i was thinking of watching the new movie directly but idk why i had a sense to watch the old one before that. Man i do not regret that. One of the best movies ever made. Made me emotional and stuff, turns out my dad loved that movie back in the day and we had a nice chat about that movie. Now were gonna watch Maverick.

Well if you watch F1, the situation is similar. The pole doesn't want to give up top stop, second place has to take it. In this case, mavericks eagerness to be the best got him recklessly get caught up in Iceman's Jetstream because he was too close in the first place.
I saw Top Gun when it first came out back in 1986. Me, mom, dad and my sister. Vista Theatre in Hollywood.

On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established
an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots.
Its purpose was to teach the lost art or aerial combat
and to insure that the handful of men who graduated
were the best fighter pilots in the world.
They succeeded.
Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School.

Biggest problem would be the tower flyby. He would lose his wings, be court martialled and possibly jailed. Same with start where he flies the other guy in. Aside from what he did being no help at all, it is a direct disobey. He would be in the brig.
Oh yeah, and tat ridicuklous ending. They have just landed from an enemy engagement, there is still a very real threat and the whole carrier crew goes over and gives them a welcome home parade!!!
