  • Along with aloo pie, saheena, pholourie, baiganee and doubles, Kachori is another popular street food, snack, appetizer or breakfast, that’s vegan, high in protein and fiber and can be gluten free. It is traditionally served with chutney, raw mango chutney, boiled mango chutney, tamarind chutney or kuchela. It was brought to Trinidad by our Indian ancestors, many of whom came to work as indentured laborers in the sugar cane fields between 1845 to 1917. Today I will share my personal recipe and tips to help you make some delicious kachoris.

    I've never seen Kachori made this way. My mother and I always grind boiled dal, bhandania, garlic, and pepper in a mill. Then, we add flour, water, salt, and a little bit of baking powder and mix up to form the batter. This way looks easier though lol. I will have to give it a try.

    Would advise using a potato peeler to peel any hard fruit or veg. Save on the cuts and bruises that can otherwise occur. But that looks so amazing I going to try the Gluten Free version soon!!!!

    • @CookingWithRia
      @CookingWithRia  Před 2 lety +1

      Of course. Excuse the apparent barbarism here. Did not intend to film so no preparation whatsoever-and then in the haste couldn’t find the peeler or pairing knife I use to peel. Kitchen reality! 😃👍Thanks!

    How much yeast would be needed for this recipe?

    • @CookingWithRia
      @CookingWithRia  Před 2 lety

      About 1/4 tsp and use lukewarm water. Don’t like anything too yeasty.

      @@CookingWithRia Regular table salt. I made it again two days ago and I used 1/2 tsp salt and it was just right. I used this recipe for bhaganie according to your other video and it was delicious and super easy.... Split peas powder is a great replacement for the ground up split peas. Keep up the good work.
