    That is not something you hear very often from Americans that you was looking forward to trying marmite products lol but i knew you liked it from previous videos. I don't remember when i first tried it but like it on toast with melted cheese, also love twiglets it's hard to stop once the packet is open. Not tried these but sound good! will try to find them, i looked on Tesco's website they have the marmite crisps, cashews, rice cakes, Graze marmite crunch sharing bag and marmite & cheddar cheese bites but no biscuits or flat breads. I'm not sure if it's still available but they used to sell chilli marmite and sometime limited edition jars like at Halloween the trick or treat jars. The adverts are funny there have been a few over the years.
    I like flavoured cider much more than regular cider the berry one sound nice! Aw glad Finn got to try some and liked it too :)

      Hi Keza! We were properly introduced thanks to the kind comments we received - we were told NOT to spread it on thick the first time, but go with a light layer, and from there it was a hit for us :) Love a good cheese toastie with a bit of marmite, and we're working on finishing a bag of twiglets as I type (Finn loves them! He's staring..he's staring...he's using telepathy asking for just one more...just one more)
      We're really taken back on the variety of marmite products available, enjoyed each one we were lucky to try.

    If and when you come to England (and the UK) you really should visit Somerset & Devon in the South West as well as Somerset is well known for Cheddar cheese it is also known for producing lots of cider, i think you would enjoy taste testing some of it. Devon too produces cider as does parts of Norfolk and Suffolk in the East and parts of the Midlands, i enjoy a good cider especially in summer.
    I enjoy Marmite on toast but like you said not putting too much on is the key, it's very nice in cheese ham and tomato sandwiches. I have tried the bigger rice cakes but not any of the ones you tried in this video.

    As a Brit, I grew up with the stuff and I love it. My son born over here loves it as well.
    When were living in the US, my Dad used to take part in Revolutionary War reenactment as a member of the 23rd Regiment of foot for the British Army. His friend and Major and his wife came up to visit us for a weekend.
    Saturday morning and I'm sitting there eating toast and Marmite. The Major was intrigued so I told him to have at it and passed him the jar. My Dad told him to hold back but he put it on like jam. Needless to say the fae he made was priceless. As an 12 yo it was too funny.
    Onto more serious things.
    Get yourselves some propper cheddar as you usually do. Toast some bread to medium. On the top side of the toast, apply Marmite and then sliced cheddar (slice of tomato optional). Place under the broiler to melt the cheese. Est viola, cheese on toast the proper way,

    A Marmite lover here! Loved the advertisements too. Must say we have great advertising companies over here in UK.
    When I was a kid we had Bovril instead of Marmite. I believe you can still buy Bovril in similar little jars to Marmite. Bovril is made of beef and can be drunk ...a teaspoon in boiled water, spread on bread/toast etc or used in cooking of stews etc. My Mum decided at the time of the Foot and Mouth epidemic here in cloven- hooved animals (around the turn of the century?) she would switch from beef products, and to Marmite!!

I believe everything is there for a reason and matching the flavour with the texture is important with any food. Think of it this way, it's a waste product from the brewing process, a load of dead yeast and such. By selling it they're producing a healthy product full of vitamins that would otherwise cost them money to dispose of which would impact the cost of beers to produce to factor in disposal costs

    When my lad was a toddler, he always wanted some of my buttered toast at breakfast. I got fed up of him nicking my brekkie every morning. So i started having marmite on toast, thinking he'd hate it. Unfortunately for me, he didn't 😂

    Regarding the biscuits I would butter them and add a thin layer of marmite from the jar to add a little kick! That's just me, though.
    With the flatbreads you can add cucumber, tomatoes, sliced gherkins ( pickles) and olives. Maybe some branston or similar? Food for thought. Good video by the way. 👍

      Thanks! We recently had some flavored crackers with cream cheese, cucumber and tomatoes so sure that would be great on the flatbreads. Also love pickles and olvies.

    Ciders looked good - loved quaffing a pint of cider down on a hot summer day. not a Marmite hater but like slice of toast with a thin smear of Marmite & a good spread of Bovril (beef extract) they go well together. Definitely Bovril in gravy though also cottage pie etc.
    Finn is like my Clyde - loves all food apart from some vegetables lol.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci +2

      We can't get Bovril here since it's made with beef, but we have seen a product called Bovrite that is supposed to be an American equivalent.
      Finn loves broccoli and cauliflower, but won't touch carrots. 🙂

      Clyde is fussy about peas lol, I can wrap 6 peas in raw mince(he is raw fed) making meatballs & when he's finished there will be 5 clean peas left in his dish. He doesn't get tricked twice lol.
      you will be correct about the Bovrite - too close of a name, great on toast & in gravy.@@FinnLovesFood

    Ross has the right idea! Wooooh 👏🏻 spread a good splurge of Philly Cream cheese on a slice of ham and fold the ham in half and squish it down - now carefully place the ham slice on the flat bread and eat! Just be careful that the cream cheese (if you have spread a large enough quantity on - not something ‘I’ would do of course 🥺🤷🏽‍♀️) doesn’t try to escape out of the ham and splodge down your clean shirt!
    I have also tried it with thinly sliced tomatoes inside the ham slice - but it’s even more of a “clean shirt” risk! 😳😂

    Love marmite, don't know when I first had it. Probably as a baby. I haven't tried the rice cakes, not a fan of them. I have had American cider a long time ago. I have never seen it in Britain. We get a lot of Irish cider/ to sweet for me, a few European ones as well. Marmite popcorn, Jamie Oliver did it once but I don't think marmite ever made it. Nigella Lawson made a marmite pasta as well.

      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi Neil! You mentioned the Irish cider being on the sweet side, was there a pariticular side you prefer? Do you prefer a more dry cider? Marmite pasta, now that sounds interesting, or if it's not available maybe a marmite pasta sauce? New product idea?? :D Happy Friday and thank you for watching :)

    • @neilgayleard3842
      @neilgayleard3842 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Marmite sauce, maybe you should try it first before you start selling it. In Britain we have sweet, dry, and medium. I will try anything, but prefer the medium. I have even had Apple pie flavoured cider. The small local producers are always best. Some the big mass produced stuff is a bit weak. It's like drinking apple tango, it's for lightweights.

    • @FinnLovesFood

      @@neilgayleard3842 these leaned on the sweet side. We've seen some labeled as dry like Golden State Cider, but not medium. Apple pie flavor sounds interesting.

    • @neilgayleard3842
      @neilgayleard3842 Před 3 měsíci

      I don't know if the medium is just a British thing. It gives you the best of both. Also in Britain we have cooking apples so that can make a difference in the taste. As far as I know they only grow here. The Apple pie flavoured cider is from a company called turners. It's in marden kent. They are only a small local producer. I don't know if they export their cider. Check out the website. They sell some good interesting stuff as well as good ordinary cider. Also there another local Kent company to look out Biddenden cider. Their stuff is like wine. Magenta otter travels was in the area in a recent vlog.

    I am a complete and total animal lover - every category; mammals, insects, amphibians; reptiles - even big hairy spiders! And I absolutely DESPISE with all the hatred I can muster, any form of animal cruelty,torture or bad management - so was I offended by the Marmite advert?? Of ….. course…….not.,.. because ‘I’ have s sense of humour! And I saw the concept of the advert as it was intended….. and it was top notch amusing! The animal “protectors and rescuers” do a job that I could not ever do - I would be on attempted murder or GBH charges for a start, 😡😡but those people who remove or care for abused animals are so brave and so deserve respect, that no “sensible” human would ever consider mocking the job.
    Those that were ‘offended’ 😩🙄 get a grip and please tell me, on whose behalf were YOU offended, hmmm? …. That would be the Question of the Day - and no doubt never answered 🤔

      We agree. We thought it was clever and hate to see abused animals. Unfortunately, as Pembroke Welsh Corgis have become more popular here, you hear of breeding animals seized in horrible conditions. We have a wonderful rescue in the southern part of the state called Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue. They do such great work taking in abused/unwanted Corgis and either rehabilitating them to be adopted out or letting them live out their years at the rescue.
