    I'm Welsh, and when we were kids our parents thought that buying any flavour of crisps other than plain was being ostentatious, so on a Sunday night after a bath, we would pour salt and actual vinegar into a family sized bag of plain crisps and shake them vigorously. We thought it was such a treat, soggy crisps and Sunday night television.

    I remember mad cows disease back in the 90s i refused to eat beef for a while. All these crisps sound so good i have not tried any of them. Aw good to see Finn enjoying some too.

      Hi Keza, Happy Tuesday to you! Yep, the mad cow disease was a crazy time - 1986 to 2001, peaked at 1993. If you try the crisps, please let us know what you think of them. Glad you liked seeing Finn, our little quality assurance taster :)

      I remember going to Mcdonalds for a burger during the outbreak. The assistant said we get all our beef from France now. I said 'but France have it too'. I got a blank look and I said I was going to KFC lol

      Hi DizzieLizzie, Happy Tuesday! Crisp addicts here too, we can never have 'just one' :) Ohh black garlic sour cream - we were lucky to find black garlic cream cheese at our local Trader Joes last weekend, can't wait to try it. Those Tyrell's you mentioned sound wonderful :) Very big thank you to Richard, we really appreciate the chance to try these wonderful items :)

    Foot and Mouth broke out in 2001 in the UK. We went on holiday to the Cotswolds and the place was deserted, so you may be mixing up foot and mouth with mad cows disease, which broke out in 1986. Foot and Mouth was just as hideous, especially for the animals, with over 6 million (mainly cows) being culled.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes I was mixing it up. That fits with the time when my mom traveled to England. She remembers being questioned about whether she had walked through any pastures.

  • @neilgayleard3842

    I haven't had those. Supermarkets own brands in Britain have improved a lot in recent years. It's not just crisps, other things are so much better than in the past. Is that the case in America.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci

      We buy more Trader Joe's brand than other stores. They can be hit and miss with some great and others just okay. We like Target stores, but their store brand items are often lacking.

      Based on another comment, I was confusing it with foot and mouth, based on the timeline. Also just read that the US has been importing beef from the UK since 2020! Not sure why we've heard of beef-based items being taken in customs.

    Some very interesting flavours in there, I've never tried sherry vinegar so I think they would be nice to try. When we had the mad cow episodes in 2000 I remember going to Dublin and having to walk through disenfected mats.Are Oxo cubes banned in America, I make hot drinks from the beef and the vegetable cubes, makes a change from tea and coffee, enjoy eating the rest and make some crisp butties.

    • @johnleonard9090
      @johnleonard9090 Před 3 měsíci +1

      It was a foot and mouth disease outbreak in in 2000/1 still a terrible epidemic with 6 million cow and sheep destroyed before it was brought under control. BSE/mad cow was down to animal feed having brain and nerve tissue from other animals mixed into it during late 80’s early 90’s

    • @michaelriordan8265

      We weren't even aware of the ban on British beef products until we started doing the channel. Apparently it's been lifted for a few years, bur we've heard of people getting beef flavored items getting removed from boxes by customs.
