Amen to that. When our twin toddlers were born 3 years ago, I decided they should be bilingual. And to make it happen, I only speak to them in English day and night while their mother speaks Portuguese with them. And soon enough, they already can speak English and Portuguese -- two languages -- at such a young age. And guess what, we're raising them in Mozambique where they're exposed to many other local languages.
We do the same for our children. We speak English and French, plus orher different local languages.
Many Blessings to your family. Exposure, even as adults, is so helpful with learning languages. I speak Kreyol and a little spanish but my husband only english. Thank GOD it is never to late but earlier is better and I understand and respect This mans message.
Sir, I homeschool 4 young children. You are spot on. Great advice. I get so caught up in thinking Iâm not good enough to teach them xyz and I put off teaching them so much more. I need to get over it and take more action.
1) I will have my 3 year old reading kindergarten books by the end of this summer.
2) My 4 year old will be able to read picture books and write the alphabet by Christmas.
3) My 7 year old is a very advanced reader and I will start her on a second language today.
4) My 9 year old will strengthen spelling skills and we will master long division by Christmas.
I so want them to have and be everything they can be. I will lovingly guide them to reach their potential. We start today. I CAN teach them all these things.
Good for you! But what if they arenât ready to achieve each of those goals by the deadlines youâve set? Your goals should be about allotting time to helping your kids. They will reach their own milestones in their own time. By deqdlining their milestones, youâre creating a scenario where, if they fall behind, they will feel pressured to catch up, and that pressure will hinder the learning process.
@@zakgreenberg1615 these timed goals are for myself. If they donât reach them by the time, I will readjust my method and keep pushing. Of course they grow as they are ready. But Iâm not using my own insecurities as an excuse to procrastinate or limit their abilities. They may also surpass these goals well before the time limit. The point is, I need to stop limiting them.
@@zakgreenberg1615 I should clarify, these timed goals are for me as their teacher. The point is I wonât let my insecurities impede their pace. They may achieve much more than I hoped in this time limit too. I wasnât throwing a gauntlet down saying they must reach these goals, or else. Far from it. They are ready and hungry to learn. I need to rise to the occasion. Thatâs all!
U go mama!!! We can do it
I am so glad l found your page l am teaching my son now and he is reading now
My 2yo knows that if he wants to watch a show on tv, he needs to go over his letter sounds first. Itâs easy⌠we have foam letters which he brings to me, we go over the sounds, I mix them up and have him locate each one by the sound it makes, done â . He knows half his letters already in a month of doing it this way and there is zero stress for either of us! I am so grateful for this channel giving me the idea.
When did you start this? My son is 21 months old, so not quite 2 yet. He has trouble saying words and sounds but understands a lot. I want to be proactive with this stuff but havenât because of his age, naturally. Heâs at the age where I need to start implementing some of these strategies but I donât want to expect more than is reasonable. I just know thereâs a big difference between a toddler thatâs 1y9m and 2y9m.
@@djkb125 oh yeah my son is turning 3 next month. And, he was showing signs of readiness i.e., good expressive and receptive language skills, the ability to focus and the desire to learn. With his older brother it was different, the focus wasnât there and I didnât push reading skills much at all. (I hadnât discovered this channel yet.) When he was nearly 5, my mom who is a former teacher bribed him with lego sets until he could read basic stuff. He picked up the rest from video games đ . Heâs reading well above his grade level now. Maybe part of the reason my younger boy is so cooperative is that he sees his brother has to do some things also before he turns on the tv-read a book, do some math drills, exercise, etc.
This is all to say, I think the main thing is to keep it fun for your kid and donât worry about missing a window of time with learning-what might take them a year at 2 can take only a month at 4 or 5. If you are an attentive and loving parent, your child will do fine.
@@lagoya â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ Thank you for that insight. I want to follow his readiness lead while still not neglecting these important things. It sounds like your toddlers are thriving. I just need to be patient and know weâll work together when the time comes. I can start adding more Spanish at home now though!!
My daughter is 5 and she can barely speak my native language... I am killing myself over it!! I am so happy I found your channel!
Thank you for this message. I will share it with my grandaughter so that she can help her 5 yr old son.
That was GOD that sent you with this message. I brought your program for my 9 month old, 3 and 5 year old about 5 month ago have not started. I am grateful for your message. Thank you GOD. Your testimony is relatable and accountable is what many humans lack.
Wow I needed this.
Letâs go!! The exact video I needed to hear today! I Appreciate it !!
Progress not perfection
When we say we donât have time what we are really saying is âI donât know how to start and I think itâs going to hardâ ~ wow so so true, needed to hear thatâ¤ď¸ beautiful video so grateful
Wow, thank you so much! It's just exactly what I needed to hear. I am overwhelmed with opportunities. There's no lack of information on how to teach your child (I am very grateful for that), no lack of material like games, markers, playdough etc. But I feel that I as a parent have become a bottle neck. I feel stuck, lack of energy, unable to organize and motivate a child. Thank you so much for your advice! It seems exactly what I needed.
Thank You so much for the encouragement. I needed to hear this! I'm on it! I'm committed!
You're welcome! You've got this!
Thank you. Im from srilanka. I love your tricks. Every time i use it for my baby. Yes its work... like jumping to the letter sound. Thats great idea. Thank you

Thank you
What I want for my grandson is for him to be able to control his emotions, frustration and anger so that he is able to communicate better.
Excellent advice!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much for the video, It was definitely an eye opener. I want my son to be so many things, but I wasn't putting any work towards it because of my own fears. Imma try the five minute a day thing every morning and see if this works. I've been trying random times throughout our day with just the letters A-D and I haven't gotten him to understand it yet. I'm not going to give up though.
You got this! And my free workshop will help you with those reading skills, check it out! www.toddlersread.com/free-workshop
