Testicular cancer survivor here. I was diagnosed on my 22nd birthday in July of 2018 but I have been cancer free since April of 2019! I cannot stress enough to get yourself checked ASAP after you notice something out of the ordinary. If you wait, it will just mean more chemo or other treatment down the road. Catch it early and don’t be afraid or embarrassed to go to the doctor and tell your family/friends. It’s nothing to be ashamed of

Hexon even if you are unfortunate like I was and it is indeed cancer, testicular cancer is one of the most treatable cancers that exists so you will most likely be okay! A very very high success rate at getting rid of it, even at advanced stages so that’s reassuring

This video was such a wake up call for me to go get checked. I had a hard lump on my right testicle that I had noticed for quite some time, years even, but I was too scared to go to the doctor. I had constant anxiety, like a black cloud that was constantly following me. I finally decided to go to the doctor to get some peace of mind and luckily it turned out to be some kind of cyst. Moral of the story, go get checked out, it could be something serious or nothing at all!

I learned so much from this doctor. I think my first health scare regarding this started way back in high-school when I took Sex Ed. I remember finding a lump on my left testicle in the shower and freaking out until I finally went in and got checked out. As it turns out that lump was no other Than a cest. Than way back in 2012 I had a really bad groin injury which resulted in a hydrocele on my right testicle, so I would get checked out year after year until, I learned to just chill out. Take care of your balls fellas.

This video is excellent and makes me feel much better about my prognosis. Currently recovering from orchiectomy (1 week ago). It happens fast. Found a ~1" hard/firm lump on right testicle and immediately when to doctor for check up 5 days later. 10 days after that I was in OR for surgery. To any guys that are concerned about what they may have go immediately and get checked. Hard firm lumps in/on testicles are nothing to play with and nothing to be ashamed of. Don't wait, if it's cancerous it won't get better on it's own and the sooner you get treated the less likely you are to need additional surgery and chemotherapy. I should have been doing a better job of checking myself monthly, I just noticed a different sensation than normal and checked myself out.

Stage IIB mixed germ cell tumor survivor here. Had my orchiectomy in late July 2022, went through EP chemo from August through October, and I go in for Post-Chemo RPLND surgery next Friday for what will hopefully be the last action we take to treat my case of this illness. I think it's important to reiterate what Dr. Litwin says here: if you have testicles, start your self exams immediately. If you notice any changes, seek out your primary care doctor for an exam, at the very least, and even ask for a referral to a urologist. Do not self-diagnose and do not wait until you present with secondary symptoms.
I noticed a right-sided varicocele back in late 2020 and got an all-clear from an ultrasound in early 2021. Over the course of the following year and a half, I noticed changes in the size, firmness, and shape of my right testis. Rather than follow back up with my doctor, I trusted the earlier ultrasound rather than my understanding of how my own body felt. Cut to April 2022, when I was rushed to the ER with excruciating pain and localized infection, uncommon symptoms. After three months of antibiotics, poor ultrasound image quality due to inflammation, incorrect differential diagnoses, and a second opinion, I was finally diagnosed with TC at Memorial Sloan Kettering and began receiving proper treatment an excellent care.
Don't wait. Cop a feel and seek medical attention if you notice anything changing.

Yesterday learned I'm a stage II patient because it hasn't quiet made its way to my lymph nodes (we hope) but its penetrated the channel within the testicular cord which means its on its way if its not there already. I'm in between chemotherapy and lymph node removal but leaning towards removal. If you act fast, you have more options.

Hello, I'm a 21 year old male and my left testicle is significantly smaller than the right one. To put it in perspective my left one is like the size of a grape and my right one is a little less than the size of an egg. Did further self examination, and I have determined that my left testicle hasn't descended yet either. it's feel like its attached to some sort of cord near the top of my groin area that's not letting it drop down and am not sure if that has to do with anything. I also feel like there's a small bubble/ fluid like sac that's around my left testicle. I did some research and I don't think I have testicular cancer or anything concerning like that. However, I was wondering if there’s any sort of medical treatment or surgery for my left testicle to return to normal size? Please let me know if any of you have any information on this and what my first steps should be. I'm planning on see my personal physician and possibly a urologist after this coronavirus bullshit ends. Thank you!

I would NEVER advise anyone to have the lymph node dissection if the AFP and HGC markers are negative after the orchiectomy. I had a foot long scar from the operation and after months of investigation and angiography the surgeon clipped my renal artery during the surgery. 26 years later I’m still on daily antihypertensive meds. Also there is a risk of permanent impotence and retrograde ejaculation permanently.

I’m sorry that happened to you. However I don’t think it’s responsible to discourage others from having that surgery, especially if they’re in a situation where medical professionals are telling them it’s the right thing to do. I also had the surgery, and I have the scar (though It doesn’t bother me cause it shows I’m a badass and it’s kinda cool too), and I didn’t have those complications from the surgery. With any surgery there is risk involved, even with something as simple as getting your wisdom teeth removed. It sounds like it was the fault of your particular surgeon. Luckily people have the option to do the less invasive robot surgery with smaller hole scars if they want. I chose the old fashioned way cause there was a much higher success rate of getting rid of the cancer that way. Again I’m sorry that happened to you and I wish you all the best.

As a very experienced medical oncologist in germ cell tumor, I have to say that Dr Litwin has not presented a very "fair and balanced" viewpoint regarding surgical management of early stage disease and the "risk" of active surveillance. The data repeatedly show that active surveillance is safe and effective management of early stage seminoma or non‐seminoma and in most cases primary RPLND represents over treatment. In the US and around the world, active surveillance is the preferred management strategy for most early stage patients. Dr Litwin is promoting his own world view not a consensus of experts.

If it's not part of your testicle, it will be harmless. I've had quite a few visits to the doctors over the years with testicle pain, the latest was ultra sound this morning due to at least 10 weeks of almost daily ache or pain - turned out to be a varicose vein in (unusually my right testicle) I've also had epididimytis, an infection in my "sperm tube" that took 2 courses of antibiotics to clear up. I've also had a cyst, although this was about 20 years ago.
All of these harmless problems had very worrying symptoms ie pain, swelling, back pain, groin pain, abdominal pain. There are also tubes that attach to the top of the testicles, that when I feel them, it feels like lumps that are attached the testicles but they're not.
I just wanted to come on here to reassure people who are as worried as I was!
