  • Welcome back to another episode of RAC's Corner! In today's episode, Coach RAC Discusses the 3 P's needed to drive the outside pitch with authority!
Hitting the outside pitch is an increasingly rare skill.
Here are the 3 P's needed to drive the outside pitch with authority.
    1. Posture
    2. Path
    3. Point
Posture: Posture allows us to create proper direction through the baseball. It determines what axis our body spins on.
Path: Our bat path will determine how large of a contact window we have, and it also will determine if we can "square up" the outside pitch. If our path is too "out to in" then we will not be able to square up the outside pitch.
Point: There is a common misconception that we must have a contact point behind or on the plate to hit the ball to the opposite field, but this isn't the case. We still need to hit the ball out in front of the plate when we drive the ball to the opposite field.
Bonus tip: To help our path and contact point, we can try hitting the inner half of the baseball. This fixes a lot of issues automatically!
