    Nice video. I plan on building my own table. I've been overwhelmed and intimidated by how many options there are for accessories, nice to see some in action. I'll get these for sure. Thanks.

      Awesome, thanks for watching! There are a lot of options and while I really did like my UJK setup with the clips on dogs, this Benchdogs setup is unbelievably good and I’m very happy with the change.

    Got my Benchdogs hinge today and mounted it to the new Metabo MWB 100.
    Great combination!

    The hinge system is spot on, and it, along with their fence system, you can't go wrong. Working in a shared garage with the car, I often break down my workspace. I recommend getting the systainers for the hinge and fence for the times you need to pack up your kits. I also enjoy their MFT plugs for my bench. They produce premium products, and you can't go wrong with them if you are on the fence

      The hinge is absolutely amazing! I continue to be so happy with the hinge and fence setup and it’s been permanently on my bench for the past couple of months.

    Welcome to the club. The parallel guide and rail square parallel guides are very useful in getting accurate cuts straight from the sheet. I am redoing my sheet cutting table to allow for the hinge system, fence, and to do rip cuts with the parallel guide. This way I cut once on the sheet goods and I know things are accurate. Lumber will also get cut on the table. Thanks to these items, I can move away from the mft table idea. I don’t need mft things as most of my cuts are using the hinge, track saw and the fence.
    The biggest advantage for the system. If someone like me who has zero experience can cut square cuts, anyone can.

      Thanks! I have the TSO Parallel Guides but haven’t found myself reaching them on smaller projects for some reason as I can never remember if they’re currently calibrated. 🤦‍♂️

      @@MasonWoodshop I use the parallel guides to get the first few cuts done accurately until the sheet is a manageable size and I can use the fence, hinge and track saw. I prefer keeping my 8’x4’ sheet as is during transportation. I usually end up with less waste. If I precut them in 1/2, I found I had more scraps.

    Congrats on the hinge from bench dogs. I have zero doubt you will love the hinge system. You pointed out an obvious thing about the Festool track square, in which I didn't know. I love TSO products but I never put 2 and 2 together to see that TSO track squares are indeed Festool rebranding the TSO product. With that Jason at bourbon moth let slip that Isotunes makes the Festool ear protection .
    I also would like to say the sky is the limit for you my friend your skills at presenting and your presentation are fun to watch. I like that you left the missed shot of your demonstrating the square of the cut, and you left it in the final edit. As a photography enthusiast, editing is where it can really become labor intensive.
    Oh yeah what the heck with the Canadian pricing holy cow you make me feel ok about the cost of things here in the USA. LOL

      Thanks for watching and leaving such a kind comment! Thats interesting about the Festool ear protection as I was wondering who they had make them - Isotunes makes sense.

    Have had my benchdogs hinge for over a year and love it. I liked the fact that it didn’t rely on any t track to mount.
    I will say the one issue I have with my mft/hinge system is how wide the table is. It’s hard to flip the rail up so that it stays up on its own. I need to figure out a counter weight solution.

    • @MasonWoodshop
      @MasonWoodshop  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Happy to hear you have such a positive experience as well! My MFT is 960mm deep and I find that’s about the max I could have and still use the hinge effectively without walking around. If it was a bit wider or I was a bit shorter it would be a bit annoying to walk around the table each time.

      Great to hear you love the hinge. A bit of advice is you can tighten the hinge screws to make it tighter this will allow it to be stiffer to take the weight of your track.

    Thanks for the overview and demo.
    I'm not a huge fan of the benchdog hinge because it sits above the bench. The dashboard looks great, but $$$.
    The newer benchdogs rail square looks nice, I had the same festool/tso square and sold it after not wanting to deal with it tipping or printing a solution. That said, I haven't felt like I needed a rail square since I got my woodpeckers 1281 (aluminum version); it's a bit quicker and easier for me to just line the track up with my mark, square it up with the 1281, and make my cuts. That's mostly just for breaking down b igger panels though.
    For most cuts my preferred method is just the track with stanton dog locks. I printed my own after purchasing Dave's files and they came out great. I didn't like the ujk clips at all.
    Thanks for the video!

      @MasonWoodshop  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching. I also found myself using my 1281 instead of using the rail square half the time as I never felt I was getting perfectly square cuts with the TSO/Festool - I'm sure it is legitimately square, but the human error of holding it in place resulted in less than square cuts. So far, the Benchdogs has solved this for me as I don't need to focus much on the square.

    It is good that the bench dogs rail square and hinge can be used with many different manufactures saws, you are not tied to one.

    Blue loctite on the square locating pins should keep them in place.

    Another great video! Although I am considering upgrading to the Festool track saw, I currently have the Kreg. You mention that Ultra Rail Square will work on the Kreg system which is fantastic, but do you know if the hinge system will also? It does not appear to be specifically called out in their labels so if anyone knows for sure can they please comment. Thank you! EDIT: I just saw that Kreg is listed on their website as being supported with the hinge system.

      @@rdl737 Incra Track System. Then I ordered their flip stop and put the flip part on the standard stop. Its a too tall but as long as the material is wider than 1 inch or so it works. More specific when the flip stop flips down its not perpendicular to the table but sits at 45 or so degrees.
