This Dodge Power Wagon rolls under its own power for the first time in 30 years!! This truck has been under frame off restoration for 16 months. With the engine installed and new tires on, today was the day to put this restored frame to work. Despite less than ideal results, it was exciting to get this girl rolling for the first time!!

My new all time favorite video on you tube. The result of hard work without formal training and obviously unending determination. Well done.
Thank you Paul! This has been a hell of a journey!
@@partsandresto 6:58 How a messed up my lower lumbar and caused shooting pains in my hip and testicles.
Be careful , get help or use a come-along. The pain is so not worth it.
Thanks for showing the push back in. Too many CZcamsrs don’t show the real struggles and make it seem like everything always goes according to plan in an effort to make themselves look better. Great build
Marv, you are right 100%!! I make sure in my videos (well the few I have up) I show the struggles too because no matter how good you are you are going to run into problems. And you may run into the same problem I did so I want to see how you fixed it lol.
Thats why I put my mess ups or struggles on my videos because I think it may help someone someday
First start and first drive is always the most exciting!
Exciting indeed. Especially when you mash the brake and nothing happens with a wall 10
Feet away hahaha
Very nice! Congratulations! It's always nice to see a non-working mechanical system become a working one, and you've done a beautiful job.
If anybody had any doubts about your determination and perseverance, Dave, that last couple of minutes should change their mind! Now, where's that winch? ;-)
Thanks Tony! It’s on there, it just needs a cable now, or a “wire rope” as the men of that time supposedly called them
Love the maximum effort for a small wash-down! Evidence of the eventual outcome of this project. Keep up the good work and the entertaining videos!
Instructor: give a little gas and release the clutch slowly....
He : 5:15 😂😂😂
No seriously, good job my friend!
Haha! Thanks man!
Great job don't get discouraged it drives it just needs a few minor bugs worked out and it's good to go and your great at working them out you'll get it in no time great job!!!!
Thanks Em!
That sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL! What a glorious machine!
What an awesome sounding motor! You're doing great! Keep it up, we really enjoy watching your progress!
Thanks Mark!
Got to love the new camera YAY!
Cell phone turned sideways. Like I said, the Vlog videos are just stolen Instagram stories. Sorry the vids suck.
How incredible is that!! Great job 👍👍 looks amazing!!! You seem to be a one man show; and, what you have done, in a relatively short period of time, is mind-blowing!! Love it!!!
One man show indeed sir. Thank you! I’ve been hustling pretty hard for the last 15 months
If I could make a suggestion from pushing my Power Wagon around the shop, it gives you 2x leverage if you push by the thread on the top of one of the tires. Makes it much easier.
Tyres have thread??
@@De19thKingJulion :) Typo - tread
And I thought it sucked when I first test drove my 1980 Yamaha Rd 400 and ran out of gas and had to push it 200 feet and Here then there's you. Ahahaha awesome work man
😄 I was yelling to myself, just push the wheel!
10/10. Good trick. Glad I know it now
Love what you're doing!!!
Thanks Jason!
God I love the train wreck that is Parts and Restoration. 👊
The most body positive “how to” channel on the dark web
@@partsandresto yeah but my homeboy putting down some power moving that elephant back in the garage! What were the sparks from?
I think it was from the coil resistor. Couldn’t get it to restart after that or even click like power was moving through. Not sure the reason.
I got a hernia watching you push that beast back in garage
Hahaha.
Automotive slapstick at its finest.
Yesssss! Glad you liked it!
This is great buddy 👍
Thanks Hubie!
Oh that's so awesome, I can't wait til I can drive my truck out of where it's been parked for the past 20 years
Hell yeah dude. Keep after it!
@@partsandresto This vid is definitely an inspiration to keep working on my pride and joy
😂😂😂 the steering wheel! Nice work buddy! Love the content here. :)
wow lookin good 50%done
I’ll be dropping a new video in a couple days, lots of work!
Awesome, can’t wait to see it
Bravo, my friend! Great job! I admire your hard work!
That steering wheel coming off just makes the whole video. Lol
It was a pretty hilarious moment. Not gonna lie
The number of times you almost injured yourself was impressive!
Welcome to parts and restoration. “Shake hands with danger”
Reminds me of how i had to once take my car down the highway sitting on a tool box because i had all the seats out.
( Yes i was stupid )
Been there. Gotta accomplish the mission, any means necessary
Beatiful, can't wait to see it finish
Soon enough good sir. Soon enough
I love his skills and work but i love his patience more i would havr light up thr build when steering fell off
Haha, thanks brother, it was kinda funny. Life is short, gotta laugh at the small stuff
This is absolutely hilarious I just did the exact same thing! Two days ago I pushed my chassis into the garage up a slight slope by myself just like this!
Attaboy Tate. Funny timing
@@partsandresto Question for you; My running board supports are rusted through and might be shot. Did you just cut yours off at the rivets and are you planning to rivet them back on or just bolts?
Rock n roll #Tremendous
Won’t be long till I come visit for that bread!
Lol just like me trying to push my behemoth back into the garage. Cheers fellow fat guys!
Great boy !!! Is fantastic, is live !!!!
Thanks friend!!
You the man, Dave!
Thanks Dan! Just getting lucky and having a ball!
get a winch, even if it is weak, for the times you have to "pull" your truck back in. Harbor Freight winches work just fine. I've got one and it does the trick perfectly. GOOD PROGRESS otherwise.
Thanks Curtis!
The pushing part would've been easy with the "proper" footwear you know :D
You've earned your cold ones my man!
Flip flops coefficient of friction is like 4
If I lived near you, I'd pay you just to help work on that truck. Been following along doing my dakota resto and my frame came out just as Purdy. Axles and suspension going in this weekend so it rolls. All by myself too. So much work but payoff is great.
Congrats Tom, I’m glad you’re having success sir!
ALL RIGHT....moving under its own power. A lot of tuning, pruning and refinement to go. But good for you. Damn glad you didn't actually take it out on the street. The Philadelphia P.D. would have been on you like a chicken on a June bug. The ticket would have been as long as your left arm.
Don't ask me how I know this.
Hahaha! I am very tempted to go
Beverly hill billies style with this gal once the radiator is installed!!
@@partsandresto Easy turbo...I know its tempting. Just be oh so careful.
Exciting? Ummmm….. terrifying! 😂
Hahaha!! Yeah pretty scary, not gonna lie!
Dave, I have to say I'm loving the work you're putting into this truck and look forward to the finished product. I have to ask, how did you find the trucks? As I wish to do the same thing as a retirement project for myself. But I'm having a hard time finding these trucks in the Midwest.
Hey fella! Facebook marketplace is an excellent resource to find these trucks. They can be hard to find but they are out there. I looked every day for a year before I found the ones formme
Did somebody skip "leg" day? Just kidding.. Friggin' thing is heavy and we know it. Rolled out nice though.
Haha. Just like a drag racer, sometimes there’s more power than traction
What are you doing running the engine you worked so hard to rebuild with out coolant?!
There’s coolant in there
He probably plugged of the bottom and and filled it, for a short drive it's good enough, hit and miss engines do basically the same thing.
EOZ knows what’s up. My man
@@partsandresto I have watched your entire build. I restored a 65 Corvair Convertible to original so I know your pain. You are doing a great job. I am glad you had coolant in there and I should have realized you were smarter than that. I apologize.
@@jeffkiefer5182 I mean, I can see why, with your Corvair things like coolant aren't something that you'd have to be worried about.
So at what point did you start thinking " who can I call to help push". So any idea of what went fizzle flash bang. Anyway young man I hope you're back is okay and I promise that I wouldn't have laughed if you had ended up on you're bum 🤣. Keep up the brilliant work looking for to the next episode. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hey Gary! If you’ve seen the video of bringing these trucks home, I have some friends on my block who helped me Push this girl in once before. As for the fizzle, I suspect the coil resistor grounded out to the frame and something may have fried in my circuit because now I have a no-start condition where I’m not getting any power to the starter upon turning the key. We’ll see what happens! The next Vlog will have it cleared up I hope!
That’s awesome !,what size tires? and I’m sure you got flaps and tubes in them ol’widow maker rims:)
David, these are 9.00 R16 tube tires with polish tubes (can’t remember the brand) and Firestone flaps. The tires are power king super traction II’s
@@partsandresto look like they’ll get you pleanty of traction.last summer I had my front passenger tire blow up just by shutting the door.it was real hot day and my inner side of split rim wheel had rusty sharp edge that wore thru my flap then the tube punctured from heat expansion and movement of the door closing made it blow sidewall out of new tire.they don’t call them widowmakers rims for nothing lol
Can’t wait to see your cab on frame, keep videos rolling!
Next video will be cab surgery. Merging two shitty cabs to make one solid cab
@@partsandresto I’m sure it will turn out nice ! Keep up good work on that ol’flat fender civilian PW,those trucks are dinosaurs!
What is that pink thing laying on the street? I have a 46 and would not try to push it for love not money lol that thing is heavy.
That would be me. Yeah she’s purdyhefty. The turn the tire by hand method worked best
Sweet!!
Yazzzzz
6:16 from here on you should speed up the video by 3 times and put some ragtime piano music behind it.
do you know when in the vid, peeps press the like button? for me it was when the steering wheel fell off..
Hahaha. That was a funny moment
Where did you get those tires
Online - power king
Double hernia will put the project on the back burner buddy. Be careful. I totally understand though.
Thanks Charles. You’re absolutely correct
A pry bar on the tire tread on the ground will move your truck...
Thanks bud, that’s was the next move
@@partsandresto I've done rigging using this technique, for whatever it's worth.
that looked like it hurt
Nah, strong back on this guy
5:53 Humm...
Yo bro make sure you say you got that hernia at work......lol
Dat thumbnail...
Haha. Thanks dude. Lucky shot!!
