    As a lifelong Pacer fan and Indiana resident, I didn't want the Pacers to draft Reggie. Steve Alford baby! Hometown hero! Took Indiana University to 1987 NCAA championship! Wow, was I wrong. I still love Steve but Reggie is my favorite NBA player of all time. Nobody competed harder and gave me great moments and memories as a basketball fan. I know he is not the greatest to ever lace em up, but for me, Reggie is my favorite basketball player of all time! Thank you Reggie for everything you did not only for the Pacers on the court but for Indiana on and off the court.

    Its not only about stats. Miller's ability to be 'clutch' in crucial situations and big moments makes him an all-time great. There are a lot of players who's stats are much higher but chokes during crucial situations but this player craves those moments, he wants those rivalry match ups and that makes him a heck of a player. No one can teach that. Its not about the 3s or making the all-star number of times, its the arsenal of Miller that makes him deadly especially in the endgames. These qualities are very rare.

    Back in the day I hated Reggie with a passion, how he would just drive a dagger into my Knick heart during the playoffs, compounded by his abrasive demeanor... and now, I have the world of respect for him. Absolutely one of the greats, among the true talents to have ever stepped onto the basketball court. Add to this how damn friendly this guy is in real life, and how his military upbringing concealed a gentlemen under the aura of pitched, red hot NBA rivalry which consumed the entire planet during the Jordan Era. Thank you Reggie, your name is spoken with much respect among the old timers, even though, in our youth we would have gladly strangled you! Peace ✌

      He used to come into the restaurant I worked at once or twice a week for sushi, this was in the late 90s early 2000s. The owner's dad had been involved in Taiwan's national basketball team and they struck up a friendship. We had a private room with a big table in back that the owner's dad would give Miller massages on lol. I got to sit in Miller's box at Conseco a bunch of times which was cool. He used to give the owner tickets all the time.
      I also have a signed hat from him. I never said anything or treated him any different than any other customer but it was cool seeing him in person and he's one of the few celebrities I ever waited on that I actually cared about.
      His then wife was pretty trashy and crazy though, she's the one that burned his house down. She used to get drunk and walk through the restaurant before games yelling things like "Go Pacers! Fuck the Knicks!" and this was a nice restaurant.
      But Miller was always very respectful and quiet, he came in to eat alone a lot after practice or whatever. I remember he used to put teriyaki sauce on his sushi rolls which I always thought was gross lol.

    I was watching that game where he pushed off Jordan and hit the game winning shot, live, at a restaurant I worked at. We had a sushi bar and these two Bulls fans were sitting there watching the game, pissed off, because they had bought tickets from a scalper that turned out to be fake.
    Anyway they were sitting at the sushi bar just running their mouths, nonstop, I mean they were belligerent. They were talking trash right up to when Miller hit that shot, there was like a second left on the clock so the Bulls still had a shot but they missed it and those two jokers got up bitching and moaning about how the refs gave the game to the Pacers, blah blah blah, they were talking trash the whole way out while everyone in the restaurant gave it right back to them. It was great.

      Whut? Reggie is a god here in Indy...I believe for some years now TNT has not allowed him do his TV commentary here because the Fieldhouse faithful kept interrupting his broadcasts with loud, booming _REG-GIE_ chants (I know, cause I was one of 'em...😁)...Pacers had a 19,000-plus sellout crowd who all stayed two more hours (almost til midnight) for a post-game appreciation ceremony honoring his last regular season appearance...they had another appreciative SRO crowd for retirement of his jersey number...he was inducted into the HOF in 2012. We do agree he was a great player tho.

      On inbounds plays, when Jordan needed to get open and his man was guarding him tightly, Jordan had a technique of grabbing his man around the waist and throwing him the opposite direction of where Jordan was going to get open. Jordan would often do this illegal tactic in the low post amidst all the other players where he could mask the act and knowing that refs often pocket their whistles in the final minutes of games.

      @gasnaked Před 6 lety

      Too many stars in guard position back in days in EAST. MJ, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Penny Hardaway, Mark Price, Glen Rice, AI, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen. Reggie Miller has to compete 4 all star slots for guards each year. Then it makes it very difficult, since most people like those dunk/crossover guards which Reggie is not. Also MJ/Penny/Thomas/Dumars/AI/Kidd these players automatically locked 2-3 slots in All star, not much left for others.

His feud with Spike and the Knicks and going up against Jordan and losing made people think he was better then he was. Only made all nba 3rd team a few times. Most of the time those teams went on to the finals or won the championship. The Pacers were always bumped from the playoffs because they almost always had the worst match ups for them possible. Remember basketball is a team sport, not just one player. Also do you think Scottie Pippen or John Stockton are great players? Reggie Miller scored more than they did and most people would argue those 2 players were better than Miller.
