- Folders & Lockback knife Mechanisms have been around for a long time. Your EDC (every day carry) used to be called a pocket knife, pen knife, jack knife, or utility blade. Now we have a wide variety of locking styles, carrying systems, deploying methods, and shapes. With each style comes a unique set of methods to open and close the blade. I started with these two styles to show the origins of the pocket knife. I will be continuing the series with liner locks, clasp locks, friction locks, frame locks, axis locks, button locks, lever locks and a whole lot more.
I don't think I've ever seen a double lock-back knife. Cool.
I carried a Gerber just like that for years. One of my favorite knives.
Maybe it is yours, I don't know where I got it from. LOL
