    The other day, I was feeling the end of the year blues and rememebered that I started seeing my therapist 10 years ago. I still don't like winter but hope something in this video resonates with you. Take care!

    Yoojin I am so moved and so proud to hear you talk about your journey with such honesty. I was always top of my class and am used to the image of being a do-it-all person. While in other people’s eyes I am somewhat perfect and always at my best, I struggle with anxiety a lot and I blame myself for the smallest things. I started talking to a therapist as well last year and it was the best thing I did for my myself! It didn’t completely resolve my problem or make my anxiety go away but it makes me more at peace and aware of my emotions. And I completely agree that mental health should be prioritized above anything. I cheer for your journey and thank you for making this video. It means a lot to me ❤❤

      Hey Wendy. Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts and journey. I'm happy to hear that you found a therapist who helps you think through your emotions :) Yeah, I feel you on trying to appear 'you have it all' - I kind of come to terms that the little perfectionist in me will struggle with that mindset but that's okay. I'm still learning. Stay warm and healthy wherever you are! 💚💙

    @all4yoojin I don't know why, but while I watched your video, I felt like we were sitting together in the kitchen together. probably because you seem to me a very kind and bright person. thank you very much for the reminder to finally start therapy, which I have been putting off for more than a year. I live in Kyiv and my country Ukraine, as you may know, has been a full-scale war for almost 2 years. this video helped me to finally make a decision. Yoojin, thank you for your openness and motivation!

      Kateryna, I hope this message finds you safe and well. Your comment truly touched my heart. It's special to hear that my video made you feel like we were just sharing a moment together. That's the kind of warmth and connection I always hope to bring. I'm incredibly proud of you for deciding to start therapy, especially considering the challenging circumstances in Kyiv and Ukraine. It's a brave and vital step towards taking care of your mental health. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing your thoughts. Stay strong and safe, and know that I'm here, supporting you on your journey!

    Thank you for this video. I have been attending therapy for 6 years now, struggling with OCD and BPD, and it helped me through my darkest moments, making the depressed emotional wreck I was into a somewhat functioning adult, who is happy to be alive. Therapy saves lives, and we need people like you to normalise it.

    You went deep this time. Wow, somehow I’m proud of you. Being able to be so transparent, not something I’m bad at yet not good neither. Wish our parents generations also had this knowledge more accesible way before.

      Thank you, Tay 😭 This one was kinda hard to make but I'm glad I got it out. I feel like our parents generations are changing too! My mom is more accepting of therapy more than she was when I first started. She still tells me that I need more friends hehe

    Woah, thankyou for sharing your journey, yoojin! I never find a story from people around me or youtube about someone going to a therapist for many years, so it's amazing how you did it persistently. I lived in a rural area in Indonesia where seeking a therapist is also not common/taboo, well it's much better now in the big city but still- it's so rare in my city, so the korean stigma about this felt relatable to me. Especially how the Asian parents still don't get it why do we need therapy 😭🖐🏻 I feel you!
    I finally took myself to therapy in September for my anxiety and I didn't expect that it would end up so fast, literally I just need 4 sessions! She said that my progress was so great, I got the support system I needed, things around me went well, and my journaling routines way before I went to the therapist also helped me get through it faster. I'm glad that my uni provides mental health support at the University Medical Center so that it costs me less than 3 dollars every session just for the administration fee. I know it's such a privilege to get all of these but seriously- if we have the willpower to get our mental health or our life in general getting better, the universe will help us lean forward to that purpose.
    Stay healthy guys!

      Hey Mei-yin! Thank you so much for sharing your story and your kind words. It's incredibly brave of you to seek help for your anxiety, and I'm thrilled to hear about the progress you've made in just a few sessions. That's amazing! Your experience is a powerful testament to the benefits of therapy, and how different approaches work for different individuals. It's also great to hear that your university provides affordable mental health support. This is such an important resource, and I hope more institutions worldwide will follow this example.
      You're absolutely right about the cultural stigmas in some communities regarding therapy. It can be challenging to navigate these perceptions, but stories like yours and mine help in normalizing these much-needed conversations about mental health 🙏
      Your success with therapy and journaling is inspiring, and it's a wonderful reminder that when we commit to our mental well-being, we can find the support and strength we need, often in ways we didn't expect. Stay healthy and keep moving forward on your journey of self-care and growth. Your story will surely inspire others in your community and beyond!

    How do you take your therapy notes?

    • @all4yoojin
      @all4yoojin  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hey Juan! I use google doc and here's what I do:
      1) write down what resonated with me during the session - for instance, I struggled with food and identified what triggered me to snack so often. when the therapist helped me identify that emotion, I'll make a note of that
      2) I summarize any suggestions that my therapist makes - for instance, 'schedule time to worry' so I don't stay awake the whole night worrying
      3) title the google doc with the key takeaway so I don't have to open every single therapy note!
      I hope you find what works well for you

    How about medication? Seems cheaper than therapy 😮

    • @all4yoojin
      @all4yoojin  Před 9 měsíci

      Hey WL! Thanks for bringing up a very important aspect of mental health care. You're right that medication can be a more cost-effective option for some people. Therapy and medication often serve different purposes and can be complementary. While medication can help manage symptoms, therapy aims to address the root causes and develop coping strategies. It’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most suitable approach for your individual needs. Everyone’s journey to mental well-being is unique, and what works for one person might not be the best fit for another. I appreciate your input on this topic!
