  • In this video I tell the story of a set of Progressive Suspension front fork springs for my KLR650. As with many things in Panama, mailing a simple package turned into a major headache. Things that were lost were found, and in the end it was all for naught.
    The guys over at www.progressive... are friends of the show. They make an excellent product. If you are feeling like it's time to upgrade your suspension they should be the first place you look.

    i got Progressive Suspension front fork springs on my 2011 KLR 650. the company is awesome! the customer service is great. since they do not sell to the general public..you have to get it from one of the retailers. regardless...their product is awesome. I ride mostly dirt..and im a big guy. no more brake dive. the bike tracks a lot better compared to the stockers. one of the best upgrades along with the rear top gun 8.0kg spring.

    @cynik45ACP It was a little spring that controls the shifting mechanism. It wasn't the Doohickey. Just took a long time to get the parts to do the job.

    Oh, and they don't make anything for my bike (KLX250sf 2009). Ah well. I have to replace my leaky fork seals, so I thought maybe that would be a cool upgrade to do at the same time. NT8 also mentioned it. He has them on his KLR.

  • @halfthrottle
    @halfthrottle  Před 12 lety

    @hondascoot No I just left the old ones in there. They are the same thing so I didn't see a need to use another set on this old bike.

    I always look forward to seeing new stuff from you! Your excursions to obscure and out of the way places are great! Have you ever discovered any ancient trade routes and have you ever run in to a Panama historian?

    @1jbunceiii Yeah I know about slacking. I still have a Drift camera I need to review. So much technical stuff to go over I don't want to miss anything, but don't want to ramble on to long as well.

    Long shot here but ill still ask... did you send them all back? you kept them? can you (if still on you) send one set to maracaibo?

  • @dbest1aVlogs
    @dbest1aVlogs Před 11 lety

    You can easily change your fork oil, as you see yours is dirty, just get a siphon used for water or whatever with the small hand pump on it , suck out the old n refill in the new and your suspension will be even smoother.

  • @84greenbear
    @84greenbear Před 12 lety

    @halfthrottle How cool would that be!? Just be careful of bandito's hahaha! With what you may find you may have to double the suspension on your KLR, or get a trailer! Hmmm, trailer for a KLR? Think I'll have to do some checking on that! LOL, take care and may you and your family have a great holiday season!

  • @halfthrottle

    @cashstore1 One set in the bike. One set in Utah that I meant to send back, but never got around to. One set that was lost then found. One set that Airbox express bought and gave to me. I'm talking to Progressive to see what they want me to do with them.

    @mysticalsoulqc My own TV show would be cool. If you plug your computer into your plasma screen at home you can make it happen right now! Most of my uploads are in 1080p. They'll look good up there.

    @Erik22552 I've always wanted to take a metal detector out and try to walk some old Spanish trade routes. I heard they just found Capt. Morgans sunken ships near Portorellos.

  • @halfthrottle
    @halfthrottle  Před 12 lety

    @sgtmarkins Shipping them from Panama would cost to much. I sent a 8"x11" envelope a while ago and it cost me $30. I can't imagine what the springs would cost. I'll try to work something out, maybe have a video competition give a way.

  • @lauriejennifer
    @lauriejennifer Před 12 lety

    I actually need softer suspension for my bike. I have the opposite problem of "putting my fat ass on the seat." LOL Even at the softest settings, the bike barely compresses when I take to the saddle. The bonus to that is that curbs, stairs, and drops are easier to take. Heh. *shiftyeyes*
    Great video as usual. I should ride down to Panama for a meetup. :)

    @svengalie I would rather have the Triumph Tiger XC. It cost twice as much and is about 50 pounds heavier, but a much better bike. I do like my KLR, but a triple is much smoother and twice as powerful. I always preferred the English bikes

    To utilize the extra springs, i suggest mounting them on the corners of a 2'x2' piece of plywood. You then place this device in the back yard and compress the board down as low as it goes. Rig a string released trigger and place a hamburger on the top of the board. Sit on a chair with the string at the ready. Soon that yappy ass dog from next door will come over to investigate the burger. Once he's in position...Sproing! Bye Bye. Please film for our pleasure.
