- Welcome to Day 1 of 3 paddling 30 miles on Black Creek near Brooklyn, MS. Join me and 6 friends as we explore this beautiful creek through the DeSoto National Forest in Southern Mississippi.
nice trip
Preciate it! We were near Camp Shelby and some type of aerial gunnery range. We would hear a bu-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da every now and then. Pretty cool!
Looks so relaxing. Can’t wait to get my kayak back in the water ❤
Thank you! It was a super relaxing trip! I love trips like this. I hope you get to get on the water soon!!
Another great paddling adventure video Dan! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip! 🛶😎👍
Thanks so much, Dewey!! I like these laid back trips!! :)
You are one lucky man, brother looking forward to seeing your new video. Just be safe
Thanks so much, Billy! I am lucky...blessed, even! I actually mention that briefly in the next video (coming out Saturday) about how trips like this and good friends are a blessing from God!! Thanks and will do, Billy!!
Nice setup and a leisurely paddle.
Thank you! Yes, it was a truly relaxing trip!!
That looked like a great paddle and quite the fire at 18:32. Enjoyed it.
Thanks, Lashonda! We had a lot of time at camp that last evening...lol! Love those fires!!
How lovely, with trees casting light and shadow on the river and the sun glittering on the water. Beautiful beaches from time to time and a friendly bunch of paddlers. Can you ask for more?
Thank you...and no, I couldn't ask for more! It was a perfect trip!! :)
Thats on my to do list for sure :) awesome trip
Thanks, Terry! It's a fantastic float, for sure!!!
Congrats on checking off Mississippi. The water looked beautiful and you can't beat steaks on the beach.
Thank you, John!! Those steaks were fantastic and the setting just makes them better!! :)
Looks like a nice place to canoe. Hope there are no Gators around. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, David! I never heard for sure whether any gators were here. It's awful shallow in places, but could possibly still hold a few. It was an awesome trip!!
Awesome adventure. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. 😀👍✝️ I’m ready for day 2.
Thank you, brother! We had a lot of fun on this trip. Part 2 will come out this Saturday! Thanks again!!!
That looks like a great paddle. That water and sand makes me think of the Perdido River. I just ran across my photos that I took on that trip, the other night. I caught a cold on that trip and actually did not video any, but apparently, I felt taking a ton of photos.
LOL- I caught a cold on this one, but fortunately it didn't "kick in" until I got back. It's been a rough week (last week), but I'm better now. Thanks so much, Brad!!
Mr. Paddler, Cool you are in Mississippi
Are you expecting alligators?
It is like you are canoeing in the tea..wow
Is the water low? or this is typical water level?
I see rocks and dead tree in the water
The water is calm and the weather is pretty
Nothing else to ask for...
hahah I bet you love those thick steak! having company around campfire is inviting.
Thank you for sharing this pleasant paddling.
I would love to go back in the water soon again.
You will have a great projects this year.
Thank you, Ms. Kayak7Seas! The water was in the normal range, but it was on the low end of the range. A little lower and you'd be dragging some. But it was very relaxing and the steaks were delicious!! Hope you both have more great adventures this year!!
Hi Dan how you doing man? Look like day one was a good day & relaxing day too. Nice group you have too that makes it a lot of fun man. I can't wait to it warm up I lil bit more to pull out the kayak man. I wanted to pull the kayak out today to clean up from winter time Storage but we have 50mph winds going on right now but it's sunny out side so I just had to try out for a Another weekend . Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this.
Hey Mack!! Man, the wind has been crazy here this spring (and it kind of was last year two). I hate fighting the wind too, but I do hope you get to get on the water soon! Take care, Mack!
Awesome video Dan, me and some friends would do a yearly overnight trip on the black creek many years ago. I look forward to the rest of the videos.
How cool, Jito!! It was my first time there and I loved every minute of it! Such a beautiful, peaceful creek and an overall great area!! I would do that one again in a heartbeat!!
Looks like a beautiful trip.
Thanks, Kid! It was very peaceful and beautiful!! Hope we can hit the water again soon, bro! Been thinking about our Buffalo River trip!! :-)
@@SouthernPaddler I'm ready for a repeat on that one.
@alabamafloats Heck yeah!!! 💯👍🛶
Dan it would be awesome if you could make a video of the places you've been there put in take out miles if there's a outfitter ect. That be cool I'd love to try do some of they , just a thought, have a great day brother..
Thanks Steve! Yes, I sometimes forget to share some of the details. I get caught up in the trip...lol! We used Black Creek Canoe Rental for this trip. They have several different trip lengths to choose from and they know this creek well and will keep you informed and safe!!
Grew up on that creek. Great video. Where are you from? You said "Missippi" like a native!😊
Ha, ha- thanks, Charles! Born and raised in Decatur, Alabama. Corinth, MS, is about 90 minutes west of me and I've been through there many times! Black Creek is so awesome and I plan on doing this trip again in the next few years!!
I really enjoyed this part of your trip. I’m looking forward to the next episode. What length canoe are you using for your trips? I’ve got a 16 foot canoe and wondered if it would be a good choice for this type of trip.
Thank you very much! Part 2 will come out this Saturday morning. My canoe is a 16 foot and it does great on these trips. With longer boats like that I find that it helps a lot to put as much weight forward as possible to help it track (stay straight) better and it makes you less susceptible to the wind. I like my canoe because it has a seat back and plenty of room for any gear (and a big ice chest) that I might want to bring! :)
Dang near died of hypothermia on black Creek in 1983 when my canoe turned over in January I was young ignorant and not prepared.
Oh wow! I can't imagine being in that water in January!! I've dumped my canoe in January before, but fortunately I was still within eyeshot of my truck and I paddled straight back....and the water was not as cold as Black Creek was.
Be careful.
