- In Glowstick Entertainment's 'Dark Deception' you must face your fears and find redemption through a series of terrible nightmares. Gathering the mysterious 'ring pieces' for the equally mysterious Bierce, her ballroom will send you into the depths of terror to face demonic schoolgirls, flesh hungry ducks and a hotel staffed by murder monkeys...
FINALLY.
This song has been sitting completed on my hard drive since mid 2019. Life happened, projects kept coming up and the opportunity to make the video for this one just kept getting pushed back. I am SO glad to finally have this video finished and to be able to share this song with you! (Also that the costume still fitted after sitting in a box unused for over 2 years)
When I wrote this there were only a couple of chapters of the game available and a lot less of the lore and story had been revealed so I chose to focus on the world of the first nightmare 'Monkey Business'. If you'd like to see me explore some of the other nightmares from the game let me know!

I love how the part “room service will cost you an arm and a leg, and a torso, a stomach, a neck, and a head” basically means the room service costs everything BUT an arm and a leg

Does that mean that in theory if you order the room service to bring food, you are still able to "Consume the food"? I don't say "Eat" because your head is gone. but every thing else after the stomach are still there, without the torso around that Organs. remember, that is just a theory. in practice that doesn't work, i know🤣

“fish the mint from the blood, pooling in the pillows” creates such a raw and striking image in your head, gives off the same energy as “ashes to ashes nine to five, the light in the tunnel has been privatised”, like these are so creative

Every time Stups releases a new song I get excited the most for the chorus because without fail everytime he makes the most catchy chorus. and this time....is no exception! Beautiful wordplay and lyrics, haunting melody and overall much like most stupendium songs, it makes me want to play the game it's based off of.

I looked up the lore of the game based on that line and wow, Stupes wasn’t kidding. It’s really nice to see a game set in hell where the protagonist deserves to be there.
Yeah- wonder where the end comes. Like we’re getting somewhere with all the story and backstory.

1. Cheating on his wife
2. Being a negligent parent
3. Murdering his wife and accidentally getting his daughter killed in the process
4. Sexually abused some women
Also, many of the monsters in this game are manifestations of people either Doug or Bierce have wronged in their life.

I always loves how he made what is basically the most insignificant chapter that's forgotten basically the moment it's over.
Suddenly feel like the magnum opus of the game. He gives so much personality to this murderous staff. As a long time fan of Dark Deception I love this.

The thing I find most interesting about this is that Agatha CANNOT see into one of the secret rooms - the contents appear to be legitimately hidden from her awareness.

The amount of little details in these videos is absolutely stellar!
Another little detail is before they all focus on the viewer they don't move as much as if they all just noticed you right there.

But that will not stop me enjoying all the songs you've done and no doubt will continue to do, that are based on them.

Though the bellhop was rather bitey and murderous, the complimentary breakfast was delicious and the pool wasn't crowded and proved delightful entertainment once we got past the smell of the rotting lifeguard. However, with the murder of my friend I checked in with I had to deduct points from my final score as he was my ride and that put a damper on the rest of my trip through hell. Three out of five stars
Even when the staffs eyes glowed red, i felt great even when i saw someone try to order room service and some demonic monkey ran up to him, cut him to pieces, and ate him on the spot.
4/5 stars. Very thematic, but for demonic adventures, i prefer Hotel Helltaker.
I also enjoyed my stay quite a lot, the staff chased me to my room and stood outside my door the entire night so I wouldn’t get lonely. Was kind of annoying that they were also clawing out the door and screaming like banshees. Breakfast was amazing, all I could eat because I was apparently the only one there. However, on my way out, one of the bellhops ran up to me, cut off my hands and ate them. Bit of a damper on my review, 4/5 stars
A very nice stay, I wasn't botherered as much by the staff as they where busy chasing other guests, and i didn't need my right eye anyways. the only problem was the human finger in my banana split was raw. 4/5 stars.
checked in with my friend doomslayer. the food was great, although dinner still had a few bones in it. the pool was fun, especially with the cute fish monster to keep us company. the beds were as comfortable as a coffin, and room service was great. the only problem is that the staff seemed to be trying to avoid us at all costs, most especially me for some reason, but otherwise an excellent day. 420/69 stars, feels just like home.
The staff that could speak were very kind yet blunt and the bar of killed guests (and a handsome man wearing red and sunglasses looking for a harem of demon girls) were very helpful in tips for surviving. The breakfast was a bit too sour but it’s hell so I’m fine with it and The paintings in the hallways where either abstract or just blurred due to running.
4/5 stars, the company was great but I really would have loved to take the time to look at the decor

Ok the rooms were very clean,but I did find some loose pieces of paper on the walls and banana peels everywhere,and the bellhops were mean and won’t be getting a tip,but the guy at the front desk and bar were nice,so 4/5 stars!

The beds are pretty comfortable, the gymnasium is great for working out, and the food was great! Only thing is they need to get a new lifeguard that hasn't been trashed. I also think the way the bellhops kill people is a bit incompetent. But over, this hotel is to die for! Literally! 5/5
I got stabbed, I’m currently hiding in a room, bleeding to death. It’s slow and painful and I can hear them getting closer, angrier than ever since I escaped them, the sweet release of death won’t greet me without having to go trough unimaginable torture first.
The food was good, and the beds are comfy. 4,5/5

the tourist on the review located at 2:40 is dressed the same as the corspe in 0:52 which should be a testiment of the gold standard of not only the stupendium songs of which are all bangers but the video's detail making it mandatory actually pay attention to fully enjoy it
also, his review is "five stars! never a survivor!", which could mean that either no one survives, or he specifically always dies on his visits, which would make sense given that the first time we see him is a pile of guts and bonee
The monkey chase at 2:00 feels like the layout of Bendy and the Ink Machine chapter 1 and it’s incredibly nostalgic
I just absolutely LOVE every part of stupendium's compositions, how his voice sets the tone to each and every character, the way he IS in character on outside-song quotes like the start and end of them, it has brought me such joy to watch his videos because of those little details that always skyrocket the quality.
I absolutely loved the chef's verse and just how wonderfully catchy "Our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite" is, such a delightful line, really sums up the song beautifully
I've been debating whether or not I should play dark deception, and this song may have just convinced me. I adore the vibe of this song and instantly became of my favourites! I'll be listening to this one over and over for a while, and watching! the visuals are on point as always! The animation is gorgeous and its always fun to see all the wacky costumes the Stupendium wears.

maby it can be called "the golden statues weep" since the gold watchers are effectivly golden statues with a bit in coming with weeping angels
To me, there are 3 elements that make a good Stupendium video; music, animation, and live-action. Most of his songs achieve high ranks in each of these, but this is one of those special songs that somehow perfects all 3, The song itself is catchy as hell and amazing, the animated scenes, as well as the monkies in general, look friking incredible, and Stupes pulling off the role as a demonic, yet polite bellhop, along with the miscellaneous hotel staff, are terrific. This song has instantly risen up as one of my favorites, and given I know diddly squat about the game it's based on, just goes to show how phenomenal this one is 😁
Also, love the Random Encounters & Insane Ian cameos, not only were they cute li'l easter eggs, but they give a sort of "Shining" vibe & it's oddly fitting

Just discovered Dark Deception, can't believe I skipped this song the whole time it was out because i didn't know the game, this is amazing
I think this is my favourite song ever I just love the part when they go “it’s just monkey business” idk why but the way you sang that is amazing
I must say it. That maze running segment during the chorus is amazingly well done. Especially the camera motions and the way the bellhops run around while the player flees. It's utterly genius. Not to mention the regular stupendium brilliance of fantastic costumes and utterly unbeatable wordplay. You keep outdoing yourself. I'm perpetually amazed.
The flow and style of this is very reminiscent of the theory that the ten levels are a mix of Dante’s Inferno plus some extra sins and how the Monkeys represent violence because, according to the lore, they are the souls of killers who left behind their humanity to become violent murderers. I hope more things like that appear any other Dark Deception songs! (Also a bit of a tip for if you do a song based on the second level: Agatha and her level is most likely based on Anger/Wrath)

"Whilst on your way to retribution, we hope that you enjoy your stay of execution" is a genius line, and the chorus is an especially well made chorus, and the visuals are stunning
As soon as the piano hit, I was already enamored, the flow of the voice introduced in the first verse transcended the already amazing song, and the chorus sent this song to a level of heaven alien to the hellish hotel shown here. You outdo yourself every time!
I watched it a dozen times and just now realized:"but the baggage that's emotional / well that can stay with you" - emotional baggage - all the regret and pain that brought Doug here.

Dont know the game, dont know what's going on, I'm probably missing a lot of references, but holy smokes! This is such a bop, the atmosphere is top notch,bthe writing is clever and it's very easy to tell that you worked your heart out (probably literally seeing all the biting bellhops). Though then again, what else did I expect from one of, if not the best musician on the platform? Keep rocking on Stupes! You're doing an amazing job as always and keep it up!
just so you know the song is based off of the action, horror game known has dark deception with the song taking place in the very first level of the game where you are chased by killer... well monkey bellhops

@@Mr_Just_JoJo it’s a pacman type mazerunner. With very Arcady mechanics that actually make it less horror and more action as you progress through the game unlocking various tools and power ups.
It’s fun but a recent update left certain levels virtually unplayable for the time being due to bugs so if you do pick it up keep that in mind.

Disappointed it wasn't about the entire game and just 1 chapter, but this was written 2 years ago, and the game isn't even fully completed now, so I guess it's not exactly fair to complain about this, haha.
I also might be a bit biased because of it, but I also like it because this whole song reminds me of the Fine Print, with the whole "Welcoming our guests" part, the general vibe and etc.

After all this time listening to this song i just find out the part that says “a little reminder you’ve a riddle to find or it’s frivolous fighting your doom”is pointing out the riddle of heaven that doug has to find or he cannot save himself or his family.
I love the part where in the pool they warn you about loosing your toes, brought back that old fear of a shark in the pool waiting to eat me, lol.
