    I bought one on consignment that was listed for $125, but I waited 4 weeks, and the price dropped to $65. I jumped on it and bought it! I was sure the hobby grade buyers would have snatched it up, but they didn't !! 😮

    looks so very nice, even if I like carbon and fully tuned chassis, the spectator from the outside will just love what he sees, the pro racer will perhaps hear what he does not see. and then see in his mind, what he just heard (no ball diff, no expensive hardened plastic gear diff) :-)

    I have one that was beat up, I disassembled the whole car repainting it, stripped out the antiquated electronics, putting in a hpi electronics with a digital speed control reciever and futaba servo for steering and a brushless 550 motor, built a windshield pillar reinforced and replacing all the lighting with led

    Awesome job. I purchased one of these from radio shack as well back in 2005 for 100.00 bucks. Cant go wrong. Technology has come a long way. I was thinking of up grading mine also. But lm not due to me purchasing a losi 1969 Camaro that flys at speeds of 45 MPH. And thats out of the box. You did a great job with your video. God bless.

    Very nice looking RC, I’m surprised it had a 550 motor in it to begin with. Only 9mph standard & 13-14mph with the 12t 550. Must be the gearing, I’d be tempted, to try & put a 16t pinion in it. Interesting well detailed model that you can drive 😎

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi sir, so yes gearing ratio is for torque and also it’s very heavy. Unfortunately the motor mount is non adjustable so pinion change is not possible without some crazy modifications to the housing. Also if pinion size increases acceleration decreases. There’s really a limit to some cars as I nearly flipped this several times. If I had the owner would not have liked that. So my Camero I’ll change as much as I can maybe 20mph? Stay tuned for that. Thanks again 🙏

    Is it possible to modify it without harming its electrical components to allow leg room for a 12" tall action figure, like G.I. Joe? I've seen other 1:6 cars that were modified that way. Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

    Nice modification!!!
    Picked up one of these in November of 2020 for about $140 Total. These can get pretty pricey on EBay.
    Mine’s in decent shape just a bit dusty and only missing mirrors. I was wondering how to upgrade to get more performance but keep stock electronics. Your video is probably what I’ll try doing.
    A few questions:
    Do you think replacing the rear springs might help the ride?
    My tires have very mild flat spots. Any idea on fixing those? Add foam inserts or something?
    Again, awesome job.

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi good sir, great find. Yes softer springs would help. Unfortunately tires are glued on so not sure what aftermarket wheels would work I’ll do a future video on mine with trial and errors. Thanks again ✌️

    • @rcalltypes8230
      @rcalltypes8230 Před 2 lety

      I’d put the car on a stand, to keep the wheels off the ground, so the tires don’t get worse. It must have being sitting for a long time, to get flat spots on your tires. Now I store all my RC with the wheels off the ground, nothing worse when that happens.

    • @2005silver
      @2005silver Před 2 lety

      @@rcalltypes8230 Yeah. It was very dusty so was probably sitting on a shelf or something. The flat spots aren’t too bad. Still drives okay. I currently have it bubble wrapped and in a box on its side.

      I was stupid enough to opened and throwing away the original box because of the space it was taking on my storage, But the best still was sealed. I bought it in 2007 at a flea market not sure about the price, but it was less than $100 for sure.
      I still have in great condition, but never bought the battery and charger, if anybody knows where can I get battery and charger I will appreciate it.

    • @2005silver
      @2005silver Před 2 lety

      @@loquendozlocoz6798 Sounds like you have a great one. The type of battery is very common and easy to find. Can be found on Amazon or EBay. Look for 7.2v NIMH with a tamiya connector. Similar search for a charger. Look for a 7.2v NIMH charger with a tamiya connector.

    Thats a good lookin rc. I just picked one up locally for real cheap. Like you said the window frame is almost always broken. This one is completely broken off. Few scratches on the body. Any pointers on how to repair the window frame? Great video btw!

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety +1

      So glad you got one. Quite special and at whatever price too as nobody made an rc like this large with lights, hood doors that open and a steering wheel that works too with 550 motor, alarm etc for the price this was. And still. The frame could be repaired with an epoxy a 2 part type. Still gonna be fragile - these were ok to run stock but a bit boring. More display type thing -What I done for my buddy is help it out a bit with 14/15 mph now. Thanks for watching good luck too

    Hello! Question I have a body shell 2005 Nikko r/c 70 Plymouth Superbird. It says 1/10
    I have no idea what scale it is thinking about building a no prep drag car, can you tell me what size chassis I need for it?

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety

      Good question sir unfortunately I’m not familiar with that car so I wouldn’t be much help. I would probably just measure it via mm and search that size chassis. I know Tamiya use this method in a sense such as 190mm and 200mm regardless take a measurement of the wheel base or center arch. Hope this helps. Thanks please check my other rc videos and subscribe

      @@LukesVintageRC I guess the first big one is where do you go to find these older cars to fix up? I have tried looking on eBay and marketplace but it seems like everything there is ridiculously priced. Did not know if there may be other good places to try and find something to fix up. Not trying to get your inside sources or anything just wondering if there is a better place for me to try and look. Secondly what is your favorite cleaning products? Like what are your go to ones for general cleaning and then like deep "gotta get the crud off" cleaning... Again, not trying to get the secret sauce recipe, just wondering.

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry late response, so some of the cars I restore on the channel is friend or family. I typically mention that. For my own projects it’s ebay notification settings. I’ll get alerts, If price high I’ll contact seller and tell them my intentions and 7 out of ten items they give me a discount. Example: i found a Nikko f10 for $89. I told seller I’d pay 60 via PayPal within 5 minutes no problems on my end or return issues.I’ll leave good feedback immediately. Two days later an offer $60. I also check Mercari, Craigslist, market place and Tamiya club too. As far as price it depends. You want a few rc it’s ok. If your doing a vintage rc channel with a different project every time yikes 😬. Thanks again

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  Před 2 lety +1

      For cleaning rc I use anything really that’s soapy, high suds content. Most dish soap is ok for my use, i even used shaving cream a few times. The more time the better outcome. No special sauce on anything I do i promise it’s all in videos -no short cuts. Hrs and days on each project. It’s not hard just eats time really. Wish you best on your rc channel and I’ll definitely subscribe.✌️
