    Great video. I’m thinking of tuning my 2017. F250-6.7L. Supercab with 8’ box. SCT programmed the stock ECU and I’d like more fuel economy.

      Thanks I appreciate it. I haven't done a video in a few years but it has a stage 1 turbo so sounds even better. Tuning makes a big difference. Just a tow tune will change your truck

    I highly recommend getting a good shop to do a dyno tune on your truck. Thats what i have done. That way they can actually see how ur truck is reacting to their adjustments. I mostly run mine on stock but when i want to have fun ill download the custom tune and when 35×12.50s if i punch the truck from a stop or slow roll she will spin like crazy

    Great information and very helpful thank you. I have a gas 6.0 2500hd. Did your gas mileage go up? Or did it go down because you had more hp?

      I gained about 1 mpg actually and i do drive my truck fairly hard.

    Spoolmonstertv you say you put 30,000 tune miles on the truck before the head gaskets blew. How many miles on your truck when you added a tune? Did you replace the EGR cooler before? Did you only run the 50HP tune the entire time? Thanks for any info.

      i bought the truck with 74,000 and tuned it around 76,000.I deleted the egr cooler at 75,000 but the egr isn't really a big issue with head gaskets.So removing the egr isn't a huge deal.I mostly ran the tow tune,but switched back and forth with the performance tune.I really use my truck,i tow 2-3 times a week,i have 1200lbs in the truck every day and i also snowplow.So it actually held up a lot longer than i would have thought.I also hit wide open throttle every time i drive it.i did head gaskets at 110,000.I forgot i also run a boost fooler to.

    Hello, I already tuned mine 93 octane. I have a CAI coming in tomorrow ,how do I update it? Have to put back to stock? Then redo or How? Thanks!!

      You don't have to do anything to add the cai.If you want to update it put it back to stock.Go to sct's website click on support and download there updater.Then you plug the programmer into the usb and update it.Like i said you don't have to update it to add the cai.Let me know if you have any other questions.

      it was already warmed up,even in the winter i only use the glow plugs to start it in the morning when it's cold.I drive the truck on and off all day so it always has some heat in it.

    Just wondering if anyone has put this on their stock 6.0? 268K miles on my '04 F350 all stock expect a 4" turbo and unpluged my EGR in the close position. Just wondering if anyone has had bad luck with using street tune? I might try Performance, but mostly want the truck to run better and pick up a few MPG's.

      I only have used the tow tunes because i haul and tow alot and the street/performance tune are little to much for towing the weight i do.The egt's get high.I had to stud my truck a few months ago at 110,000.I bought the truck with 73,000 miles on it,tuned at 75,000.I'm surprised i made it that far before the gaskets went.

    Looking to buy one now for my 6.0. Ppl say that sct doesn’t allow you to select egr delete anymore. My truck has a egr delete. Could I still use this tuner with it thinking I have a egr even tho I don’t?

      Yeah you can still use it. If you have a 03-04 you'll have a code no engine light. If you have a 05-07 the check engine light will come on but either way the truck will still run fine

    Hey spool. I have 2 6.0s. If I tune one and want to tune the other... do I have to return to stock tune before I tune the other truck? I'm new to this and I don't want to waste my unlocks :)

      You do have to return the first truck to stock,it can only be programmed to one truck at a time.Each time you change vehicles it will use an unlock.

      Select program vehicle and there will be an option to go back to stock. Or you can put a different tune in that has less power than street. You could try a tow tune

    I have a 04 with a lil over 90,000miles,just started smoking i suspect bad oil cooler causing a egr fail..Have u had any issues to date with your 04?How many miles u have now?

      i have a144,000 on it now. its got everything done to it now. bought the truck with about 73,000 on it. oil cooler and egr 75,000, ficm 93,000 and head studs,gaskets and top end 110,000.i do my own work so i just have to pay for parts.

      @@geotracker30 i hear 6.0's are unstoppable if bulletproofed..I dont know alot about diesel engines so i wouldnt dare tear into it,but i wish i did i was quoted 1200-1500 for just egr and oil cooler replacement

      @@dameronlyon6740 thats a decent price, and yeah you need to know what your doing to mess with these engines.once you set them up right they are a really strong setup. And my truck has never broke down or anything like that.

    my truck is studded and deleted .I want to put the performace tune what settings do you recommend in that position? I have stock 5R110 transmission and 3.73 gear ratio.

      the only thing i change is the shift firmness, i just turn that up a little bit. I leave everything else alone. The stock transmissions are really strong and can handle around 700hp stock. If you beat the crap out of it every light you could start to damage it. I run my truck hard and it shifts perfect.

    About to install an SCT on my 06 6.0 with a fresh delete, oil cooler, and New turbo.
    I'll install performance tune bc I want fuel economy.
    I tow a pontoon short distance at times which is not heavy.
    Will the performance tune react well to those conditions, or should it be changed to TOW?
    15min flip flops wpuld get tiresome.

      if you don't have studs i wouldn't try it.Depending on how much it weighs maybe a few thousand would be okay.But you would want to watch your egt's to make sure they don't get to hot.it's probably worth it to take the 15 minutes to change tunes.

    Hay spool guy, baught the x4 and it dosent have the EGR option. My truck is the same as tours and it has an egr delete on it and i cant adjust it to run right due to it keeps tripping codes. Any suggestion?

      A few years ago sct got in trouble with the epa so they took the egr delete function off of their programmers. I have an 04 and it runs fine without any tuning or non deleted tunes. You could try plugging the egr valve back in and zip tie it so it's not moving around. That will give the ecm a signal from the egr system and might fix your problem

    Nice I have the same scanner for my stock 03 F350 102k with the CTS2 Insight I love it just installed my EGT sensor & I am Running the street tune wish they made a 35" tire config for this scanner but my CTS2 has the option just doesn't reprogram the speedo,just shows on the CTS2 screen still pretty nice.

      I've thought about getting one of the edge monitors just for gauges.they are nice and alot easier to install then standard pillar gauges.

    Ok why is it when I hook my x4 up on my 07 6.0 I cannot find anything to turn my EGR off/on, I can clear the light but nothing for the off/on

      after you pick your tune you will have the option to adjust other parameters,it should be the second option down,select egr and you can turn it off.at 4:15 in the video you can see the egr option where you can turn it on or off.

      Scott Jacobs the newer tunes cannot offer EGR options per federal govt. updates. You would have to buy the old version and don’t update it.

      @@bigdaddy4429 I have the older version. However it won’t let me view my gauges?! Giving me an error code 120E1?! I’ve googled and I only see the option to download the new firmware?! Does this tuner just allow me to change tune but not see gauges or data?!

      It makes the shifts more firm which is better for the clutches. Its also personal preference on how you like the shift to feel

      Sct tunes don't really roll coal tbh. They're pretty clean. Even the performance tune barely smokes

    What's the best mpg you've obtained using this guy?

      13mpg,thats on the tow tune. I've never run it on the street tune which is the highest power level. From what i've heard if you run the higher power tunes and drive normal you will get the best mpg.My truck has about 1200 pounds in it all the time so i'm sure that lowers the fuel mileage a little.Next week i'm going to lake ontario which is about 230 from where i live.I'm going to load the street tune on the truck and see what it gets.I can let you know what the mpg is after the trip.Thanks for the comment

      it's kind of late but i ended up getting 15mpg.I wasnt able to load the biggest tune on to see the best mileage.So i would expect about 17 on the perfromance tune from the gains i saw.I also have a top on my truck which may lower the mpg because of wind drag.

      You can tune without studs,but there is a chance you can blow the head gaskets.It's a common failure on these trucks even on stock tuning.The more power you add the bigger chance you have to blow the gaskets.I put a little over 30,000 miles on the truck with tuning before the gaskets went out.

      not sure what you mean,i have a brake controller on the truck and our trailer have electric brakes on them.at 11 minutes of the video you can see the controller at the bottom of the dash.maybe your talking about something with the tuner?

So I was going to get one if these for my 03 f350 and wanted to know if you don't like the tune for like the transmission can you go in and fix just that or do you have to go through all of it again?

      @@hilham89 at the time one of our trailers didn't have brakes.but thats been fixed.to adjust the transmission you still have to go through the whole process again.it only takes 10-15 minutes.It would be nice if you could adjust one paramater.thanks for the comment.if you have any other questions leave a comment.

    Starting Jan. 2, 2019, it is illegal to disable any emissions control devices from SCT. The tune that the tuner puts in the vehicle goes back to SCT and if they find something fishy, expect a knock on your door from the EPA.

      @@geotracker30 I have a 2014 chevy silverado with the 5.3. It is stock, nothing has been done to it. My car has had about everything done to it. 2006 Pontiac gto. 6 liter, heads, cam, intake, throttle body, injectors, stall converter. 460 wheel hp and 457 wheel torque. It will never pass an emissions test but I live in a small town where there are no emissions test.

      @@geotracker30 I thought when Trump became president and a new epa man appointed that hated the epa. They did cut back on fuel mileage regs, but got to be real jerks about emissions on motor vehicles. Put the tune back in, you paid for it. Have a great day.

      spoolmonstertv oh i gotcha haha. i hsve a 6.0 as well and i highly recommend custom tunes. i ordered mine from Gearhead and and got the tunes 2 hours after ordering it. the tune really woke the truck up!

      im still on stock headbolts and had the tunes for more than a year now. ive only used gearhead tunes so i cant say anything about the other tunes.

      I'm doing it myself.Its the first 6.0 i'm doing,its not the first engine i've had apart.So it shouldnt be too bad.I've had my truck just over 2 years i have put 35,000 miles on it tuned.I tow every week,haul everyday and snowplow,so its not a grocery getter by any means.I will try to do some videos as i tear it apart.
