  • Once upon a time a long, long time ago (12,5 years) in a place far, far away (in Holland; Europe), two feet below sea level, two little sequoias started to grow.
And now, 12,5 years later, the sky is the limit…….
The seeds were bought in 2006 in the Grant Village Visitor Center in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park in California, USA. The music is Beethoven Symphony no. 5.

Been watching your sequoias grow for years now, so happy to see they're both still doing well. Well done!

i want to be like you when I grow up. Just an old man and his plants. He's lived through enough to realize that patience is the only thing that matters. Without patience, we appreciate nothing. The best things are worth waiting for.

I live in central Illinois and our elderly neighbor's son baught one in a pot that was already 18-20 inches tall in California and planted it here in Illinois in late April last year. By late October it had grown a foot.

475 cm = roughly 15 feet 7 inches. Great! Keep making updates every few years. I hope there is something to protect them from being cut down or damaged. But then any sort of sign might attract unwanted attention or intentional damage/destruction. Maybe best to stay incognito.

2057. Lets see now. I’m 89. I’m on pins and needles waiting for your daughters 50 year update. Great video. Everyone should see these trees in California at least once in their life time. They just leave you completely in awe!

I live in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, in Bucks county. One of my neighbors has an absolutely gorgeous enormous trees on one corner of his lot. One day I asked and he told me it was a sequoia (at least a hundred foot), that was planted 35 years before. Another 35 years and they’ll have to move the house.

And 100 years later someone will decide to cut it down... because some solar panel won't get enough light.

I love the outro about the grandkids. Awesome legacy!

  • @arcbrush

Really shows the saying - the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now.
