That line... "These here my daddy' tools..." One of the true perfect lines of dialogue in any movie or show I've ever seen. I'm really happy for him that he felt that it was his favorite scene! The world is a little lesser place, now that he is no longer a part of it. But his legacy lives on

One of the best TV series ever made.
The shows been over for almost 10 years and I think people have forgotten how amazing of a show this was. I think this show should be in the same conversation as shows like Breaking Bad, the Sopranos and Game of Thrones.

The actor that played Narcisse was absolutely brilliant

The writers, directors and production crew made them unbelievable.
This is THE most underrated television show in the history of television. You can't convince me otherwise.
Its far better than anything on TV, but on par with HBO's best shows. It's amazing.

Best show HBO ever did too bad there wasn't a season six so Arnold Rothstein had his story end with his own death scene. I've watched it five times from start to finish.

It bothers the HELL out of me that HBO never put out a glorious, glossy, hardbacked celebration book for Boardwalk Empire! Like they did with The Sopranos. Multiple books for The Sopranos in fact. Come on, how nice would it have been to have a book with 1920's fashion shots, feature length interviews with cast and crew and detailed shots of the sets. They couldn't even be bothered to knock one up - for all the awards the show earned. Not cool.

I love this show so much my Husband and I binged watched twice. Every actor was magnificent, the costumes were so period and right on. The last show made me so sad, because it ended.
One of the most underrated shows ever created - it's easily on the same level as Sopranos. Richard Harrow, Jimmy, Nucky, Al Capone, Gyp Rosetti, Masseria, Lucky and Lansky and especially Arnold Rothstein - the amount of clips I've watched from this show matches Borko for sure.
Another great show from the golden age of HBO.

I still don’t understand why they gave Rothstein an off camera death..there is a lot of mystery behind his death...could of made for an interesting twist in the show

In real life he died in a poker game in 1928. The last season took place in 1933. They couldn't actually show his death if that were the case
The only thing is I believe his death wasn’t really caused by any of the major characters in the show and since he’s a historical character they couldn’t deviate

An outstanding cast overall but Paul Sparks totally blew me away by not looking or sounding like Mickey Doyle at all. Talk about two totally different people.

finished it last year or late 2022? perfect show. Yes yes i even liked the last season. Being far removed from it because i didnt watch it when it came out and not knowing the drama behind the scenes it really was a great series. I wish we got more shows like it.

@@saint_gales Is that still a rumor? Winter said a long time ago that it was a conscious solution, they did it only earlier than planned. Someone involved in the production said Pitt was late and forgot the lines, but can you trust those things too?

I hated when they got rid of Michael. They tried to replace him but it never was the same. They should have made Michael Pitt the main character bc the main character was definitely not a mobster lol he sucked! He was boring, not attractive and it’s hard to take him seriously when he has already done tons of other silly roles in Hollywood.
But this show despite this major fault, was great! The last two seasons were pretty boring, but it’s great television. I just would have casted another actor for sure for the main character. Michael Pitt was the loved one, charismatic, attractive, great actor…….. should have kept him. Bc it’s ppl like him that make it to the top, this is the biggest trick of them all, entrusting in someone who is really a monster but looking at the cover or mask instead of the book or face.

Last season was not a good season disappointing
I keep hearing this. It was a perfectly rounded and fleshed out season. From start to finish. It was sublime. BUT it should have been Season Eight or Nine. It should have come so much later. There was so much rich material to mine in those lost years. But I love Season Five.
all it's acts would've been stretched out through more seasons, but they just didn't get more screentime
