  • Mesmerizing drone video showed bubbling lava flowing from a volcanic eruption in southwestern Iceland over a road near Blue Lagoon geothermal spa on Thursday.
North of Grindavik, the lava hit pipes supplying hot water to more than 20,000 people.
This marks the second time the volcano has erupted this year.

The reason the lava is only bubbling where it crosses the road is because the heat is thermally decomposing the asphalt, generating large amounts of hydrocarbon gases. Once these gases break through the lava and come into contact with oxygen in the air, they ignite, producing the scattered puffs of flame you can see.

Not to be all nature-is-beautiful-fuzzy-wuzzy, but during the last eruption in January, they built a levee and the lava flowed around it. So yes, five guys and an excavator can actually stop this power, no army needed.

Since asphalt is so heavily oil-based, every fiery 'pop' in the lava above the road is an oil fire, starting on the asphalt and bubbling to the surface.

Doesn't seem completely right to me, as the asphalt is not in contact with the oxygen below the lava. It seems more likely that the asphalt melts and heated gases get released, that then bubble to the surface of the lava to then ignite once in contact with the air.

The pipe is under the lava so it was impossible to fix it. I live in one of those towns and I have been without hot water since (we use hot water to heat our houses)and will be for the next days. It’s winter and the weather is cold enough to freeze the pipes of our homes and that leads to more difficult problems. It’s also causing electrical problems for our electrical system is not made to tolerate electricity to warm up houses and now everyone are using electric heaters. We are strictly told to stay under 2,5 W of electricity so the electricity won’t get overwhelmed and shut of power in neighborhoods or the whole towns. This problem is not going to be temporary because there is still and will be still volcanic activity in this area and if it goes over the pipes or the electricity well…

There seems to be a strong correlation between certain sun spot cycles, and positioning of planets in relation to earth quakes and seismic activity. This October there will be an aligning of the planets known as the gas giants. This alignment hasn't occurred since 79AD. That was the year that Mt. Vesuvius buried Pompey under about 30+ feet of ash.
The relationship of the sun to the earth can be learned about all over the internet, but one channel I would recommend is Suspicious Observers with Ben Davidson. There is good info out there if your interested.

From t=1:24 to 1:29, the structure at the surface of the flow makes me think the movie is mounted backward relative to time : The kind of U-shape lines drawn by moving small places at the surface of the flow, should be open topwards to the flow (classical laminar parabolic flow, where the center of the flow in surface goes faster than the side parts, due to friction on the two sides), while here they look opened downward, as if the (redder) sides of the flow were faster than its center part… Can you see what I mean ? (the description of the phenomenon is not evident, with the aggravating circumstance that, in that matter, I don't speak English sufficiently well…). What do you think?

this is a very fast lava. due to its material composition.
it had to rise from the earth's core through the mantle, that's why it's speed. the lava temperature there is huge now, much higher than before.
and it will not subside. this is confirmed by the many earthquakes. these are not earthquakes, but lava rising from the core. so much pressure there now.
