I am excited for it. George is often expressing his excitement for it, something he hardly did for Game of Thrones. He has seen every episodes besides the last one. It's getting praise from those who have seen it. It looks promising to me.
He praised Game of Thrones all the time dude. Just not the later seasons
He praises it because they paid him a shit ton of money for it.
@@phantomoutlaw8441 he gets the shit ton of money either way
@@Fjottle I mean he called House of the Dragon Season 1 'Amazing'
I never heard him compliment Game of Thrones like that, he complimented aspects of Game of Thrones because it had a very great team(Music, Direction, Cinematography, Set Design, Custom Design, Acting, Stunt and Action Team, etc) but always sounded like he doesn't consider the show as good as the books at all and I don't see him as the type of guy to want to hype something up, I think he genuinely likes HOTD as a superior and closer adaptation than Game of Thrones, the CZcamsrs who were invited to watch the first Episode are saying it's a closer adaptation to the books than Game of Thrones was.
Reading these positive comments remind me of the time GOT season 8 was just about to release. Everybody was soooo excited to see the dragons and white walkers fight in pretty colors , so much so that they forgot the story had already been butchered right after the show ran out of book material. I don't want any more spin-offs, prequels, sequels, movies etc etc based on this world, I want to know the ending, the true ending to A Song of Ice&Fire and the fate of my characters that I know and love. Unfortunately, that may never happen either.
I'm honestly looking forward to it. D&D aren't involved and the dynasty of House Targearyan has a definitive ending, unlike A Song of Ice and Fire
I'm honestly baffled what happened with D&D. Like 80% of the changes they made to the first 4 seasons were good and they were great writers. Like cersei's a robert's interactions were all them. it was good. But then... starting with season 5 and 6 something happened to their writing.
@@Alchemist1330 Well GRRM was involved in the writing of the first seasons, and that wasn't the case for the later seasons

@@Alchemist1330 George violated his contract and didn't publish, and still hasn't published....., WoW by the time they finished filming all the material they had from the current books and therefore had nothing to pull from and so had to pull the subsequent seasons out of their asses thus the trash we got.
@@Alchemist1330 80% was good?
No man, 20% was good
Remaining 80% was Fuckin' Amazing
What makes or breaks it for me is whether the showrunners designate one side as the “good guys” and one side as the “bad guys”. The Dance of the Dragons wasn’t some climatic fight between good and evil it was a family feud that got out of control and both the “Blacks” and “Greens” were full of both selfish/abusive sh*ts and also more morally upstanding individuals and both sides committed atrocities in equal measure against each other and the people of Westeros .
Making one side the “good guys” of the Targaryen civil war can/will blow up in the writers’ faces just like it did with Dany when D&D built her up as a fan favorite messiah figure but didn’t spend enough time highlighting her negative qualities and were forced to speed run her descent into madness/villainy.
The conflict should resemble the Lannisters vs Stannis or the Lannisters vs the Tyrells conflicts - two sides with reprehensible leaders with nuance and layers to their villainous motivations/acts and a few good people fighting on their behalf. Which of the two bad factions to support is ambiguous and up to individual viewer preference.
I have high hopes this won’t happen. Especially with Martin on these projects, he said his favorite characters are the ones where they are flawed; someone who can show their truest potential, and their worst aswell
They already said there is no good or evil in this story, and that the viewers will be split on who they support.
They literally said that won’t happen even in interviews and at comic con
@@aengusog3415 words and actions are 2 different things. Im remaining optimistic and hope they dont fuck this up but I can see them trying to portray Rhaenyra as the "Chad strong female standing up to Patriarchy that doesnt allow women on the throne"
Nah you know they will sadly make the girl the good side to adhere to feminists
One thing that gives me a lot of hope for it is that GRRM has openly endorsed and cosigned it publicly based on what he's seen.
When GOT got strange and diverged heavily from the books, you couldn't find him for love nor money and he didn't speak of the show at all. New episodes would be coming out and he'd be on his blog talking about random things and other shows that he was watching as if the world renowned adaptation of his ongoing magnum opus didn't even exist.
George wrote a bunch of the show with the show runner before they ever proposed it to HBO.
@@cosmiccomedy7394 Didn't know, thanks
@@Cunnysmythe yeah no problem...that's great news for the show but unfortunately not great for Winds.
Just feel obliged to point out that Jimmy Cameron endored the latest terminator. Cus of course he did, he can't hardly come out and say the new show is gunna suck can he?
Not that I'm saying it will suck. Just saying.
@@Daneki ok but like the original commenter said George endorsed the original GOTs seasons and they were great. But when the later seasons came out that diverged from the books he didn't say much of anything. So George seems to be pretty honest about his opinions of the show. If he likes it he will say that and if not he won't say anything.
if the dialogue is good, then the show will be amazing. it all comes down to the dialogue.
The dialogue from the trailers doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

@@salem8092 Yeah, that's what I've heard. Martin's style is tough to emulate, it takes a real fan of his work to create fitting dialogue.
I really, really liked Viserys' "they are a power men should never have trifled with" line. It's in the style and shows Viserys' almost non-targaryen like mindset which is further evidenced by him picking a basically half dead Balerion to ride (also keep in mind that I believe riders cannot bond with multiple Dragons even if their dies). I think it's clear Viserys doesn't love the idea of Dragons.
no "bad bussies" and "fingers in the bum"
you're coping to the max, no one cares about writing dialogue anymore
I think House of the Dragon needs to distance itself from Game of Thrones due to that show’s disastrous ending. I’ve seen so many people recently saying they have no interest in watching HotD, regardless of the new showrunners, because they already know the story that follows this one is so disappointing. On the other hand, HotD has the potential to establish a whole new canon and give a fresh take on GRRM’s world. The other prequels HBO is developing can exist in this new canon, and some day, when the books are finished, ASOIAF could get a new adaptation, more faithful to GRRM’s vision from start to finish.
The problem is that, like it or not, we know that the Dance won't amount to anything new; Bran the Broken (who was a better story than him?) will end up as king 150 or so years later, and the Targaryens will be reduced to a guy who can't seem to be able to say anything more than 'I don't want it' and 'she's my queen'. That being said, I didn't mind GoT's ending because I was never a diehard fan (and the amount of salt the series finale brought gave me life). I will be watching HotD for, if nothing else, watching people fight on the internet regarding fictional characters, and seeing dragons die left and right.
Honestly Ryan Condal inspires more confidence than Miguel. Miguel is a technicality guy who deals with action scenes, but Miguel underestimates his audience by suggesting that people can't tell the difference between Rhaenys and Rhaenyra. Ryan is a book nerd so he's the one keeping the lore as is.
GOT was great because the intricate plot. All the other stuff was extra flash. I agree with you, don't assume the audience will get totally confused and quit. The first 3 episodes of GOT were totally confusing to the first time watcher, but that's also what makes it good.
If you get everything the first time, then it's popcorn and you buy a new bag next week. It's the details that get people to come back to a story, and buy its merch.
that's what piss me off about big projects in the entertainment industry
they try to entertain the most casual part of the audience that doesn't remember what happened a day after
the thing great about Game of Thrones(first 4 seasons) was that the casuals had to keep up with the nerds if they wanted to really enjoy it, and if they couldn't then it's not the show's fault.
@@Ar1AnX1x you don't have to follow every plot to enjoy the show. first four seasons have plenty of dumb scenes too, but most people don't have to know that it's absolutely idiotic for Asha Greyjoy to sail from Pyke to Sunspear and then to Dreadfort and then back again just to fight shirtless Ramsay for 5 seconds.
@@RichardHorpe wasn't that season 5?
It's astounding to me to think that D&D had to shoe-in dialogue-heavy scenes in the early seasons because they didn't have the budget for more action scenes. Those dialogue scenes were great and immensely valuable for viewers to understand more about the characters and the lore- especially if they hadn't read the books. That Robert and Cersei conversation is a fantastic example of that.
Unpopular opinion: D&D could write good dialogue and good scenes when they wanted to.
@@zaja2418 yeah, D&D are extremely good writers when they have source material to work off of, because they were so good at adding details and fleshing things out - but that's all they can do, so S8 of GOT ended up as just consecutive scenes of ideas that were thought on for a few minutes rather than a whole story with added development :/
@@totallygreatgamer2957 Yep, I bet D&D will get more jobs soon but oh god please don’t let them write from scratch
I am also cautiously optimistic. They need to remember what made GoT 1-4 so great. Deep characterization, strong dialogue and scenes, a coherent and well paced plot that is always engaging.
Coming back and reading this after the fact. Wow...it was so much better than I expected. I hope they keep the quality going. Finale on Sunday, and I can't wait.
im ready to step back into westeros with less expectation. “cautiously optimistic” is the perfect way to phrase it. looking forward to this .
Based on behind the scenes info, Ryan Condell was chosen for the role (by Martin himself.) because of his vast knowledge of the World of Ice and Fire and fanatical loyalty to the original source material.
I even found one story that said that the other showrunner, Sapochnick, asked if they could change some of the names of the dragons because they sound very similar with lots of X's and the actors feel as if they're reciting the names of Santa's reindeer.
Condell rejected him outright.
smart move by martin on putting two showrunners one being fanatically loyal to the books (ryan) and one experienced on television (miguel)
not the dragons name, but the Targaryen name like Rhaenys and Rhaenyra, Condall rejected that idea, stating that they can't do that, he's trying to follow the book as close as possible.
I hope Ryan really is a fan, because in the case of D&D, Martin said similar things when GoT started, for example that they knew about Jon Snow mother and stuff like that to make it seem they loved the saga....
"Fanatical loyalty to the original source material"
Processed to change the race of a entire dynasty for nothing but wokeness. Big red flag
@@bloodraven347 i mean that's probably the only big change of the source material that we see and then, that doesn't mean the entire velaryon dinasty is black
I think the real question everyone askes themself is if Ed Sheren will be in the first season.
ed was only there for maisie williams
I would like to disagree with the biggest problem of GoT being the lack of books. Yes, that’s part of it, but they also hadn’t run out of books yet. They still had material for another maybe three seasons in the books, some of which made it to seasons 5 and 6 but not nearly all of it. I’m even going to say that seasons 3 and 4 could have shown some of the book Ironborn plot with Asha, Aeron and Victarion, as that’s where those stories fit chronologically and those two seasons had quite a lot of original material. It might have streamlined those seasons and the Ironborn plot a little bit. Just some thoughts, feel free to disagree and it’s too late anyway. Let’s hope that the book series can be finished one day and that we might even get a reboot (unlikely) in maybe 20-30 years time.
S3 should’ve set up Balon being killed and Euron returning to the iron islands as set up in the storm of swords and then the ironborn chapters in a feast of crows up to and including the kingsmoot should’ve been adapted in season 4. Would’ve been an epic way to establish euron as a new threat
@@John-xr9ry Exactly, and we needed the real Euron, not the ”rockstar swagger” version they gave us
Unfortunately D&D got bored of running the most successful show ever and rushed it all. They should have just been forced out at the very second they lost interest.
They stopped caring because George violated his contract and didn't, and still hasn't, published his book so they just wanted to get it over and done with as they knew it was going to turn into a train wreck regardless as whether they shat out another few seasons with what they had they were still going to run out of material and not have a way to end it.
@@A_Black_Sheep94 exactly, l feel like adding storylines from the books that they most probably had already agreed on skipping early on would’ve just prolonged the agony. As much as l dislike many of D&D’s choices, a TV show has laws of development and progression. You can’t just cram the writer’s leftovers in it and hope for the best.
I hope they don't rush the story and they give us time to connect with every character so every fight and death and surprise and betrayal feels real and important, as if one of our friends died, like the first seasons of GOT.
The show won’t last as long as game does thrones the most they can probably do is 3 to 4 seasons max because a lot of events like he said is not really first person but for. Third person aka the maestor of that time
@@jmoneyextreme3843 yeah but there is a lot of material to work with, I think if they rushed it they could finish it in 4 seasons but if they did it properly with good dialogue and character development scenes they would at least have to do 6 seasons. And they could do even more but it would become kinda difficult and maybe even boring because important events would be too spaced out.
The first thing that convinces me about House of the Dragon is Ryan Condall being picked and chosen by George RR Martin himself. Then I also dig some research that turns out Ryan was even a fan of ASOIAF and George since even the 4th ASOIAF book was not yet released, so yeah since about 20 years ago. They have met a couple of times for few years prior to Ryan being chosen by George to run the House of the Dragon, so they already have better relationship than the Double D and George. Plus George himself is one of the executive producers, so he's not only an author who is just occasionally being used for advice or counsel. The thing that worries me a bit though, probably the dialogues and pacing. I've read the books and there are few time jumps, since it's like a fake history book, not a lot of dialogues, the history was written by 3 sources (using 3 perspectives). I see those both as a challenge and also as a blessing, it's gonna be a challenge for them to fill in some bits, make it more detailed, but with the source being a history book, they have the opportunity to choose whichever perspective fits to be used. I think that the show even can be more canon than F&B itself since it'll have more details.
Oh, yeah, it’s going to be really interesting seeing what source the writers will use for different ambigious events but considering fire and blood constantly suggests what explanation is more likely, I don’t think it should be that big of a challenge
The most worrisome things to me are (1) the books are just a series of events and rumors, with little actual dialogue, like you said, and (2) there are a metric fuckton of dragons. The show tried to keep magical beasts off camera as much as possible. This is a war where every named character rides one.
Ryan Condal is a TV writer. He wrote Colony which was very well received by the audience!
I watched Episode 1. I can say I loved it.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Matt Smith in the Crown where he literally played royal. I think of him in that before I think of Morbius or Dr Who.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT should be the main goal of this show, if they fail at this, it's just gonna be a cool cinematographic dragon sequence that everyone feels meh about.
"Has a lot of range and is likeable."
*Inserts clip of Morbius dance*
Sure there’s reasons to be skeptical but hot damn does the show look beautiful from the trailers we got so far. I feel like all they need is to nail the dialogue and certain plot points and this show will be great.
tbf, Ryan Condal is long time friends with GRRM, and was a fan of the books before GoT was ever even a concept.
I feel safe knowing that George is more hands on with this especially considering the story is already written compared to GoT where he stepped away after s4/s5 due to the books. The fact GRRM went & organized a majority of this Without HBO has me relieved because it means he holds a majority of control over what the writers really put into the story. I have faith considering there isn't much world building to do with the Targs as they're still young in their Dynasty compare to the events of GoT. The actors too, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best & Steve Toussaint are going to KILL their roles so I have complete faith, im just hoping the Dragon scenes/battles live up to the hype of what's in the tales since the acting will be 💯
I'm looking forward to seeing Milly Alcock in this. She was in a fantastic series called Upright with Tim Minchin and she was brilliant in it.
Yes! That show is great and she is a fantastic actor in it
I wish this could bring back the good old days of got
IM HYPED AND EXCITED FOR IT
I'm hoping the show pulls out ALL the stops when showing us the Battle above the Gods Eye over Harrenhal
Daemon Targaryen has always been one of the most intriguing characters in the ASOIAF universe, Matt Smith is the perfect choice to play him (hopefully)
The casting for Alicent is perfect. Cooke portrays how sinister she is perfectly, like the pride, determination, anxiety she shows it so well!!!
Just like they didn't think we noticed when Martyn Lannister turned into Tommen Baratheon lol
What a well researched video, great job!
I’m so excited for the show bro. I can’t wait honestly
I love how he started with being "cautiously optimistic" & now he's all "this is one of the greatest shows of all time"
Music in the trailer is awesome and visuals too can't wait🔥
It’s looks amazing so far!
I have a very selfish hope that this show does well, simply because a successful spin-off might revive this franchise for me personally. After Season 8, any enjoyment over what for years was my favourite fictional world (by FAR, barring LotR) was just sucked out of me, and I would love nothing more to get back into this world that I have spent so much time obsessing over.
Summed up it for me as well perfectly. I really loved GoT, and to see the show being treated so carelessly broke my heart. I almost don't dare to hope for HoTD to revive that love, but oh well
I was waiting for you to talk about it.
Yes, just like Jon Favreau in The Mandolorian
I would love for George himself writing some of the episodes. He wrote some Episodes on GoT
Most directors when doing a finale season: this show has been a big part of our lives so let’s take our time and put everything we’ve got into this last season!
DnD: no let’s go do Star Wars instead
I wouldn’t say the lack of action in the early seasons of game of thrones is entirely budget related as even in the books there really aren’t that many battles that get described. All of Rob’s battles are only told of by characters no point of view character was ever there
Cant wait for your review of I am Groot!
Gonna be a banger!
i just hope they manage to recreate the same feeling got had in the first few seasons with the dialogue and characters
I would love if the composer's work in game of thrones is reused if it's a similar theme. Like if for some reason we see a faceless man, having their theme music play would be legendary.
I've been re-watching Game of Thrones and absolutely loving it, I'm optimistic for this show and keen to see how it pans out.
I AM HERE (a while) AFTER SEASON ONE FINISHED AND OTHER THAN 1 WEIRD EPISODE IT WAS AMAZING AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON 2
I like what I’m seeing so far
IM REALLY EXCITED!
Liked to see all the doctor who clips when you mentioned Matt Smith! He was good in the crown too
Primal, be it an animated TV show, perfectly encapsulates how no dialogue is needed to create an amazing story.
The writers on this show obviously aren't going to go that route, but if they stick to the narrative side of things then I genuinely would not mind scenes not dependent on the dialogue...especially with such good actors in this, I think it could really work.
GoT used to be my favourite show untill season 8. I hope this new show recaptures my love for this world.

I don't know if it's in fire and blood, but the original source material for the dance of the dragons is the princess and the Queen written many years ago.
Agreed. I'm happy we're getting it but I'm not holding my breath in anticipation. My biggest fear is that it'll be too much like S6 of GoT since Miguel Sapochnik is heavily involved.
I mean, it’s not Miguel’s fault a lot of S6 was poorly written. He was only a director and battle of the bastards and winds of winter are top tier television when it comes to filmmaking
@@joeyjerry1586 bastardbowl is fun until you realize that Umber has Rickon and somehow decides to be a dick for no reason. in the books Manderly's price for kneeling for Stannis is for Davos to find Prince Rickon. No matter how good the action is, it doesn't change the fact that it made every northern lord other than Lyanna Mormont a total dick. that said I hear the original plan for bastardbowl is for Umber to turn on the Boltons in the end but they scrapped it out of laziness because they want the "Oh I'm Jon Snow I fight against all odds durr durr" plot.
@@RichardHorpe, that has nothing to do with miguel’s directing though.
he’s a director, not a writer. cinematically season 6 was great
Not sure if you watched the 2019 HBO mini series Chernobyl… but the writing for has been near universally praised, but Craig Mazin, the writer was only known previously for some… errr… less notable works haha. But he blew everyone away with not only his writing, but his grasp for that time and place in history. It SOUNDS like Ryan Condal has a great understanding of this world, so hopefully he will have a chance to blow us all away with House of the Dragon!
Tl;Dr: sometimes writers have to pen some real shitters before they have the shot of their career to write something amazing
Sorry for saying “but” so much haha I typed that comment at work and kept getting interrupted XD
I really hope they don't change the ending or something just to subvert the expectations.
Matt Smith’s turn as Prince Phillip in The Crown is the role I see the best comparison to Daemon. It’s got a sharp, glowering, selfish playboyness.
Grrm being involved is great
Waiting for it with bated breath. They've shown me enough to allow me to think of this to be a completely separate entity from GoT.
WHAT? The marriage discussion scene between Cersei and Robert was improvised by Dumb and Dumber??????? I DON'T BELIEVE IT.
Believe it. That was my favorite scene in season 1. I couldn't wait for it when I decided to read the books. It never came 😒
@@Edmures_rampant_manhood Oh my God. Yea that is my favorite scene too, of all GoT. Makes me cry with that cello string, those Robert's eyes, the lines, the depth of words that carve into history and soul...
I haven't seen anything Ryan Condal has written but GRRM seems to hold his writing skills in high regard and has talked how well written he thinks this show is, so I think we're in good hands - and he's a huge fan of the books and fantasy in general. Besides, it's not just him writing the whole show, there's seven other writers with plenty of experience and awards between them.
0:52 Rampage is a video game movie that’s actually enjoyable. So the fact this guy actually avoided the video game curse even slightly is actually really impressive.
OH PLEASE! We gave Better Call Saul a chance after Breaking Bad and it wasn't Breaking Bad, but it turned out to be a masterpiece. Give it a chance!!
Certainly want to be optimistic about the show. If they stay faithful to the source material (despite it's lack of fleshed out dialogue), then they have a great story to tell.
I just really hope the story isn't contorted to 'subvert expectations' or play to 'real world sensibilities' however. Two sure fire ways to kill the ethos of the show right there. They've got to make sure that we're firmly planted back into Westeros, the place we were able to awe at on screen in Game of Thrones.
I never finished GOT but I’m planning on watching this show.
I hope it’ll be entertaining.
Graeme Mactavish always crushes any role he plays
Considering the first season is the lead up to the Dance, I don't think it will focus too much on the action parts.
Yeah, there are a tourney, the war for the Stepstones and Daemon cousing chaos ; but aside from that, the first season should introduce the characters and flesh out their relationship for the most part.
We will see a lot of dragons tho, that's guaranteed.
Hello, newcomer here. I'm familiar with GOT and all of its story, but haven't seen nor care to watch the og show. Yet, I'm interested in HotD. Is it possible to walk into the show blind without haven't seen any episode from the previous series?
Its set about 200y before GoT so yes, its possible to go blind since it doesn't rlly connect to GoT in anyway other than some family lineage and few book stuffs
Yes. It's a prequel. Never having seen GoT might even enhance your experience.
I’m a fan of Fire and Blood. I think there were plenty of details to at least hint at characterization and frantic events to keep the show going in the right direction.
I don't have high hopes. I think it will probably be mediocre, but you never know.
I think they need to use the blood of my blood theme. I just can't imagine seeing dragons without this incredible theme.
isnt that a dothraki phrase? the dothraki wont be in this show so i doubt theyll use that theme again
Obviously a different genre of show but the other creator of HBO’s Barry, Alec Berg, was a writer on the Mike Myers ‘Cat in the Hat’ movie. I believe the ‘Chernobyl’ creator was a writer for ‘Superhero Movie’ and ‘Epic Movie.’ Sometimes, writers just need that one chance to change the quality of their resume. Hopefully that’s the case with Ryan Condal and he knocks it out of the park here.
4:30 I'm sure you have seen Graham Mctavish more than briefly since he is in Aquaman, Witcher, he was great in Preacher, he is the voice of Dracula in Castlevania, he is Dwalin in the Hobbit, he was in Lost, Prison Break, Rome, and so on. If you want to follow up Ian McElhinney's Barristan Selmy, i think Graham is an excellent choice.
I’m hoping for the best. I dunno if it’s gonna be that good without David and Dans witty writing skills
When you said Dumb & dumber had nothing to do with the show, made me feel so excited; but when you said that the writer of Rampage and Hercules was doing anything here. Damn it's going to be a rollercoaster of emotion
After the first episode. I’m intrigued but they’re still gonna have to fight for my attention.
Is there any chance that you talk about the Rings of Power?
Also, this is their last chance to save the concept of game of thrones shows, to prove to the fans that there is something here hbo can work with. So they don't have any other option than to pull it off if they want to make more shows/movies in that universe
The one red flag for me is the constant talk about the dragons in promo articles, with very little being said about the human characters or story. I hope it's because they want to surprise the audience and not because they just don't have much of a story to tell.
well. if i were them, i wouldnt want to give away too much in the promos either. i think the materials they published so far are right amount of information.
The articles are made by media people who only want to attract normies with big CGI lizards. In the actual interviews of the showrunners, cast and GRRM, they all have been praising the dialogue, complex characters and the dark tone of the show.
Dragons are easier to praise. Like "Hey see, a Big fucking dragon. Cool isn't it?". But is not that easy with the characters without spoiling too much
Thaaaaaat's marketing
Reading these positive comments remind me of the time GOT season 8 was just about to release. Everybody was soooo excited to see the dragons and white walkers fight in pretty colors , so much so that they forgot the story had already been butchered right after the show ran out of book material. I don't want any more spin-offs, prequels, sequels, movies etc etc based on this world, I want to know the ending, the true ending to A Song of Ice&Fire and the fate of my characters that I know and love. Unfortunately, that may never happen either.
It wasn't butchered after they ran out of book material. Season 5 and especially 6 were still pretty good. The show stated to deteriorate in Season 7, because D&D decided to focus on action, CGI and dragons rather than on creating a compelling story.
Ryan Condal has the backing of George. I'm not worried about him at all.
They cut off the Mya and Catelyn Moon Door scene, which is sad because Mya even though she has get interaction with characters vs a few mentions, she's actually a character I would have liked to see in the show.
What was the scene about ?
I don't expect it to be as great as the first 4 or even the first 6 seasons of game of thrones, just because I've read the game of thrones books and fire and blood was great but didn't really match the game of thrones books. I sometimes wonder if george realized he wouldn't be able to finish the books before the series ended and just decided to finish fire and blood completely so that they had a full story for the spinoff.
Before I see the video: Me too Bud!
Ryan knows George almost 9 years, read all his books, knows George's world, so i trust in Ryan
I mean I’m really worried about corlys casting. Not just because he’s black but because his genealogy is kinda important to the arguments for all laenors kids which if suddenly grandpa is half black it’s gonna be a lot more noticeable if they are not his kids. In fire and blood they look very little like him which causes issues for people claiming they’re not his. But if suddenly it’s a hey your dad is half black and you’re clearly completely devoid of any of those genes. Plus there’s alyn and Adam velaryon who it’s theorized are actually corlys’ bastards not laenor but with the skin tone difference that makes it kind obvious. And genetics are atleast slightly understood in this world since that’s central to being able to figure out that Joffrey isn’t roberts kid
seeing the lord of the rings trailer made me even more optimistic about game of thrones, even if its bad its not that bad probably
yeah ...they didnt even bother to give them purple eyes in a show mostly about targaryens ....so i`m in the skeptical side
Eyes aren't a big deal
Why would they?? They never had purple eyes in GoT neither.
@@gudhaxer41343 because this is a show mostly about people with purple eyes .....in the main show they were like 3 of them so i understand not doing it ,but here ? are they gonna replace the dragons with horses next ?
I'm both actually. I am super pessimistic and expect a catastrophe but I will check it out anyway
I will be watching :)
Yes, I feel identical. I am praying they don't inject specific 2022 political and social perspectives into the show, and just keep it how GRRM wrote it. I feel like the fluidity of the truth of the story in the book (given that it's unreliably narrated) will be used as a way to push modern day allegories and I am simply uninterested. This is a book about medieval times and the show should be the same. Aside from that, I just hope that they spoke closely with GRRM at as many turns as possible, and that he truly did sign off everything as best in accordance with the book and his wishes as possible.
Oh bloody hell, stop it with this strawman of an argument. I can already guarantee you that you will dislike it because if anything only resembles something like fight against patriarchy etc., the alt right snow flakes will scream "woke" at the top of their lungs. When, in fact, the story of house of the dragon is very much connected with the fact that the world of GRRM is dominated by men and he makes it abundantly clear in his books that that is not a good thing. And yes, of course they will have to tackle this issue in an adaptation, as it is one of the key themes of the dance of the dragons. And no, themes are not for 8th grade book reports, like our two most favourite show runners once said, themes are essential for good and complex stories.
@@engee5275 It isn't strawman in any way, shape or form. I am perfectly happy that the original story conveys the problems with a fundamentally patriarchal society. I know that is the foundation of the books and that is no problem to me. You're wrong. I'm not screaming that might be 'woke' simply because of the fact that it tackles the patriarchy. I'm worried it might be 'woke' because every other product that comes out in modern day entertainment has to contain topics on 'representation' and 'the struggles women have hidden underneath the male gaze' and all kinds of similar talking points. Already one of the actresses generalised it down to 'if the men would just fuck off, the women would get things done'. Similarly, Emma D'Arcy characterised Rhaenyra as being terrified of being locked into motherhood. Now, again, if that's in the book, no worry at all. But if it's just being added in to 'draw a comparison to women in 2022', no thank you. And again, before you continue leaping down my throat, I'm the first one to admit that I haven't read Fire and Blood unlike the ASOIAF books, so I was simply worried aloud. But my point is absolutely valid when again, there is an absolute swathe of films, TV shows, comics, books nowadays that are fixated on 'tackling the social and political questions of today's day' regardless of if they are relevant to the story or the time (especially in a medieval fantasy, period piece like this).
Again, if those questions are in the book, I do not have one problem as I trust GRRM to have conveyed it in a nuanced and subtle manner. The problem for me is if they are adding it on-top of the adapted book content just to draw the usual talking points constantly pushed into every piece of escapism today. Let alone with an adaptation where, as we saw with the hacks D&D, it opens up the opportunity for someone to totally butcher the entire idea and, even if it is something that is comparable to the politics and social themes of today, my point was that I am extremely sceptical of people outside of GRRM, accurately and faithfully telling that as it was in the book. We saw how D&D from Season 4, and without the finishing of GRRM's books (thankfully something that doesn't factor here, in addition to GRRM's much heavier involvement), were able to wrestle the adaptation away from him, ruin and totally misrepresent it. And again, I am so burned out by people's very specific, very personal, very divisive opinions and biases and agenda's being even drip fed into what should be pure entertainment, that the idea that they could have diluted it down and still included even a number of 'woke' scenes just worries me. The last thing I want to do is be preached at, like so many products do nowadays.

I too have noticed that shows are doing this more and more. Including "the boys" which I have decided to stop watching because i cant take the trump references. Its annoying and pathetic. I just want to watch the show, not be told what to think or what side to choose because i dont believe in politics anyway.
@@Ready-ForTheEnd Yes, absolutely agreed. I was really drawn into how the scene of the man being convinced by Stormfront into shooting a suspected super was shot and edited, until I realised that it was a total 'far right' insert to essential be a meta commentary of what leftist Hollywood believes disillusioned 'far right' people are capable of or potentially going to do, which the perspectives given in the comments only further reinforced. It is just too obvious at that point, and is rooted so deeply in a very specific, very opinionated and ultimately venomous stance, that it just becomes totally biased, preachy and really off-putting.
I think Rhys Ifans is the most accomplished actor in the show. Glad he was cast in that specific role.
I don't think House of the dragon will reach the heights of seasons 1-3 but it probably wont reach the lows of season 8 But I'm a huge northern fanboy so I'm really excited to see who they cast as Cregan Stark and Lord Roderick the ruin
Please please pretty please do a video on the dance of dragons!
As someone who dropped watching GoT in the middle of Season 7, I probably won't care enough to commit to watching the entire season/series of HotD, even though it could be good. Funny how that works.
On a side note, I still associate "HotD" abbreviation with Helm of the Dominator first and foremost :P
I think I'm actually more concerned about the choice of Sapochnik for showrunner than I am about Condal. Don't get me wrong, I loved Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards, but it's not why I watched the show. I'm concerned that the choice of the "battle episode" guy for showrunner over all the other great GOT writers might be indicative of the overall approach HBO is taking with this one.
Lol the “battle episode guy”. I love it
