Great video: a wealth of concise, practical info; and you weighed the validity of your choice from multiple angles we all must consider when deciding if this is the right choice for us. Thank you!
Interesting PoV. I have zero interest in either marriage or children and I am thankful and happy for what I have. I am very glad that I never had any children.
At age 30, I donated my eggs. That process looked a lot like your experience. Except I was paid, not paying haha. I hope to do it again.
This is a really good video and kept my interest
I'm currently in my early twenties and I've never really wanted to have a child, so I thought it would be a good idea to freeze my eggs, but I don't know. I thinks I'd go for adoption if I ever change my mind.
Just be careful with adoption. Adoption is a complex issue, with both ethical and unethical aspects to consider. This doesn't mean you shouldn't adopt if you want to, but it's important to think deeply about how the child might feel about not knowing their heritage or original family. It's not as simple as it may seem. If you're in a good place personally and want to have a child, it's something you won't regret. Don't overthink or overconsume what society and people tell you. Follow your heart and take care of yourself â€
@stacyjang what unethical aspects ?
@@carolinealmeida1559 Iâm no expert in this field, but one example of an unethical practice is the way that some of these services go about their methods regarding adoption. Sometimes the people who give up their children are in a vulnerable state and the companies in charge may be more focused towards the profits involved rather than helping the families in these particular situations. This has been known to happen in Africa (for example) where the people adopting have no idea that this is going on behind the scenes. This doesn't happen in all adoption centres, of course. However, it is worth doing some research on. And making sure that the company you potentially work with does their due diligence.
@@carolinealmeida1559 it's best to research online to form your analysis. I'd suggest taking a brief moment to look at the examples around you as well (whether it be from your own life or the public eye) and just observe. Including the methods that companies had to use to make this a profiting service, unknown to the parents who do adopt. Something to ponder.
@stacyjang Thanks for the advice, I'll be aware of that. Although it's not a profitable activity in my country (not the USA). And I've never heard of anything unethical happening to the kids.
I never really wanted biological kids probably because even before I knew about asexuality I kind of maybe knew on some level that I was not really heterosexual which makes conceiving a baby not really as easy but then the other thing was I was really enamored with stories of foster care and helping kids who are already out there so my dream for becoming a parent has been ever since I was like 13 years old adopting or fostering. But then I started dating as a sex averse asexual and when I started dating women and a non-binary afab (assigned female at birth) person they really wanted to have a baby and had been considering sperm donation and stuff like that and one of them wanted me to potentially do reciprocal IVF with them so I learned about the egg extraction process where I could provide the egg and they could carry the baby and I would have done it if our relationship worked out and it would have been exciting and really special and I was around 29 years old when we were considering this and maybe would have done it around age 31. But it did give me pause to learn about the health effects of how they do the egg extraction process and they overstimulate your ovaries and it can cause potentially health effects down the line for women where you messed up their hormones you messed up their ovulation and you did this pretty invasive surgery and maybe damaged part of their body and I wasn't really confident that it was truly fully completely safe and you know it was a risk I'd be risking my own health to have a baby this way. I'm 34 now and not at all financially in a place to have a baby anymore and I wasn't really then but I'm even worse off now in some ways when it comes to financially because my mental health required I have a major career pivot in the career pivot has been kind of going down before I go up. And it's tough because so many of us are stuck without a partner needing a partner to really have the kind of future we want raising kids. I never wanted to be a single parent. I wish more people really considered if going through all this is worth it just so you can have a baby single or with a future husband I suppose when you're 10 years older than you are now and is your life going to really be different enough in those 10 years that you'll want that then and all these things are just I don't know. I'm just surprised how many people are actually freezing their eggs because it's a lot it's a big commitment and it's a big risk for your own health and it's just so much money and I think your process was on the more affordable side than some people in the US.
Isnt this what women wanted? To work and be like men?
A beautiful place and a wonderful video. Congrats on your success! I think any amount like $75000 is arbitrary because of inflation. What's important is what it represents and you explained it really well. I would like to add Harvard's findings on this. Robert Waldinger found that the most important thing when it comes to happiness and longevity is our relationships; friendships, family and whatnot. For personal needs I like to fill my days with activities that fulfill Martin Sellignman's PERMAV model. Daily meditation, morning jogs/walks in nature, enough sleep are free. Intermittent fasting along with a healthy diet don't necessarily cost much. Learning and mastering new subjects and skills can be close to free as well thanks to online resources. Overall, it seems luxury is not necessarily a prerequisite for a fulfilling life and can even be detrimental for some.
Hey KagePoker - you are spot on! And I love that you are already on top of it with the PERMAV model. I personally find daily meditation really hard (during my yoga teacher training, I was always the one falling asleep during our meditation portion of the class haha), so kudos to you. PERMAV really highlights that true fulfillment often comes from the simple, meaningful things rather than luxury. To your point about Waldinger's study, I do believe that the relationships we build over our lives matter the most. I work in business and everything boils down to... people! I talk about the important of relationship tied with longevity briefly (moai) in my Okinawa video too hehe. Thanks again for adding such depth to the discussion!
Love your videos! Thank you so much for asking those questions and giving us a great video! Your energy is thriving!

@@DewTime aww thanks Dewayne. Have a lovely Sunday!
Thank you for sharing! We are under a lot of pressure in today's society, but almost forget to live naturally. Let life be. It's like the dating apps, which makes us feel like we have a lot more choices than before, but is it really in reality?
Honestly, this will sound shallow but when I open my stocks app and see a nice gain on a day trade I get happy, not for the money, I never withdraw from my account, but for the idea that somehow Iâm a step ahead of everyone else and have âfigured outâ the game. Itâs gambling in the end but when you consistently win, itâs a skill. I get a serious thrill when I see how easy it is to make a considerable amount of money simply by beating the herd. It takes mastery of two very important emotions: fear and greed.
Thank you for showing us Macau and for the thought-provoking video! When I was job hunting, I thought that getting a well-paying job would make me happy. And it did-but only for a short time. Then, I believed that buying my own apartment would make me the happiest person on Earth. I was on cloud nine, but once again, the joy slowly faded. So, I agree that emotional well-being is the main factor in happiness. I feel more satisfied with my life when my parents are around. Sometimes, I wish for a family of my own, but then I wonder-what if that happiness doesn't last long either đ€. Life is full of puzzles. By the way, your Mom is beautiful and looks happy to spend time with her nice dauther)
Hey Dr Murphy! Thank you so much for sharing your reflections! Yes, you are right. Life is truly full of puzzles. I like to think that happiness and joy can be amplified when we are around our loved ones. I'm also trying to treat myself in small doses (as I type this, I am snacking on sweet granola). I also feel the same way about starting my own family - what if I can't make them happy? But let me find a significant other first hahaha. And thank you for your sweet words about my mom! I told her about your comment over the phone and she laughed hehe. Thanks for making her smile, and see you again soon!đ
@@all4yoojin I wish you to meet the most right person for you or even a soulmate đ€ I'm looking forward to your new videos)
What small daily pleasures bring you happiness? For me, this video brought me joy because I miss my mom dearly and it was lovely to hear her laugh.
Hearing my mom come in my room and tell me the little bits of her day, since I'm busy most of the time and we don't get that much quality time together.
Hey lulu! Moments like that are so special! Little moments with your mom are truly priceless, especially when life gets busy. Itâs amazing how just sharing the small details of our day can make us feel so connected. Thanks so much for sharing and stay healthyâ€
Yall, just pray and put it in Gods hands. You're not guaranteed a family just like eggs doesn't guarantee a family.
I like and respect you girl but at this late stage I think you're going to have a very very hard time finding someone without having sex before marriage. It's like not test driving a brand new million-dollar car before driving it off the lot :/
Iâm 39 and I waited to get pregnant until I had a good partner and a stable life situation. I knew I wanted kids but I didnât want to do it unless it was the right circumstances. I took a risk by not freezing my eggs or getting a sooner. But I have taken great care of my body for years and I believe thatâs part of the reason I was able to get pregnant quickly. The medical industry provides us with many options but I do believe itâs important for us as women to make decisions based on our values rather than pressure or fear. Easier said than done with such a high stakes situation! Sending warmth and understanding to everyone dealing with these pressures and choices, I wish you peace in whatever path you choose đ
I attempted egg freezing twice when i was 35. All i have to say is NOTHING is guaranteed. Even having the eggs there for the future they may not take when one is ready for pregnancy. It is 100 percent a gamble like she mentioned. We as humans place so much pressure on ourselves. Remember we could also always adopt or not have children at all. We will be OKAY.
It depends on how badly you want a biological child and if you're willing to take steps to increase those chances. I was super healthy and had my first child naturally and easily at 40. However, it was super hard to conceive after 40 (for me, it varies for everyone). I looked and felt like I was in my 30s, but your egg quantity and quality will drop regardless of how young and healthy you look. At 41, I saw an infertility doctor who said the cut off for IVF with my insurance was 42. With the wait list, I would be 42 before I could receive treatment and was therefore ineligible. I spent two years trying different options, IUI, acupuncture, supplements that might improve egg quality, suffered a miscarriage... Eventually, I got pregnant naturally and gave birth to a healthy baby at 44. I had considered egg freezing but felt like I was so healthy, I didn't need it. Just know that your eggs will decline with age despite how healthy you are, and the longer you wait, the harder it will be. If having kids is a priority, then egg freezing while you have healthy eggs might be a good option. Also know that Western medicine (IVF, IUI) can help with egg quantity but not egg quality. There are supplements that have pretty strong research showing they do improve egg quality (CoQ10, NAD+). If you're in my boat where you waited too long to have kids, I highly suggest seeing a TCM/ acupuncturist who specializes in fertility (you can find a practitioner on ABORM). I really feel like it helped me conceive naturally against all odds at 44. Just my two cents.
Im 34 and the reality is I canât afford to freeze eggs even if I wanted to. Itâs a luxury. Maybe I can adopt one day even though my husband and I want a kid of our own so much. The universe said no. Even if I could afford it, my body canât handle being pregnant. I can imagine itâd be a high risk pregnancy. Some things you just canât have no matter how much you yearn for it.
Why arenât there women like you in San Francisco?! đ Woman who budgets and invests is very attractive.
aw hehe, thank you for the compliment!đ I'm sure there are plenty of amazing women in SF who budget and invest too - I used to live there (SF and South Bay)! Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
My grandmother told me if I didn't have at least 1 child by the age of 25, then to never bother or live in perpetual regret of various natures . She had my father at 28 and told me it was the worst thing in her life because he is a psychopath and was a conduct disorder narcissist pos as a kid; and she also wished she had 1 more child to spare any of that man's unfortunate kids fates of isolation. She said she regretted it because she picked career because the love of her life died in ww2. So she settled for a classmate under pressure from her family and the relentless badgering from my grandfather. She regretted it all till her death at age 92. She said she wished she would have just had the 1 love child at 17/18 and been a single mom rather than the psycho child at 28 and was too afraid of having a 2nd psychopath and that psycho didn't bother having family until age 42 and now at 72 he still doesn't want a family or his grandchild . From her stories , my husband and decided to have our 1st and only child when I was 23. Shortly after due to hospital complications I got ovarian cancer and the shop had to be cleaned out and permanently closed with a hysterectomy. I never regretted taking this decision and pushing my dreams of a career aside to have a family. Im happy that my grandma got to be with her great grandchild and see her wish come true . Last thing I would ever want /need is another bloody psychopath to torment my family, we already had 2 don't need another. Bottom line - no right or wrong decision, just life lessons when they happen or sheer terrorism/ptsd from individuals who should have never had children in the first place, just my opinion. Thank you for your video and insight ~
You seem like such a wonderful person! Dating really is a such a hard, crazy thing sometimes. I wish you all the very best with your future and hopefully a great guy who will love and appreciate everything about you! â€
I wish I did that in my 20s. Had extremely hard time getting pregnant starting at 27 due to DOR. As much as egg retrieval is hard mentally and phisicay, it would be easier to do 1 in early 20s, compared to 3 unsuccessful ones in my 30s.
I've never even heard of scholarships for MBA. How did you get scholarships for MBA and how much did you get? Also, why did you choose Wharton over Harvard?
Hey! Yes, MBA scholarships do exist! Schools like Wharton offer merit-based scholarships and fellowships and I believe HBS and GSB only offer need-based. The amounts can vary, so it's worth looking into each programâs options. Best of luck if you are applying this year!!

Anyway, love your channel, keep doing what you're doing!
This is what I fear the most, Iâm 30 now so my best eggs are already gone. But I had a lot of medical problems during my late teens and early twenties, I really didnât have time to think about it. Now idk what Iâll do. I feel like I will have to give up my dream to be a mom, I cannot even afford to sustain myself sometimes and bringing a child to this world feels unfair, but I guess Iâll have to deal with this horrible feeling, Iâm not going to hate on myself for it, but I for sure will feel this emptiness for the rest of my life. I never even expected a father figure, I wanted to do it by myself.

IVF is my only hope for getting a baby. I am currently just finished my 2nd egg retrieval, waiting for the result. I am just grateful that I still have IVF as my option to try to have a baby. Keep positive and baby will come! Good luck everyoneâ€
Health impact? You are not giving birth.
