  • The closest you can get to the active volcano in Iceland is by going to the Blue Lagoon. But should you?

“They have a lot of experience evacuating.” 😂

  • @russetmantle1

"Have a safe trip" never hit so hard...

  • @tinaaskari9472

Thank you for being a responsible human ❤ and promoting this

  • @LowerTheBoom

I didn't really feel like going to the Blue Lagoon anyway when I was there. I drove right by on Route 43 in order to get to Grindavik and didn't even care. I just wanted to go hike up to the volcano the next day.

  • @KevinEdwardsPlus

Your question isn't just hypothetical for me. I have a scheduled reservation that I paid for before the eruption. Unless things significantly change before my date, I'm not going to go. Thanks again for your videos!

  • @markuserikssen

It's totally irresponsible to re-open the lagoon at this time. I guess it's all about the money...

  • @TheGrumpyExplorer

I’ve been to Iceland 7 times and never been to the blue lagoon. (Apart from when I was driving by and needed the toilet). There are plenty of other natural hot springs to bathe in without going there.

We love your reviews. My wife and I are going to be in Reykjavik on April 15 & 16 2024 and want to buy you a beer.

  • @SoCo_Surfcasting

Haven't been yet, still not planning on going. Coming back in Juli og September for trips #3 and #4. Would rather go to another less crowded lagoon with or without an ongoing eruption. I'd rather have a great trip.

Thank you for updating. I am scheduled to visit Iceland in June. The Blue Lagoon is on the tour. Hopefully , by then it will be safer. Please keep updating. ❤

Nope! I won a pair of tickets in February and I'd rather risk not being able to use them. They're valid for 3 years anyway.

  • @spaceshark

Always informative as always! ! I was wondering about the Blue Lagoon. Be safe!

Plenty of other places to see in Iceland. We only did 2 weeks and my kids are asking to go back because we missed so much. We skipped the Blue Lagoon all together because we didn't want crowds and it seemed to be the most expensive. Myvatn Nature Baths was quite lovely even if it is smaller than the Blue Lagoon and our kids got in free. We also enjoyed Laugarvatn and it seemed more kid friendly as well though a bit more expensive to visit. We did comment that we felt the Icelandic idea of danger was very different from the American idea of danger but this just seems irresponsible. Walk with me Tim showed just how close the Blue Lagoon is to disaster and they have gotten lucky so far.

Google maps shows the eruption is less than 3 km from Blue Lagoon. Gasses can take a non-direct route by hills in the neighborhood. Last July I stood 40 meters from the erupting Litli Hrutur crater and at some point I sensed gasses were giving me a sore throath, that's when I left to safer grounds. I understand Blue Lagoon wants business but why open the hotel as people asleep are way harder to evacuate quickly ?

  • @metal--babble346

the last eruption happened with zero warning. Everyone at the fancy resort had to evacuate immediately. Lava and ash were filling the sky. The people who ran from the volcano "had fun".

  • @hoser7706

The Blue Lagoon was an unplanned stop on our trip last yr. Fresh off the plane it was well worth it. But it is not worth the chance of turning into rugbraud imho. Hopefully things settle there soon and it, the geothermal plant and Grindavik are spared more hardship. But please wander out of your lane and keep your funny content coming.

  • @purpletc1

    Greetings Karl from Madrid!!! ❤️

  • @kathleenmccann3120

I imagine that there are other places to experience the geothermal pools in Iceland. Probably more beautiful places. I’d check those out rather than test my luck with the risky air quality at BL.

  • @rileyuktv6426

Dive in - it will be a blast! ❤

Supposed to go there straight from the airport when we land in the morning on the 19th.... Have been nervously watching the closings and openings for the last two months and am currently double-booked there and at the Sky Lagoon (which we are also going to 11 days later) and debating which to cancel and which to risk going to. We'd really like to see the Blue Lagoon but a little nervous about it closing again at the last minute.... and.... you know... the whole dying thing. Maybe I'll bring my scuba gear..
