It's a shame that John Goodman and Steve Buscemi have never been nominated for an Oscar. Two great actors and Bridges is legendary.
I didn’t realize, never even been nominated?! Two of the best actors ever. Anytime I see that either one is in a film, I know it will be worth a look because those guys (and Bridges) are always interesting to watch and elevate whatever they are in.

@@herr5262 Which reinforces one of the rules of nature that I think explains so much about political science and culture: most people are stupid! But I was also talking about just those 2 actors in general. Buscemi and Goodman are two of my favorite actors ever. If I see their name on a film (with the exception of extended toy commercials masquerading as movies, i.e., Transformers) I always give it a look because they can make anything interesting. They are also great actors because unlike a lot of actors, they can play all sorts of different characters. BTW, you probably know this but Big Lebowski is (among other things) an adaptation of scenes and characters from Raymond Chandler's novels like The Big Sleep with The Dude as Philip Marlow.

I remember taking my dad to see "The Big Lebowski." He didn't really want to go. All the folks at the senior center had told him it was awful, with lot's of swearing. I never heard him laugh so loud, laugh all the way through. For my old man, the dude abides.

You could tell that these are a bunch of good guys, humble and reminiscing the days. The interviewer is interested in the topic itself and he has let the guys just talk and laugh. Lovely interview
I was a child ( 10 yrs. old ) the first time I saw Jeff Bridges . It was the 1976 version of King Kong. That man has literally been in movies through out my entire life. I think of him and certain musicians as people that have " raised me". That's is, I feel like they've always been a presence in my life. I'm 56 now and feel fortunate to have seen a lot of his work. He is truly a actors actor and an marvel to watch.
I pray you've seen "The Morning After" with Jane Fonda. It's a brilliant film in and of itself, and it's just incredible to see Jeff and his methods onscreen.
I'm having a really hard time adjusting to Thin John Goodman.

Why Jeff Bridges played the Dude so well?
He didn't play it. He is the Dude!
Jeffrey Lebowski is like him and Jeffrey "Dude" Dowd (the real life inspiration for the character) fused together.
Joel and Ethen wrote the Lebowski character exactly with Bridges in mind to play him. There was no one else. They had met Jeff Bridges and knew how he was. The Lebowski character WAS Jeff, albeit slightly exaggerated. If Bridges doesn't agree to do the film, there is no film.

Buscemi is such a humble guy. This was a really minor role for him but he’s completely fine letting the others be front and centre when talking about the movie

Sometimes at work, i will just play the movie on my phone at work, so me and my coworkers can just listen to the whole movie. We ALWAYS find a new part of the movie to laugh at everytime, along with quoting as much as we can
Finally rewatched this film after 20 years. Saw it back in 11th grade in '00 and didn't quite get it. Watched it four times yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it this time around. A highly recommended watch🙌
The theory that Donny is a ghost that follows Walter around is brilliant. It really ties the characters together.
The scene with the ashes wouldn't make any sense that way, though...

Good point in comments about the ashes dashing this theory. Bridges also makes a good point that Dude sort of passively plays along with Walter’s Donny/imagination. The throw-away, “Thank you Donn.”!!

To see John, Jeff, and Steve sit around quoting lines and laughing, like how I do with my friends, it's a special moment and feeling.
All art inspires debate. But great art, defines it. You could talk about this movie till the cows come home. And then afterwards you'd still think to yourself, 'oh I can't believe we never mentioned that bit'.
John Goodman is really a brilliant movie buff with his memory of characters and lines from old movies. Very impressive. All of them are great. Such a great retrospective.
These three actors are a national treasure. Absolutely love all three.
Me and a buddy happened to both be off of work due to a winter storm. We decided to go see TBL. Walking in, we thought it was a bowling movie. Walking out, we had no idea what it was that we had seen, but we knew it was something. Over the years we must have re-watched it 40 times and we never ceased quoting lines from the film. My friend is gone now, but I'll never forget that snow day and will always smile when I see any scene from this great movie.
This sounds like the outro to Stand By Me.

If you have not seen the big Lebowski watch it. Even if you don’t like bowling. It’s really even not about bowling, it’s just a really good story and a good comedy. One of the best films in film history

Definitely one of the best comedies of all time! These guys have chemistry even off the set; lends to how successful the movie was.
I love that they also love this movie. It always feels a bit of a shame when actors kind of don't want to talk about their work or just treat it like a job, and its great to see these guys also experience how special this movie was (for them and the fans). (and im glad the guy doing this interview is a fan of the movie as well because it really helps make the interview even better)

John Goodman is the rare actor who, no matter what I’ve seen him in, is always magnificent. I can not think of a single performance he’s done that wasn’t perfectly entertaining. As a supporting character actor, he outshines the majority of leading actors he’s placed alongside. I hope he lives for decades more.

Defiantly a huge fan of this movie. Probably my favorite. Most re-watchable film i know. Amazing dialog and amazing acting from an amazing cast.
My favorite scene is when he buys a $0.69 carton of milk with a check post dated 1 year from the date. Every scene is gold.

Isn't it? It gives me goosebumps to this day, almost like a religious experience. Sure, the Cohens wrote and directed the movie, but getting the perfect cast together, and having everything fall into place the way it did - i don't know. It feels like a conspiracy of the highest order. It's a phenomenon, beyond the power of mere mortals.

@@beingjohn392 Nobody expects or wants them to do a sequel. Them doing a reunion/reminiscent about one of their best roles is fine. Boardwalk Empire is Buscemi's most iconic role but the other two it's arguable this is main roles.

It took me 2 or 3 viewings to catch that (I’m not the sharpest), but it became one of my favourite scenes.
The dudes hair moving in the wind with that look on his face is what gets me the most.

The thing I really love about the film is the astonishing detail which makes it possible to watch and rewatch and still find new things to enjoy. The way the story vaguely resolves but not in the typical clear cut way. Genius stuff.
