I would say much more costly. This was a high-dollar renovation. I don't see why they didn't just build a new house.

I loved the first Reno...BUT THIS!.... took my breath away... I loooooove it
Very nice update! The old house was beautiful but outdated. The current one is way more stylish. I’m loving the reversed layout, bedrooms on ground floor and kitchen in the upper floor. Also the height ceiling for the kitchen really makes the space looks magnificent.
It was pretty before, but looks A LOT more liveable now. The mix of midcentury modern touches with natural elements turned out amazing!

Her original house was something most people can envision for their home, especially in Vancouver.
This new house in terms of design is very unique and with its vaulted ceilings and massive open space. This new renovation became another dream home that most can't afford in Vancouver.
It is very beautiful though.
I love how the art pieces and the chandelier in dining area play off each other.

Same here, loved the old one. It had something in it. I just saw it and immediately fell in love. And the new one? Oh my... Amazing! Sophisticated and nicely decorated.
Lovely!! She is right the house looks more comfy and sophisticated. The coffee table, the lamp, the dinner table and the art hanging behind are gorgeous.
There's a warmth and openness to the new design and suddenly the old design seems much more dated by comparison, which is so odd because the old design was decent. I suppose it may also have something to do with the trends like stenciled images/stickers on the wall in the old kid's bedrooms - that definitely seems like a thing of the past and almost tacky nowadays (I especially dislike the stickers with quotes on them like "Love resides here" or some other equally cheesy phrase). The artwork in the rooms instead and simplicity of the new design definitely kicks things up a notch. Also, the door leading to the patio and following in the same colour palette is glorious. Overall, really like the upgrades!

Even the dog looks newer and brighter 😊. It does make alot of sense to live in the larger volume space on the second floor. Lovely.
Love the way the house turned out! Not many people reverse the daytime-nighttime levels in a home, but I think it’s so worth it when you have a view! Great job!

Grew up in a house where the bedrooms where on the first floor, and with the kitchen, dining and living room was on the second floor. It was never a problem!

Their house before was very popular because it hits home... the decor ... simple furnitures and cabinetry... its something that regular viewers with limited budget can say, "Oh we can do or have that"... unlike the other houses where its complicated and extravagant that it almost out of this world.

I love this. We are selling our house right now and I am also focused on the minimalistic look. Some people don't appreciate it. To me, it's so airy and it makes the house feel bigger than it is. I also liked your previous look, but I like this better. Very nice.

I love your previous home, but now I really love your newly renovated home more and more. I love the natural elements you added into the new home, such as the wooden console table, dinning table and the headboard...... also the golden color of light, coffee table, accessories......etc, genuinely bring into more warm and cozy then before in grey and white tone only. Particularly I really love the skylight of your kitchen, living and dinning area, it's really make the home more well-lit, open and airy, extremely stunning and harmony at all! Eventually I love your entrance with the closet too~ It's turn out more functional, user friendly, and more privacy~ 😍

In order to save my money . I will definitely renovate once . I will make sure that the design and furniture are classic, timeless, durable and of course easy to clean and maintain. I will not choose furniture just because it’s trend but has to be comfortable.
I actually painted the inside of my front door yellow after seeing that video. I didn't like it though at the end because the wall adjacent to it was blue, so it ended up looking like a kinder garden.

Good gracious, I remember this. Has it been 6 years? : - O Noway.. oh my GOSH. Well, I liked it before and like it now. The idea of open kitchen/living area stayed, just went up a storey. Now every time you have to run out somewhere or do shopping, you must climb. The high ceiling is superb and the outer space is perfection. Serene & inviting. Just like before... Me likey! xx..
Ps. I remember buying yellow flowers after seeing this. I liked those yellow touches. Just a hint, was perfect... oh ja, what did they do downstairs then? Now we need another update. Haha!

Awww...we get to revisit a beloved home that has gotten yet another update! Thanks for thinking of us. I am curious why the house wasn't turned into a four-bedroom home. Also not feeling the kitchen and living room upstairs. I understand why it was done, but it is a bit odd. So now when u enter the house everyone enters on the bedroom level? The previous house was so popular bc it resonated w/most budgets, s/f, and it was a realistic looking home.

Omgoodness this home had the comments section divided. I couldn't deal with having bedrooms on the first floor and my daughter's room right next door but I definitely see the value in what they decided
This surpasses the other design... great use of the spaces and reconfiguring the traditional areas ....👍....yes the old layout caused a stir as the kids were in basement and the use of the yellow door.
