@@kieran8584 Maybe. Maybe not. Van der Saar was a phenomenal keeper, but he came to Juve at the worst possible time and he didn't really convince with his performances. Often, due to simply bad luck. Lots of things went wrong for him at Juve. Then, it's not like they signed Pagliuca. Buffon was already the best on the planet

The reason Juventus signed Buffon was that Van der Saar wasnt performing really well at the end of his stint there. Why do you think he went to Fulham and no other good club in Europe wanted him.
At Fulham he started to perform on his Level again but before he wasnt himself anymore.
I wish United signed him there and than and that Van Der Saar didn’t have those years at Fulham. What a fantastic keeper he was. Very accurate with his long range kicking something that was never really valued back than. Wonderful player.

So in 2001, Van der Sar spilled a shot from long distance and Montella was right there to put it in to tie what was ultimately the league-deciding match that gave Roma the title. Juve felt Van der Sar was at fault for losing the league and that they had to replace him with Buffon.
To Juve's credit, they had gone 3 years without a league title and proceeded to win 4 of the next 5 (until 2005 & 06 were stripped due to Calciopoli)
No, Roma winning their final game 3-1 against Parma gave them the title. Also being unbeaten at home compared to Juve's one home loss. Both games Roma v Juve were draws.

I'm saying that the Juve match, if Juve won that match, *which they didn't because Van Der Sar spilled the ball and Montella put it away late* they would've ended the season finishing ahead of Roma by a point, winning the league but since Roma salvaged the draw, Roma ended up winning the league by 2 points in the end.
With the victory, Juve +2 pts and Roma -1 point from how they finished. That's why I said it was *ultimately* the league deciding match.

Buffon played his first game in serie A in 94' against Milan with Weah and Baggio saving everything and then made clean sheet record(920 something minutes) 21 years later at like 39 years old. It was good up until it's last game, it was the record man for games played in serie A. World champion, went to Serie B right after that.
Buffon is the kind of guy people will always have in mind when talking about the best keeper ever and is going to be like this for like a century, no joke.

20mill is peanuts in todays market and Ramsdale is a super young keeper in an extremely competitive side. He needs to turn this into a tool to grow and iron his game out on the training pitch.
The price tag shows the Arsenal got a good deal,they would’ve payed more if they had too.And Artetas comments on the situation show what’s gonna happen.Ramsdale will be either second keeper or gone next summer.

Not even comparable situations, Raya was signed on loan first of all, he’s also there to compete, not replace Ramsdale, if Ramsdale doesn’t want to compete and feels that his spot in the starting 11 should just be handed to him then he can leave, shows he’s not hungry enough to improve and become the level we need him to become if we want to win a prem or UCL

Van ser saar did quite a lot of mistakes when he playied for juve.
Van der sar one of my favourite goalies of all time. That guy was a wall
I do remember Van Der Sar saying in interview that Italy, Italian football and coaching broke him as a player and he needed to be rebuilt slowly as a player
Definitely a huge upgrade, but still not sure why they'd be looking for other goalies with him in net 😄
And Edwin went on to become one of united greatest ever gk and winning the champions league and numerous tittles and cups

Lots of inaccuracies in this video. Van der Saar was not doing well at all at Juve and did not win any league title. In fact, he was blamed as one of the main reasons behind Juve's failure to win. Hence Juve's decision to sign Buffon and solve the GK problem. BTW Buffon was signed for 105 BN lira, around 54 Million Euro, not 40.
