- I went to Micromobility Europe 2024 in Amsterdam to check out the latest in electric bikes, e-scooters, and other micromobility areas. Here are some of the most interesting things I saw at the show!

11/10 for looks on the Voltaire. That's a pretty bike.
Two comments. In what way Flit is better than Brompton? I don't see fenders or rack on it and one has to carry the entire bike weight including battery in hand, unlike on Brompton.
Hydrogen vehicles do have small batteries as hydrogen cells can't adjust power output easily.
I want to see more of that hydrogen powered bike. What kind of range does a bike like that have?

i see them piled up in containers and in china landfills and wonder why they aren't sold or used somehow 💚
Micah can you review the EKX-X21 and the ekx-X21 pro max. On paper looks like one of the best bang for buck moped ebikes... would love to hear your take on it

I don’t think so. From what I can tell, they are trying to get sharing companies on board.
You might, they seem to be a rebrand/partnership of the Chinese company Youon, they do have links on their Chinese website to JD.
If you look carefully at 7:21: you see that Hydroride Europe literally just put Hydroride Europe stickers over the Youon logo..., it's a Youon Y800 bike!
The claim on the Hydroride Europe website that their bottles (390ml) hold 20 grams of hydrogen at approx. 1 MPa doesn't seem possible, pressure needed would probably be a 100 times higher, which would also make their home generator quite an interesting product.
Innovative product nonetheless.
edit: saw a german website that sells (or claims to) the Y800 + home hydrogen generator for € 4.758,81.
At Youon’s website they say working pressure is 20-30 MPa

I assume those hydrogen bikes would be lighter than a traditional electric bike? Having no battery
The small tank is surprisingly dense when full of hydrogen and with the weight of the fuel cell I think they might weigh more than a similar sized battery ebike.
Hydrogen fuel cells are anything but light. It's is a dead end technology for anything but very large vehicles with dedicated routes. And even then it's problematic.
Put your helmet on because there's going to be some incoming on the way...

Going nowhere... Backtracking... Hopelessly afflicted with expensive materials and electronics... Slower than molasses... New regulations to make them even slower... The little spurt of Surron style ebikes that could actually keep up with surface street traffic has been successfully quashed. You just have to build one yourself that can go a normal speed.
