- ►Replacing your transmission fluid and filter is the best way to ensure it stays trouble-free throughout your ownership. The fluid will lose some of its hydraulic and protective properties through thousands of miles of use, increasing strain on every other internal component. Eventually, solenoids can clog, and bands can slip, leaving you without a functioning transmission. VW specifies an 80,000-mile interval for the fluid, but we, and most independent shops, believe that a 50,000-mile interval is far more beneficial.
Replacing the transmission fluid on the MQB-chassis Volkswagens is fairly similar to most modern automatics. That means that the drain and fill have to take place while the transmission is at a certain temperature. It's a little involved and needs to be done properly, so we're here to show you how.
In this video, FCP Euro's Professional DIYer, Mike Hidalgo, replaces the transmission fluid and filter on an MQB Volkswagen Atlas.

The belly pan has 3 T45 bolts that are in the center of the pan, and about 12 or so T25 bolts around the perimeter of the belly pan

Thank You!
Welcome :)
Do you guys can recommend a shop to do this?
I keep rewinding to 17:18 LMAO its not gonna fill it up in two seconds 😂
my dealership hooks up a machine and pumps new fluid through the transmission they do not drop the pan is this good or bad my wifes 2018 atlas has 52k miles on it
When you go thru the gears are the wheels moving? Or are they not moving and ebrake still on? Asking because I was thinking of doing this job on 4 ramps and no real lift.
Foot on brakes. Wheels not moving.
Does this also work on the 2018 Tiguan mqb ? Thanks for the video
Different generation, but my 2012 Tiguan was the same process.
As long as it is equipped with the same Aisin 8 speed!
Does anyone happen to know of a cheaper Autel scanner that reads trans temps & haldex system?
The cost of the scanner is the only thing holding me back from doing these services myself.
If it's over 85F outside, you can do it cold. The window for this 30 to 40C.
OBDeleven pro. It’s really affordable for an advanced diagnostic tool, and it is incredibly useful for anything vw/Audi.
Love my Tiguan but good lord this is the type of stuff that makes me miss my Honda.. a simple drain and fill in 15 minutes and the transmission is serviced lol.
There's no reason for there not to be a fill plug or a dipstick.
And the STEALER tells me that this is lifetime fluid. NO SHIT!!!
Owners manual states to do trans service at 80k, which is a long time to wait. Dealers often only care about selling cars and then it’s your problem after that unfortunately.
