    Sucks that the FS Model 7 at the fire station near my house doesn't work anymore, would love to hear a fire siren once again!

      Yeah, three stations all three have the same I believe. Don’t use it overnight, just during daylight hours.

    I thought that it was interesting that whoever activated the siren didn't put the siren in 'Attack' (wavering mode). Maybe they pushed the 'alert' button, waited for a few seconds and then pressed the cancel button.

      Or it could be specific to that station, since Grafton has 3 stations within the town limits.

    imo I think the siren either had its agastat timing deliberately lowered or the station just wired it so that the blower and rotator would immediately stop upon the chopper being unpowered. Likely to make the sound distinct. I could be wrong though...

    That's gotta be the oddest attack signal sequence I've ever heard.
    Was there something wrong with the control box? Because I'm pretty sure that the blower and rotator aren't supposed to cut out like that.

      It's the agastat timing. The delay simply needs to be turned up.

    Not to be a karen but How are these firefighters not getting hearing loss? The rating on this thunderbolt is 126 dB at 100 Feet!

      It seems like the blower cuts out just a second after the siren winds down, so they won't be subjected to the sound for very long.

      It’s a Thunderbolt 1000 which is actually 128dB at 100 feet with a 4M blower. The 126dB rating was with a 1000T

      @@trainscsxq116 and there is no thunderbolt sirens in WV iirc. There might be some that are used as fire sirens but idk. Most of their fire sirens are Federal Signal Model 5s and 7s, STH-10s and STL-10s

      Jammed solenoid or the old chopper motor died and they only had a single tone one on hand

      What? That does not sound like an STH-10. Believe me, I live a few blocks away from one. STH-10s are high pitched and Thunderbolts are low pitched.

      @@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Wrong, the relay and solenoids are stuck, so the blower and rotator shut off along with the chopper and the low solenoid is stuck, thus the attack-esqe signal even though it is supposed to do undulating Hi-Lo. Either that or it's a single tone 1003.

      Not bizarre. Many towns use their sirens as a source for fire calls.

      If you think about it. Not only does it alert the firefighters. It also alerts the public to be vigilant in the area of the house. For their impending response

    The fact that this department is still using such an antiquated form of notification in 2022 is ridiculous. Add to this the number of revolutions and it’s shameful in my opinion.

      @@allen480 That's the point guy. Pagers replace the siren so why still have & activate it for every call ?!?! Keep it as a backup in case the paging system fails so it can be activated locally at the station, maybe. But only as a last resort.

      Sirens are still very useful in 2023 especially for volunteers like myself, there have been several times that I didn’t have my phone (for I’m responding) or my pager and heard the siren. Just imagine your having an emergency and you hear the siren at least you know help is coming

      Technically it is on the inside. The original 1003's 5/6 chopper must of been cooked so they swapped it with a spare 1000 chopper.

    Wait..........A single tone 1003? Why would they convert a siren capable of high low into a single tone siren?? Now they can't use the solenoids. Seems like a stupid choice because the whole point of a 1003 is to use it as a fire siren because it can do coded signals like High Low
