- Join me and about 22 others as we takeover the Sipsey River (Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior) in Bankhead National Forest. We paddled 10 miles from the Sipsey Recreation Area to Hwy 33. There's nothing like the Sipsey!!
I was there that day and it was an incredible fun day and perfect day. Will remember that day for a long time. GOOD TIMES....
Hey Garrett- yes, that was an incredible trip!! Sipsey NEVER gets old (well, I'd hate to do it much lower...lol). But it's an amazing place, for sure!!
Awesome video. I love that float. It’s one of those places where it hard to show the majestic beauty in pictures and video. The canyon walls and scenery is amazing. Thanks for sharing. 👍😀✝️
Absolutely!! You just really can't capture this place adequately. Definitely one of my favorite trips!! Preciate it, brother!!
What a beautuíful spot! Amazingly clear water. What I love about your videos is that they are just about having a good day with friends. It's not about being fast, going for incredibly challenging rivers, or having the perfect paddle techniques. It's just about being relaxed and enjoying good company.
Thank you very much, LySan! Yes, each trip is about enjoying those moments- friends, scenery and nature! This really was a great trip!!
Looks like good times!
Thanks, Eric!! This is definitely one of my favorite local paddles. The self-shuttle is a little work, but completely worth it!!
I am in Trussville and sure wood liked to have been on the water with Yall.
That's not too far away! This is a fantastic trip- one of my favorites!!
That log jam looked like a lot of fun!
Lol- it was nothing compared to some you've seen. We had two tight squeezes, but fortunately no portages.
Very pretty run and looks like good clean water
Thank you! Yes, it's all from springs and rain run-off in the National Forest there. It has green tint when it gets deep due to the limestone minerals in it.
I’m paddling this section Tuesday…looking forward to it.
That's awesome, Bob! Is it your first time? With the rain this morning hopefully it will come up. It's just a hair lower now than when we did it a couple of weekends ago. Might be more rain tomorrow. Let me know how it goes, be safe and enjoy!!
@@SouthernPaddler Great day on the Sipsey yesterday…it was a little low, but that part of the world is just beautiful. What a treasure!
@boblandham3789 So glad you had a great trip!! I could not agree more about that place!! 😊💯🛶
Awesome video, brother. The water looks so clear.
Thanks, John! It does have really clear water and is one of my favorite trips!!
You're really getting around paddling different places lately.
Hey Michael! Yes, I've been fortunate to have some really great trips already this year. I'm actually not paddling as much as I did in prior years, but I'm getting to go on some great trips, for sure!
Dan that looked really really fun man. I can see how much fun it was. I wish I could be there for all those fun times man. Nice size group too. Thanks you for sharing this video buddy & have a good weekend buddy.
Hey Mack- Yes, this was one of the bigger groups I paddled with, but we had a great time. Hope you're having a good week, my friend!!
Even with all the down limbs it made for a great paddle, beautiful scenery and good laughs. How long of a paddle was it to that amazing waterfall? Loved it. 🙌🏾👍🏾
Yes, this one can be tricky as you never know what you'll run into. It's up to Mother Nature to keep it cleared...and sometimes she makes it challenging...lol. The waterfall is a little over half-way down on this 10-mile section. The walk to it is probably several hundred yards, but worth it!! Thanks, Lashonda!!
Enjoy your vids so much. Appreciate your efforts. One question and one request. Did you launch above or below bridge. We were there last Sunday and saw you couldn’t cross the bridge. We use to go to other side to put in. The East bank is so steep. My request is you provide details on your kayaks. Thanks again, great films!😮
Thank you very much I appreciate the encouragement!!! We launched below the bridge. Used to we'd go across and launch on the other side of the river (but still downstream of the bridge), but now there's a little patch going down to the river that people use. It's a little steep, but it works fine.
Did it again yesterday with a wee bit more water the Mtn Loral were in full bloom. Yes Mex food afterwards. Take out still SUCKS!
Ba ha ha!! That take out is a BEAST!!! I saw Scott's pictures- that looked like another amazing trip!! What a place!! And Mexican food after a trip like that is a perfect ending!!!
We absolutely love your videos! You pick the best music! Where do you find it if you don’t mind me asking…
Thank you so much for the kind words!! And I'm glad you like the music. Not everyone does, but that's expected as we all have different preferences. I use 2 different royalty free music sites that allow me to use their music without copyright infringement. They are Epidemic Sound and Sound Stripe. Both require monthly fees, but you have unlimited use of their entire libraries of music and sound effects. Some of the same songs are also on Apple Music and other music sites.
Who is the outfitters on the sipsey
None
@rogerhaley1133 is correct. It's a self-shuttle...and it's a little bit of work. But it's a beautiful river!
Hey Dan!! What Outfitter did you use?
Hi Ray- I don't think there are any outfitters on this stretch (or anywhere in Bankhead). We self-shuttled from the Sipsey Recreation Area to where it crosses under Hwy 33. It's about a 10-mile paddle.
