Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.

Any mouse going into a van occupied by a cat, to eat the cat’s food no less, the mouse gene pool is better off without them. The other nite boondockin in Maine I left my driver's window down with a screen in window. I'm sleeping behind drivers seat. Van moves I wake up, point flashlight at window, a black bears head 3 ft from my head, it booked it ..good dose of adrenaline..🙂

Think of storing your bagged food in plastic containers. That way the mice can’t get at it. That includes cat food.

Stuff steel wool into any small holes or anything. Mice can get through openings a little smaller than a dime

One night as I was in my living room watching TV my cat brought in a mouse and put it at my feet. I thought it was dead but as I went to pick it up it ran under the sofa. About 5 minutes later she came back with a live mouse in her mouth, I started yelling and she dropped it. The mouse then ran into the dining room. I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water and lo and behold there was a dead mouse in the middle of the floor. She was pooped after all that hunting. We have a house built in 1900 and there are lots of spaces for mice to get in. I have, in the past, used have-a-heart traps to catch them and then drive them to a park about 1 mile away. I miss my beautiful girl every day, she went over The Rainbow Bridge in April.

I have found, in my house, that if I put out peppermint oil drops on towels and cotton balls that I don't have any mice anymore. I believe in peppermint oil. Try it. I refresh it about once a month. I truly believe it works.

I follow a couple of true crime channels so when I first saw the warning I thought I got the wrong channel. Then I saw what happened. Very cute. Very clever video. I think it was justifiable homicide! 😂 I heard last week mice don't like the smell if peppermint. People on a farm told me they put peppermint oil where they might get in. They haven't had a problem since.
I am glad Kelly took care of your mouse problem. Ever sound for awhile you will think you have another mouse. Take care, stay safe.

You need to tell Kelly "Good Job" for us all. Might be yucky to clean up the remains but better than having to deal with chewed wiring, etc. Kelly is definitely a defender of the van. I love how you did the video. The crime was the intrusion and Miss Kitty FIXED that one quickly. You might want to leave your cabinets open slightly over night some of the time so Kelly can do her security guard checks for other hiding intruders.

You can keep your walnuts, pecans and other nuts in the freezer. They will stay fresh longer (like a couple of years!! ). I’ve been keeping all of my pecans in the freezer for 25+ years!!

They actually also will climb up your tires, along the struts and hose lines and find a way in. As you know they only need the tiniest of openings. Might be worth getting a couple for small traps for the cupboards just incase. Living with a furry lethal predator also helps :)
No traps or poisons needed. Peppermint oil on cotton balls keeps mice away !!

Woke up yesterday morning at 3 to one of my cats playing with a mouse in my bedroom. At least this time it was whole and dead, 😂.

Again, make sure you give her a monthly dewormer and flea treatment. Mice have lots of parasite, including fleas, worms, and taxoplasmosis (which can transfer to humans). (I personally recommend Credelio & Profender. Once a month & done) I have the same problem, living by the water they are all over my yard and Merri ate one again today (that i saw). I can't keep him inside, or he complains. Makes me kinda miss winter! & the crime scne editing is hilarious.

We had a caravan to make drinks when we were seeing to our 2 Donkeys but we stopped using it for a while and when we went back in it mice had found their way in and they had chewed all the polystyrene insulation, there was polystyrene everywhere, what a mess 😅 I hope you don't have any more in your van, Kelly on patrol duty 🐀🐀🐱🐱🤣

An RV maintenance tech told me to buy pet flea collars, cut them into strips, and place in the back of cabinets etc. This will “repel” the mouse and keep them away. Guess it works…no mice yet!

I got an electronic deterrent to plug into my Jackery since a friend of mine got rid of mice in her home with one, It only uses about 1% power for every 3 hours. Hope that helps❤
Kelly's a brick! I'd leave all cabinet doors open. The beginning was funny. I keep food in glass jars, a cheap cooler works too.
Mix baking soda and sugar and put around. It kills mice not Kitty.
