- 2023: another year, another update. In 2006 we visited the Grant Village Visitor Center in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park in California, USA. We bought some seeds of the the giant sequoia and back home in Holland; Europe, two feet below sea level, two little sequoias started to grow in December 2006. And now, June 2023 16,5 years later, in Holland two giant sequoia trees are growing (and since 2021 a little nephew).

Awesome!!!
More updates please! 🎉
Love these documentaries of this growth cycle. Fantastic choice of music also, in all of them. Hope to see an update this year. Be well.
Amazing how much they have grown in the past few years! As someone who lives in Northern California about 15 minutes from a redwood forest I really had no idea how fast they grew. Your channel documenting this has really opened my eyes to how fast they can grow. I always assumed they grew much slower than this. Especially Sequoias! This is awesome, they look really healthy!
Our municipality has thinned out some of the trees around the sequoias. Now they have more light and space and are doing really well this year.
@@martinvn123 They look very happy where you planted them, glad some trees were thinned out, it helps give them room! I look forward to seeing more updates in the future.
@@martinvn123 the municipality did that? I assumed you did that yourself. that's great to hear. how did you get them to agree planting such a large tree when it's fully grown?
@@martinvn123Did the municipality have any problem with the giant sequoia?
@@Otto-cz6byclearly not since they didnt touch them
If there were more people like you, the world would be a better and greener place ! The satisfaction in your face standing beneath those trees is heartwarming
Amazing work. Keep posting updates
Finally an update! I planted a few around my place in northern Germany as well. Can't wait for summer
you should be planting native trees, bro.
Since these things live hundreds of years. I hope when we all pass. Someone on the internet keeps updating us about this particular tree
Great to see this years update.
Those are going to be the most famous sequoias in the world, greetings from brazil, great job dude
Subscribed and notification on. Patiently awaiting the 2057 update
Year 5024, two new general sherman trees
Thank you for sharing this. I live in California. I have always loved the Sequoia trees (coastal redwoods as well as the giant sequoias). I just started germinating some seeds I brought back from trip to see the Sequoias. I wish I had started this project 20 years ago, but better late than never. These trees will outlive us all and many generations after us. I hope to leave the world a better place than I found it. It’s these little acts of kindness that matter.
One note I would like to make is that these giant sequoias have shallow roots and they grow better in groves. Plant other sequoias near them as the hold each other up by interweaving their roots. One of the main reasons of their death is just falling over.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful journey.
Your last video inspired me to grow some myself I now have a one year old sequoia tree and just put another 200 seeds in the fridge to break their dormancy planning to plant at least 10 at my fathers house in Ireland he recently adopted a 8 year old sequoia that was planted by someone in their tiny urban back garden instead of cutting it down they paid to have it dug out and transferred we planted it in his two acre garden 3 weeks ago glad that it will live on instead of being cut down.
Thanks for sharing, I have 11 sequoia trees some of them between 2-5 years old, no idea what I'm gonna do with them. Planing to get another 3-5 trees this year, hoping they gonna live a good life in Poland.
POST UP A VIDEO!
I just remembered this channel yesterday!!
They are growing a lot ❤
Best channel on CZcams
This is a great video, I really admire your commitment and dedication to the project. I am planning to grow some seeds here in London and wanted to see how fast they might grow. So thank you.
Congratulations on 1k subscribers 🎉🎉🎉
Can't wait to see how they'll look in 300 years
I mean, you’re gonna *have to* wait

We’re gonna be looooong gone in the year 2300 and someone else will have to look over them. Keep the updates going for another 600 years 👍
I love seeing the progress x
These Videos make me so happy. Outstanding documentation. XD
I just subscribed maybe two months ago and now we get this gem! And a little COUSIN!!😮👏👏👏👏
Wonderful idea and execution! May you plant many more trees
I visited the trees today, they are doing well. The tall one MIGHT be clearing the power lines, it is actually planted a bit to the side.
I worried when I saw those electric lines so close by.
So cool! Im glad they are doing good.
wonderful! you must be very happy
This channel makes me want to document the backyard trees in my house!
Thank you for all the pictures
Your videos are terrific; I am on the east coast of America and would love to watch giant sequoia’s grow over the course of my lifetime. It will be so cool, many years from now, for all the Hollanders who pass by haha.
Add the Pale Blue Dot so we know where it really is! 👍🏻
back again :)
Looking forward to the next update 😊
amazing
The difference in size between the two is very obvious, which is fascinating since both were planted at the same time and have spent their lives right next to each other.
When’s 17.5 years dropping
I love this so much ❤❤❤, thank you for posting
Amazing video thx for sharing. You look like a great friend to have aswell. Please post another vid in 7 years
Thanks for sharing

people from the future will watch this and update other people from the future about these giants
I hope you planted these at least 75 meters apart.
Beautiful
Wonderful
Incredible!
Se podría actualización casa 6 meses? 😅 Es hermoso ver como crece
Do you foresee the powerlines overhead becoming an issue?
Have you named them?
waiting for the next update, from Pakistan💚
Could you upload your next video in 1080p instead of 480p?
showing the location makes me worried someone will vandalize them
Hello Martin,
How did you managed the first winter of the seedlings? Stay in house out they were outside? My seedlings are just 5 weeks old and I am not sure how to do it. Thanks! Your videos are great!
Can your future childrens keep taking photos until the year 5000?
zie dat verschil als ze eindelijk in de volle grond staan, groeien veel harder :D

nice
Which type of sequoia is it? Tall or Fat?
Mist it once and a while and see the difference.
So, they don't get full sun surrounded by other trees?
They’ll outgrow the smaller trees around them and full sun won’t be a problem then.
Seems like they grow faster as they get older.
Either that, or it’s the fact that they cut down or trimmed back some of the other trees around them, so the sequoias got more sunlight. There are very few trees that grow faster if they get older, not sure if they’re one of them.
Once they were out of their pots and in the ground, they immediately could expand their roots and thus grow taller.
I have tried to grow these trees dozens a times they all died have 3 in the ground now less than 3 years old 1 is dying, Holland must have special soil that they like
Redwoods like mild weather and summer fog. I’m not very familiar with Holland, but when I visited Amsterdam it reminded me very much of Monterey (my hometown), so maybe they have a similar enough climate that Sequoias do well there.
Anas ibn Malik reported that the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If the Final Hour comes while you have a shoot of a plant in your hands and it is possible to plant it before the Hour comes, you should plant it." ❤
Wow that little cousin skipped over all that slow sht became massive in just 1 year. 🤣
Yeah, I noticed that!
Very nice growth during recent years! I grow them too:-)
