  • Answering the most common questions I get about ‪@ForcedInductionInterchillers‬ . This modification is your best insurance against high-charge temps. The recovery on this is also very fast. I go over many things from the installation difficulty to the entire cost. This was installed on my 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport with a VR30DDTT in my garage as a backyard youtube mechanic 😅
    The best and highest degree cooling mod you can ever do to any air 2 water system.

      it would be wise to note that if you turn the a/c off or if the compressor fails, you have no way to cool the charge air. You will run in to problems extremely quick. Retaining a HX is a good fail safe and only requires a gate valve to bypass for normal operation.

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před 2 lety

      My compressor is always on and if one day it does fail I can swap out the compressor. I’m honestly not too worried. If my charge temps are ever 100* degrees my phone flashes and I just won’t step on it until I fix the situation if one ever occurs.
      But yea a bypass valve operated by temp switch of some sort would work flawlessly with a HX. If it gets to specific temp it can open or close. A manual one or a switch in the cabin can work too.

      there is no full kit that doesnt require welding?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m not entirely sure, but it’s really not that hard to get those lines off. That’s the easiest part of the whole install.
      If you also think about it it’s cheaper to weld the lines than getting new lines already welded. Still would be nice to see as an option to make it more of a bolt on mod.

      This video was a great overview. Can you detail the routing of AC vs coolant lines, including diameter of both lines with a close up look at the thermal expansion valve connection and the weld job. I may have missed it, but what software/app are you using to get phone notification of system failure?

    Zilla, great job with your system and explaining those details. I agree also on the hoses (braided vs no braided). I have them braided as well.
    On my case I did the stage 2 on my Saleen here in Fla, but I’m a mechanic (I did everything alone). But stage 2 is a different animal as you need to get into the weeds a bit deeper on the AC system. However I Got a great deal of help from the Interchiller owner directly. I’ll tell you the Interchiller owner is just super smart, very responsive and knows about what works and what doesn’t and what gives you the best results. His name is Kirk. I used previously the killer chiller for about 5 yrs and it doesn’t compare to the Interchiller. The Interchiller system is not only a great unit, their level or quality responsiveness and customer support is top notch! As for the pump, it needs to be connected directly (no controls!), that way it provides the max flow to the system. My water Temps leaving the Interchiller unit back to the S/C are in single digits F!
    Cheers!

    Since you're not using a drag valve; it splits cooling to chiller and cabin at all times. Does this mean you have to have the AC in the ON position at all times to cool through the chiller?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před rokem +2

      I do have the drag valve. It comes standard with the system.
      The AC is on at all time whether on drag mode or not. I live in FL where 90% of the time it’s hot. When it’s cold I just adjust the temperature setting in the cabin.

    Just had one of these installed on my car with the valve so I could keep heat exchanger. I'm still learning about the system, my question is do you have to turn on the AC for the Interchiller to work or does it automatically turn on? My iat aren't dropping by a ton yet due to needing a bigger reservoir.

    what happens if you run your hvac system on heater with the ac on? does it still work or does it give a negative effect to the interchiller system?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před rokem

      It won’t really cool, but chances are if you need the heater in your car your charge temps will be cool already.
      You can’t just cycle through drag mode on and heater if need be.

    • @darbet83
      @darbet83 Před měsícem

      In theory it will work the same for the interchiller . If you have A/C on for the cabin. it is on for the interchiller . The heat comes from the hot engine coolant . You might need to put the A/C in defrost mode to stop it cycling off

      The ultimate cooling mod is a chiller. Not one person can argue against that. I’m always 20-30 degree below ambient and I only have a stage 1.
      If there is one company constantly showing data it’s FI Interchillers on the daily. Results speak for themselves

    I don’t understand how it cools your charge pipe…I have a twin turbo car with an oversized FM intercooler. Most of the details I get, but how is it cooling the air in the system?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před rokem +1

      I have Air 2 water Intercoolers. So it uses coolant as a cooling medium to cool the IC’s over just air like a Air2Air IC.
      Normally that means you have a front mount heat exchanger that gets ambient air to pass through and cool the coolant that circulates through the intercoolers.
      I basically replace the heat exchanger with the chiller which now uses Freon to chill the fluid instead of just air.
      That chilled fluid now circulates through my IC’s.

    This or air to air?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před 2 lety +1

      Air to air will never be get better temps than ambient.
      A2W is superior. There is a reason all the true drag cars switch to A2W.

  • @OxBlitzkriegxO
    @OxBlitzkriegxO Před rokem

    why did you remove the crash bar and use flat stock instead? was there an issue with radiator/condenser airflow? where did you source the hoses?
    if you had it to do over again, what would do differently?

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Před rokem +1

      For weight purposes. It was fine with the crash bar. I got the hoses from alibaba, but Amazon has them there as well.
      If I had to do it all over again I’d route the system differently using an aftermarket CWA400 pump on a Temp Hobb Switch that way I have more control of the temps.

    • @OxBlitzkriegxO
      @OxBlitzkriegxO Před rokem +1

      @@ZillaFullBoost what did you have to do for refrigerant? you mentioned that maybe it was under or overcharged.
      did FI give you the fill amount for their unit to add to the oem system? their weight plus factory weight should get you close and then you can monitor superheat to optimize it.
      what are your temps now days since the system was optimized?

      You can try meth first since it’s more affordable, but this will be a better option. Meth seems as if it cools a lot but in reality it’s really cooling the sensor more than anything. You can find a good read here fiinterchillers.com/tech_articles/meth-vs-ice-box-vs-interchiller/
