    as a guy that has to do this kinda stuff on all sorts of type of vehicles/equipment. and end up having to watch lots of videos, i really appreciate how you did this one. one dude doing the work, another filming and talking. this ensures we get a good view of whats going on. and can get two guys possibly differing knowledge/opinions on the tasks. it's really hard to make decent videos solo, so the two person approach makes a big difference. Also you guys actually took it apart, step by step. no pulling stuff ahead of time, no stuff not being shown. this is very helpful to viewers, so we can see all the steps, all the hard parts, and go in knowing full well what were in for, and have a decent idea of the tools we need to have on hand ahead of time.

    Wish I was better with my words, but I want to thank you for this part 1 video! You could literally start off with "how to replace your oil cooler with basic tools". From step one to where we are now I have played the video then paused it where we was at, we knew exactly what tool to use and what to do do next! Day later or on video 2 and I can't express my gratitude!! Not all angels have wings!!

    14:33 - A quick shot of lubricant to the end of the hose before using the hose pick makes getting the hose off a little easier and lessens the chance of damaging the hose. Also, after the pick is first in, spray in-between the pick and the inside of the hose for an extra bit of insurance. I work on Mopars for a living, I use Mopar MP50 for this (I think it's Mopar's equivalent of WD 40, doesn't damage the hose either).

    Moral of the story, don't buy a 6.0 or 6.4. Nightmare is an understatement. Had three 6.4s on my farm and just as Bill stated on one of his videos and I quote "6.4s are basically a throw away engine after 150K miles". So much clutter just to meet EPA garbage. • @Parents_of_Twins
    @Parents_of_Twins Před 5 lety

    I personally pulled mains on an engine running Quaker State that had been driven for more than 75 miles after the distributor shaft broke near the oil pump, so it had zero oil pressure, and they looked almost like new. I also pulled several of the rod bearings while I was at it and they all looked good as well. The engine was a 318 in a 70's Dodge Aspen. My idiot brother was the one driving the car and didn't believe me so he sold the car afterwards and the guy who bought it drove that car for another 10-15 years until he died. As far as I know the car is still running. So hold off on that BS that Quaker State is a bad oil. I haven't run it in a diesel so perhaps in diesels it doesn't perform as well there, but it works pretty damn good in gas engines as I have personally seen several go well beyond 200k running Quaker State.

    In the video you chastise joe for not disconnecting the battery and then he begins disconnecting it by removing the positive first. Then you mentioned all that needed to be disconnected was the wire to the alternator. Just to clarify the following: aren't you supposed to unhook both grounds first before removing any hot (red) wires? The way joe disconnected the battery he could have still inadvertently grounded the hot to the vehicle since the other side was still connected? And same with the alternator wire is it hot when removed such that it too would ground out if touched to the body? Just on here to learn not trying to be a dick
