Thanks for the reaction, Dave! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Always interesting to hear your read on things!
I loved your video, watched it more times than I can count.
I'd love a song for each monster in Dark Deception, the joy joy gang's the best!
Not demanding, just suggesting....
Keep up the good work!

I still can't believe your range man! It's insane, you can do such diverse and fun voices!
Since you're focused more on a _symbolic_ reading than a literal, _game-focused_ one, here's something to chew on: In Hell, as depicted in Dante's _Inferno,_ the Third Circle is guarded by Cerberus and filled with gluttons wallowing blind in an eternal storm of filthy slush, and the Fourth contains both misers _and_ spendthrifts trying to force their way past each other with heavy weights.
I have no choice but to focus on the symbolic reading, as I haven’t played the game haha. Also, Dante’s inferno is one hell of a read.
Asking bout older things, Dan bull and stupendium just happened to lease the same beat track for a song. Dan made one for super Mario Odyssey, while stupendium made one for satisfactory.
The cameo was of Insane Ian (top left) and the members of Random Encounters (the other 3 people) and they all have rather good voices. Ian has been doing a series called A comedy musician reacts. As for RE they do comedy songs focused around games similar to Stupendium but often with more leanings toward singing rather than rap, rhyme like Stupes does.
Actually now that you mention it, your reading of the song is very much up the alley of what Stupendium tends to give off in a lot of his game dystopia songs. That sense of people being used, is very much in line with Fine Print and Data Stream. He's also done a few Animal Crossing and Fallout songs that have that vibe as well, though very different tune sets. Stupes has mentioned in the ending credits of Fiend Like Me, that he enjoys playing the villain in his songs.
Also, I agree with Mike down below, if you got warm fuzzies from Shine Through, then Lights on a Truck would be a lovely Christmas song to react to.
Definitely seconding Lights on a Truck. Such an upbeat and happy Christmas song! (Do watch the remaster that fixed some odd lines in the original)
Edit: Just seen that the reaction came out a day ago. Oops. :)
This song is such a damn BOP! and...oh hey, one of those "spirits" looks familiar...
...it's me. I'm one of the spirits. 😅
I noticed that, and I'm so happy he got to add you in as a Cameo!
@@Fathom15128 I'm thrilled beyond words to have been included. 😅
@@Insaneian I'm extremely happy for you two! I love watching your videos and listening to your little details about everything, whether it be about a direct thing of the song, or something the song reminded you of. And with how highly you talk of Stupendium, I can only image what your reaction was when (I'm guessing) he asked you if you wanted to appear as a cameo
😂😂🤣
@@Fathom15128 thanks, I appreciate that! Yeah, he asked me the weekend before the video dropped if I would film a quick cameo. I definitely jumped at the chance! 😅
Actually Monkey Business is the name of the first Dark Deception level which is murder monkeys hotel.
Honestly, I never thought about the meaning in the songs of the Stupendium, with the exception of those three that I call "ode to humanity". That's why I'm here, on your channel.
And since the end of the year is approaching, it would be very interesting to see the your reaction to the trilogy of Christmas Horror songs from Stupendium. They're surprisingly cute, despite the theme.
5:06 the Pool Safety rule number three says "No Escape" (I just started paying attention to the background and I am finding the one reference after the other lol)
Stupendium always adds some real undertones mixed into the songs so it's not wrong to read deeper into it
Since it's post-Thanksgiving now, I'm going to start asking for you to react to Lights On A Truck by the Stupendium every time I remember. So...at least one time. But it's my favorite Christmas song ever!
With Christmas coming up, I'd love to see you react to "Lights on a Truck" in a few weeks! Probably my favorite holiday song, and it rang truer than ever when he remastered it for 2020!
Both the remaster and the original are legitimately excellent!
Would love to hear Dave's thought on this one! Though I do ask, if you see this Dave, that you definitely check out the 2020 remake and not the very old original as it's *very* old and poor quality and the 2020 version is a total from the ground up remake. :)
I will do that! Thanks!
Your interpretation of the song is very fun! I kind of got into the same direction when I heard it, though I do have a tendency to take things more literal. Also, Glad that chorus is getting stuck in other people's heads as much as mine.
This guy is like a word ninja. In the song 'It's a Joy', dude manages to work the word tintinnabulations into the rap. Old, never used word that means 'the sound bells make'. The song is based on the game 'We Happy Few', Basically, the 'Be happy. Not happy? Take your happy pills, or the mob will beat you to death' game.,
Apparently this game is just about running from monkeys in a hotel. Basically 3d horror Pac-Man. But the song is phenomenal.
I like how he reads so far into it when the meaning is very literal, hes got his own idea and it still works
You stopped to look at the ghosts around 6:25 and, while I didn't recognize 3 of them, the one just to his right (our left) is pretty obviously Insane Ian (another reactor and musician).
I don’t know his face that well to pick ‘em out like that.
In @InsaneIan's reaction video yesterday he identified the other ghosts in that scene. Glad to see Dave exploring more of the world of comedy music, too
3 of 4 four ghost's are from random encounters ^^
the last one is another reaction channel called insane ian
@@toystoryteletubbyism9722 He's also a comedy musician, so his reactions are aimed to pick up on details from that perspective
I love your reactions to the Stupendium. Great analysis as always.
Thank you for talking about cameos at the g h o s t part, that's the only reason I noticed someone in the shot, lol
I only discovered the game existed right when this song came out.
I looked up the game before watching the video and it made me very much hopefull for more songs of the same game
cause the game had episodes released at different times.
All you need to know about the game itself is that it involves running away from monsters. and you can find backstory stuff in hidden places
Think FPS Pac-man; running at speed, collecting crystals instead of dots, and you can only rarely see the whole map, or the enemies on it, when using a power up; otherwise, basically running blind through mazes.
I know it's not remotely what The Stupendium was going for, but I still think of "And So We Fall" as a near-perfect metaphor for school life in an exam year, especially my own.
I'm always super into the deep reads of the lyrics that you give us in these reactions
Always love to hear your thoughts on the music, Dave
Like how your dropping life knowledge on this music video that actually adds much slice-of-life to the first chapter environment
5:23 "Too busy to enjoy the simple things" you could say that 😅 running for your life from murderous bellhop monkeys collecting soul shards and finding a ring fragment to return to ma'am B constitutes as being busy I guess. Watching someone react to a song for a game they know nothing about is very interesting.
love how quick you got to this
I gave a like for the bad dad joke at the beginning 😂
I know I said it already, but please react to his Ratchet and Clank song next! I think you’ll like it a lot.
This is the first video I've seen of yours, but with such a soothing voice, I had to subscribe!
The end of the song mentions a 'stay of execution'
The reference should be about staying at a hotel with danger of geting executed.
Literally a stay of execution is a court order to not execute a court judgment.
But my interpretation of "enjoying your stay of execution" is avoiding execution
Was just about to comment on your most recent video to request this and then literally as im going to click on the video I get this notification.
No waves like home would be a good song to react to.
That, perhaps more than any of my songs, is certainly one where I was really just writing about personal experience through the lens of a game. No Waves Like Home, Fragments and Shine Through are like my trinity of songs with deeply personal reads underneath the game.
That’s my favorite song.
Fun thing is I say "business" in the same way. Mainly the italian accent is the culprit. But yeah, business tends to sound like "bees knees"
Deez nuts dave. DEEZ NUTS, DAVE!
Hey Dave, can you check out "Shia LaBeouf" Live by Rob Cantor? Even if you don't do a reaction, I think you might like it
I recommend the west was one my stupendium about red dead redemption 2
Its random encounters in the bar
I think the whole thing with emotional baggage has to do with the lore because the main character doug did some bad stuff and regrets it
