played for at least 2 and a half hours 😍 epic night
Broke my nose during Slayers set and can't really remember much, other than that it was an excellent night!
Pure magic! Seen Metallica 14 times, this one pure magic
When was this? I remember hearing about them doing a show/tour together back in like late 2000s, '08-'09 or something.
2011, 4 of July in Gothenburg (Sweden). The whole event was live on Swedish state television
Still waiting for them to indulge in some Anthrax.
Marianne Faithfull sings the "la da da da" part. Marianne Faithfull was a singer in the 60's and was the girlfriend of Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. She also speaks the ending lyrics of this song which James didn't do. They are: "Say yes. At least say 'hello'."
This song also brings to mind the movie Sunset Boulevard in which a faded Silent Era film star lives in her crumbling estate and takes in a screenwriter on the run from debtors. Just like in the lyrics she believes herself to still be a huge star and denies that her time has passed her by. Check out the movie it's really good. Stars: Gloria Swanson and William Holden. Big time silent film director Cecil B. DeMille plays Swanson's butler.
I was there, at that concert. Nice one.
I LOVE this song. This is one of those songs that when you listen to it there is an unwritten rule that says you have to TURN IT UP !!! Usually I don't like live videos but when it comes to Metallica IT JUST ROCKS !!! The video to this song is awesome too. I don't think Metallica ever puts out a bad song.
Vin's on the right track; someone that had their 15 minutes of fame and their time in the sun and their light is going out and the "artist" goes insane from losing her fame.
This perfomance was from Gothenburg - Sweden, i remember the crowd was super loud in the end.
oh, sweden, i was there ^^ it was the big 4 event, Slayer, anthrax, megadeth and Metallica played sunday, Iron Maiden played the same venue that friday same weekend :)
That chant that the crowd was doing was part of the recording that was performed by Marianne Faithfull.
I feel like to really appreciate that track live you really need to have heard the original, and I am going to say anything from Load or Reload should probably be heard from the album or music video first. As someone who loved Tool & Pearl Jam far more than Metallica as a kid those albums were way more up my alley than the others because they were not only trying something new but I think they are examples of setting a goal for a song or piece of art and achieving it. There really did a lot with atmosphere and mood on those albums, instead of focusing on guitar wankery like the other bands leftover from '80s who survived the cultural purging of the hard rock and metal genres, (though Nirvana gets credit for that shift the pendulum was already swinging and the paradigm shift was underway regardless of who was given credit for it.)
This song is also how I found out about Marianne Faithfull. The crowd is singing Faithfull's part, however, if you didn't know that it just sounds like someone came up with something randomly and had an "interesting crowd moment," instead of seeing the call and response / collaborative element. The crowd is filling in for her, (she's in her 70s now and probably doesn't leave London much, but that's just a guess.)
I think "Until It Sleeps" is another perfect example of how different their sound was during this period, while still being a good song--music video envokes a lot of imagery from paintings of the renaissance era, (especially Hieronymus Bosch's "Garden Of Earthly Delights" triptych.)
Love the look at 9:25, came right after I thought to myself, "sometimes I wonder 'we're at 10 minutes no, how the hell is this video 30 minutes long?!"
Hope Sori is feeling better.
Around 21:20--I don't think any more people want to be famous than ever before or that social media is responsible for that boom, but that more people aren't killing that dream of fame because the narrative around social media and reality television has sold them on the idea that anyone can achieve fame using new technology, and while that isn't wrong, per se, it's how a person utilizes that technology--too many people think they can follow what they see as a template created by people who are highlighted in those narratives as having become famous for having utilized technology.
13:10 - “little tin goddess” is a Grammy or Emmy Award trophy?
One of the best songs on ReLoad 🤘🏻 i actually was at this very concert! Magic night seeing all of the big four 😍 Helloween ☆ Keeper of the seven keys 🎃
Sori needs the studio version of this song.
Congratulations on the baby🚼!!!
Opeth the baying of the hounds
this concert was aired live on swedish television I missed it though since I was in the audience =)
It does matter which side goes to which ear, because if you do it backwards your panning is backwards. Think of it like this, does it matter if you stand in front of or behind a radio?
Do Metallica Leper Messiah!
literally sounds identical to this song and 99% of all there songs. such a repetitive band
@@raineretsweiler7035 sure man, mama said and fight fire with fire are just identical songs and the memory remains it's like a sister song with leper messiah as you said ;)
@@claudiogonzalez1579 oits literally all open e string chugging with lars awful repetitive drum lines and kirks abuse of the wah pedal with his shitty penatonic solos that you non-musicians who have no clue claim are "full of feeling" this band sucks point blank compared to every other thrash band of there time. even anthrax shits on these bafoons from a technical stand point
@@raineretsweiler7035 ok so what, it's your opinion and that's fine, but if you are really honest you can't say that metallica is more repetitive than slayer in example.
@@raineretsweiler7035 Anda a cagar payaso jaja, lavate los oidos.
Miriam Faithful actually did the "Woahaoh" part in the original song, fun fact!
I guess thats from Ullevi july 3 2011 when ”the Big four” was sent live on national tv. 6 hours with metal
I remember when the music video came out for this...was crazy, but awesome. I'd keep MTV on all day just incase the video came on. (Yes MTV...the channel that used to play music)...
This song is incredible to experience live. When I saw Metallica in 2017, they played this song, and we all sang in unison for the longest time. It was the most incredible feeling.
Its more about the crowd than the band, check any concert in Argentina and you will be blown away. There's a great moment with Pearl Jam - Black on Argentina where the singer almost cries about it.
This music in S&M version is crazy
Started pretty late listening to Metallica and this (ReLoad) was their first record that I owned so I do not have that Old School Metallica bias.. so yeah I think this song is decent! I also liked Fixxxer, Devil's Dance, Prince Charming and Low Man's Lyric, Fuel too
I was there aswell and i stood in the front, even got some picks!
On the topic of great live performances, you guys should react to Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction (That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires, Argentina). An amazing crowd chanting the main riff of the song! I get goosebumps every time I watch that video.
I wish this would have been the studio version, but I understand why it was the live one. Because of the audience. But I think the person who sent it could have sent a better one. I’m sure they picked this one because they were there, but there are other shows where they performed this song and the crowd participation sounded much larger than this one. But I get it. I just wish it was the studio version just because it had a vibe that this song doesn’t quite re-capture in its live performance. With having the Marianne Faithfull vocals and all that
Sori didn’t like this? You were my favorite! Now I must choose Vin, you have broken my heart Sori! :)
The entire crowd part, is sung on the album by a singer named Marianne Faithfull. She has an incredibly unique voice, and if you listen to the album version, it’s a different song entirely with her vocals in it.
You were right on what it’s about. Essentially it’s about an artist whose 15 minutes of fame expired and she essentially goes insane from the fact that her fame is gone. Metallica has been my favorite band since I was 12, in 1985. I’ve stuck with them through the Load/Re-Load era and beyond. I’ve always felt a true fan would have to understand that bands evolve, they change, and you stick with them.
Load I thought was a decent album. Re-Load not so much but that’s because Re-Load is essentially all the music that didn’t make the cut for Load. Either way, The Memory Remains is probably one of the better songs on ReLoad, thanks for doing it.
As for a great Metallica song to do, I think you guys might like Sanitarium, off Master of Puppets.
Keep doing what you’re doing, I really have enjoyed the channel. I’d be on patreon if I could, because I’d like to support you guys, but we barely make it paycheck to paycheck, there’s virtually no money left over at the end of the month.
You see, the album version of this had Marianne Faithfull singing the nah nah part, and its eerily excellent.
that concerts so many years after load and re were released,so a lot ppl got over their disappointment, plus this isn't the USA, overseas concerts are really different ,,, this was a big 4 concert i believe...... Overseas crowds are so much better than us here in the USA, they pull out there cell phones less and actually get into the music.
That part the audience was singing is actually part of the song. It’s done by Marianne faithful
You know that the scores have been inflated when 7 is dealt to a song that you dislike.
Megadeth - When
Metallica - The outlaw thorn
Pedro Silva you know what would be the ultimate mash-up? The lyrics to “When” to the music of “Call of Ktulu”
@@OneTrueVikingbard well to be fair “Call of Ktulu” Dave wrote also lol
S&M version.
monicajean37 in which case, it only makes sense to mash those two songs together
First for another Metallica review! I always had mixed feelings about this song. It's a far cry from their earlier albums, but it has some decent parts to it.
Leah of the Village Nothing about Metallica is decent. They’re overrated as fuck. Pure shit.
@@LegendMathai
>Says they're overrated
>Doesn't explain why
Hahaha
@@LegendMathai Classic Metallica hater.
@@LegendMathai You mean like Pokemon?
This was my first Metallica song. I was like 5 and absolutely loved this song.
One of the greatest crowd moments I've seen is from the song "One Last Goodbye" by Anathema. The crowd is MUCH smaller than the Metallica and Iron Maiden crowds but I feel that makes it a bit more powerful. The exact video I'm talking about is called "(One Last Goodbye) Anathema @ Incrível Almadense PT - 09". PLEASE check it out.
must to say, that this concert is in place, theater, acient one, where acoustic is, from feild, where fans stand even biger than metallica stage are, so that's why you can hear like this, listen couple of maiden couple of metallica and you guys will see that no one has a fans like maiden, sorry for my ENG
Man!, they should have reacted this same song in the concert ''Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria'' in 2009 in Mexico City, it was epic man
I was at that show. Big 4. Great moment!
From this album, Devils Dance, Low Man's Lyric
From Load, Wasting My Hate, Thorn Within.... but those are underrated songs, so not sure if you guys will do it, since most of the stuff is the most famous pop hits lol
Ha! As I said, I agree with Sori regarding the song! But wow what an experience it was!
Now, do you need a link to a Judas Priest clip where Halford doesn’t need to sing at all, let me know! :)
This song is about Axel when he fill for James and go of stage in middle of concert
Arch Enemy - We Will Rise + Fields of Desolation (LIVE Tyrants of the Rising Sun)
Symphony of destruction live in argentina
Of all the lives song you did the memory remains? You gotta do Battery Seattle 89’
Now you need to hear the album version where the live version's crowd sang parts were originaly sung by Marianne Faithfull, who has some personal experience with the subject matter of the song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne_Faithfull
I’ve been there 14 times front row. It’s life changing.
You should do Metallica -The Thing That Should Not Be(live seattle, 89) next!
Or My Friend of Misery (live Melbourne, 2013) for some great interaction between Hetfield and the crowd. He gets them to sing harmonies :)
And Metallica definitely draws this amount of people to their concerts by themselves. They had to turn up the PA during MoP so you could hear the band during this show!
i have watch like 20 memory and this is prob the best there is with the fans, i was there so i am a little bit bias but we sang like crazy and they knew it when they put the other consert on ullevi and we sang again like crazy!!!
